The door spring works well. The installation instructions were awful. Fortunately our shop is full of mechanics who could figure it out.

by:

Very heavy duty spring, would not bolt up to my trailer as is l had to drill 2 holes in each bracket and bolt it on to my existing bracket, this spring is much more thicker and wider in diameter that's why it doesn't bolt up directly but it is a very easy modification.lm a bread man and l have a hallmark edge trailer with and extremely heavy door the spring it comes with works good but they only last about two or so.l don't think l will have to worry about changing the spring for a good long time, based on the size and the way it effortlessly handles the weight of the door.lf you will notice one of these springs way smaller and has a smaller bolt pattern notice on the other photo the ramp door is open anthe spring is barely stressed but the door is very easy to pull down and you can raise it up with one arm.

The coil spring works great. I saw a ramp door online and copied it for my shed. I built the ramp door from the shed double opening doors and used most of the parts from etrailer.com The dual spring is used to assist opening and closing the ramp door. I calculated the weight and called etrailer.com and they helped me size the dual spring.

  • Ramp Spring Recommendation for 72 inch Wide Door that Weighs 160 lbs
The whole assembly (96 inches wide) would be too long to trim down and still fit. I'd recommend going with the slightly smaller # 362SA7, which can be trimmed down. The spring has a capacity of 150 lbs. That means you will need to slightly support the door but it will be very minimal and will allow great assistance with operation. The # CB250D96SHD although rated for up to 250 lbs is also only able to be cut down to 80 inches. We strongly recommend having a professional overhead door...

Yes, the mounting brackets on the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring, # CB250D96SHD, are adjustable so you should have no problem using the existing weld points on your trailer. • Rear Ramp Door Spring Assist Maintenance
The Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD are just like garage springs. There is nothing really required to maintain them other than visual inspection and light grease on the moving parts. If they lose tension or require cable maintenance, it is recommended to have a garage door professional do the work on them due to the high tension.

  • How are the Torsion Ramp Springs Weight Capacities Rated
The weight capacity of the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD that you referenced is the capacity of the spring as a whole. It wouldn't be listed as total ramp weight since the length of the ramp and hinge used would end up making that number hard to pin down. This assembly is rated for up to 250 lbs capacity.

The Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD has a 250 lb capacity and can be used on heavier trailer doors like what you have. • Recommended Ramp Door Spring for 8 Foot Wide Enclosed Trailer
You'll want to choose a spring that's the same width as the ramp door. I'm afraid that the # ERS120D81 you mentioned would be too narrow. You'd want to use #CB250D96SHD, which is 96 inches wide. You'll have to take about 2 inches off each side of the pipe, but this would be your best bet. We HIGHLY recommend having the spring installed by somebody who's experienced with torsion springs. Tensioning the spring is a dangerous job that shouldn't be undertaken by somebody who's not familiar...

  • Distance Between Strap Anchors for M3 Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD

  • Recommended Ramp Spring for Toy Hauler
I'd recommend a heavy duty ramp spring like part # CB250D96SHD. The unit is 96 inches wide, but could be cut down to a minimum of 80 inches if needed. It's recommended that these springs be professionally installed, as torsion springs can be extremely dangerous to install unless you're familiar with how to tension the springs.

  • What is the Purpose of Trailer Ramp Springs
The cable part # CAB1-8CB150 is a replacement for springs like # CB250D96SHD which is designed to help make raising and lowering a heavy trailer easier. For securing the door shut you would need to use a latch like the part # 305736.

  • Can A Second Spring Be Added To A Ramp Door For Easier Operation
It is possible to add a second spring and this will help some with the added weight but the best option would be to purchase a new dual set. The second spring is really just an additional cable for security. The new dual set allows you to get a higher rated spring which is where you will see the most benefit in helping with the extra weight. Furthermore, unless you know what exact weight spring you have now it would not be possible to order just a single spring. There isn't any sort of...

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring Assist For A 8 Foot Trailer
When installing a spring assist on your 8.5 foot wide trailer I recommend The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8 foot Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring - 250-lb Capacity # CB250D96SHD. This will work for you 8-1/2 foot because of where the springs actually mount. This dual-spring setup lets you easily open and close the ramp door on your enclosed trailer and eliminates the risk of it freefalling. It will fit trailer doors between 80 inches to 96 inches wide. It has a sturdy steel construction...

  • Can the Enclosed Ramp Spring CB250D96SHD Be Trimmed Down to 81 inches
Yes, you could trim down the ends of the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD to take it down to 80 inches minimum. If you need anything shorter, then I recommend using the 94 inch # 362SW81 instead to give you a few more inches to play with.

  • When Does the Spring Tighten and Loosen on an Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring
On a torsion spring like that on # CB250D96SHD when the door is opening downward the line is spooling out and the spring will get tighter. When the line is spooling in, closing the door, the spring will relax or get looser. As such if you have not worked with torsion springs before we strongly recommend having a professional perform the installation. A local over head door company should be able to help.

  • Options for Trailer Ramp Lift Springs for Ramps that Weigh Well Over 100 lbs
If it's a utility trailer with side rails I recommend you use the part # RS16933LH and # RS16933RH. An alternative if you have the side rails on your utility trailer is # RA-27C as it is designed for helping lift trailer ramps. If you have an enclosed trailer you could use the part # CB250D96SHD as an overhead torsion spring to help lift the ramps. This is rated for 250 lbs capacity for an enclosed trailer ramp.

  • 96 Inch Wide Redline Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring Recommendation for a 8x16 ft Homestead Trailer
The Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD that you referenced would be great to help you with the heavy door that is on your 8 foot by 16 foot homestead trailer. This spring is 96 inches long and should work well for you since your trailer is 8 feet (96 inches) long. For the hinge, I recommend the Continuous Hinge - Steel - 5" Wide - 96" Long # PLR844.

For a worm gear winch you might use the 1500-lb rated Dutton-Lainson # DL10950 that can be used with winch cable # DL24100. Two links at right will take you to...
