I used this on a 2014 Ford Fusion with a Reese receiver hitch made for my vehicle. Either the neck of the drop hitch is not long enough to get the ball a few inches away from the vehicle or the Reese receiver hitch sits too far under the vehicle.

The center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch sits approximately 4-1/4 inches under the rear bumper of your Fusion. This ball mount measures only 5-9/16 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball hole. For a ball mount with similar rise but much more clearance for your bumper I recommend the Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-14 inch Hitches # 36065 for use on your 2014 Ford Fusion. The Draw-Tite ball mount offers 10 inches of clearance from center of the hitch pin hole to center of hitch ball hole.

Great

by:

This product came exactly as described and is the perfect fit for my hitch to allow me to pull a trailer.

by:

Draw bar arrived sooner that expected and was packaged great for the weight. My current draw bar was not low enough for the trailer and this bar drops the trailer down to a great working and traveling height.

by:

Seams to be a nice piece

by:

This product works great on my Mountaineer. With the 6" drop, my trailer rides level. The service was great, and the entire process was simple start to finish.

by:

My complaint here is not with etrailer but with Curt. I put a Curt hitch on my Hyundai Sonata, perfect fit but because the Sonata is so low, the receiver is only 10" off the ground. I initially ordered a 5-3/8" rise drawbar but it did not have a long enough bar for the vertical portion to clear the bumper. I am having to use one with a longer bar but the rise is only 2-5/8" which put the trailer tongue lower than it should be. Curt designed the hitch for this low vehicle, they should make the 5-3/8" rise drawbar with a longer bar. etrailer knows their stuff and this is the only solution. The small single axel utility trailer I will be pulling will be lightly loaded so it will work OK but it will be angled down more than it should be. etrailer was super about swapping it out for me.

Fair. I shorten the chains as much as possible but they still drag some.

by:

Perfect fit. Gave me the right amount of rise to get past the bumper and up to level out my trailer.

by:

I flip it and use it to get the hitch level with the trailer and it works great

by:

This see's a lot of action for a small hitch on my Jeep and it has held up very well. Durable and well built.
The drop down distance is just right for my trailer to sit level.

So Ive had this for a year now and absolutely no issues. It gets put in and out regularly to tow my utility trailer with my Jeep Wrangler TJ. its the right down distance for keeping my trailer level due to the lift on my jeep. I still recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a down or if needed flip it to raise it Great product and Im still glad I purchased it.

by:

As advertised at a good price. I need the drop down for my Ford Explorer,
as the hitch receptacle on the bumper is too high for my trailer to be level
without the drop.

Works well.............

Still good...

by:

No quality or ordering issues. The shank was shorter than what I am used to, and that makes for a tight fit against the bumper...I could wish for more clarity on the description about that as well as multiple options for a length, but that may be on me for not researching more thoroughly

Still working great… I am now glad for the slim profile so I don’t bang my shins on it when I walk around the back of the car

by:

I have purchased other products from your company in the past and not only find the products high quality but the shopping experience is superior. Very fast shipping and constant updates on the items expected arrival date. Thanks so much.

by:

Great product, have it on our 2014 Forester, using it as a bumper guard-for those people that pull in too close in parking lots and get against your car. I have the rise UP and then mounted two LED lights to the rise, connected to trailer light socket for extra turn signal lights and brake lights. Really shows up great.

by:

These are the final 2 pieces that i needed to hook up a trailer to my Subaru Impreza. A year ago i bought the hitch and a bike rack from eTrailer (both of which work excellent together). The ball and drawbar went together easy and fit perfect in the hitch. The drawbar in the raised position puts the trailer almost at a perfect level.

by:

delivered before date due. professional and helpful customer service rep. If i need a part from etrailer or know of someone who does, I would definitely recommend this company Thank you

Item as advertised. Perfect fit!

by:

I’m not sure if my receiver is Mis-sized or this Ball mount. I had to grind down the mounting shaft to get it to fit in my receiver which is a draw tight 1 1/4 x 1 1/4. Additionally, the lock pin hole is place so tight to the minimum requirement for the receiver that the ball mount actually damaged my bumper trying to get the lock pin could fit through ( my fault for being optimistic). Could you not give this product another half inch of shaft length? Check the specs before you order this product. I was so disappointed after waiting to receive this but, not only did it not work, but it also damage my vehicle upon installation. I’m not a complainer just thinking… Wow this is such a minimalist product. Do your research with full specs before you purchase this product.

E-trailer has excellent customer service! We ordered several pieces to install a trailer hitch on my Honda Fit and accidentally ordered an incompatible piece. Karla from Etrailer called me the following day to notify me of the incompatibility of the parts and suggested the correct one. Hitch is now installed and works perfectly!

etrailer provided me with enough information to guide me to purchase my 6 inch drop bar for my 2017 Outback with a 1.25 hitch. Excellent service and best price I researched. Great online company.

by:

Bought two hitch mounts and a tie-down strap. Quality of all is outstanding but, even better, the service was fantastic. The three items arrived 2 days after I ordered them. I did not have to pay anything for shipping. Before ordering them I asked a couple online questions and the answers came quickly, within a couple hours. Highly recommend etrailer.com.

by:

No more jury rigging or adapters! This will allow me to pull my ATVs to a campsite on a trailer THEN pull the trailer around the campsite with my ATV! Great for gathering firewood, moving inflatable boats, etc.. Very well made and looks great.

Just what I needed to level my kayak trailer behind my Prius after I put larger wheels on the trailer. Fit my hitch receiver perfectly.

  • Drawbar Recommendation with 5 Inches of Rise for 2012 Honda Civic with Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver
The Curt # C11391 is confirmed to fit your 2012 Honda Civic. Once installed the measurement you'll want to use is from the inside top of the receiver tube which on our install was about 11 inches. You'll want to compare those 11 inches with the distance from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler. A better drawbar for your Civic is the Curt # C45028 that will give you a 5 inch rise. For a hitch ball use either the 1-7/8 ball # C40001 or the 2 inch ball # C40018. whichever...

  • Ball Mount With Most Rise for Curt Class II Trailer Hitch On 2007 Volvo S60
The Class II ball mount we offer with the tallest rise is the Curt # C45028. This ball mount has a rise of 5-3/8 inches. This gives you a height of 18-3/8 inches, still short of your 22-3/4 inch coupler height. Even if you used a hitch ball similar to the Curt # C40034 with a 2 inch rise, you would still be a couple of inches shy of your coupler height. Ideally, you want to tow level to avoid sway and traction issues, but this is as close as you may be able to get to towing your boat trailer...

Using an adapter would lower the tongue weight capacity by half. It's a matter of the structure of the vehicle where the hitch attaches not being strong enough. Attempting to carry that kind of tongue weight would most likely result in the fasteners tearing out of the vehicle and the loss of the hitch...

  • Is it Safe to Tow a Trailer Using a Ball Mount With 5 Inch Rise When a 6 Inch Rise Is Needed
Typically you want your trailer to be as level as possible when towing. In order to do this it is best to measure to find the correct rise/drop you need for a ball mount. I am assuming you measured and found that the distance between your hitch height and coupler was 6" so you need a ball mount with a 6" rise. If that is the case, a 6" rise would be ideal but using a 5" rise wouldn't be so drastic that you would have problems. You are also limited in the availability of ball mounts due...

This ball mount is rated for a gross towing capacity of 2,000-lbs. The hitch pin and clip I recommend is part # F-4.
