This ball mount gives me the adjustment I needed on my Dodge Grand Caravan when I rent different trailers. The part that goes into the hitch does have a little play but it is no worse than my current fixed height ball mount. The adjustable ball mount with the 2 pins also has about a 1/8" play so be ready for that if you buy this adjustable ball mount. That would be the only improvement I think they could make in the future is to have the pins a little larger and/or the holes a little smaller to reduce the play. However, this might just be the way these need to be designed at this price point based on the research I have done with other adjustable hitches.

Unit worked, but the fit between the 2.5" adapter and the hitch was loose. It caused the trailer to rock back and forth with every application of the brakes. Had to make shims to stop unit from clanking. Felt like if length of attaching piece was longer it would had helped. Attached picture to help illustrate.

It was one of the few things that gave me enough drop to hook my Truck up to my small utility trailer! hook my Tahoe up to my small utility trailer

I have a new 2020 Chevrolet Traverse which replaced a 2017 model. I travel between New York State and Florida each winter hauling a small cargo trailer, This year I discovered the trailer was not riding level as it did with the previous car and was about 6 to8 inches high at the front of the trailer. Aside from the appearance factor this condition made it difficult to load and unload the trailer, the contents of which tended to gravitate toward the rear. After unloading I looked at a few hitch replacements but none had sufficient "drop" to rectify this condition. This less than satisfactory solution and the price prompted me to look elsewhere. I got on line at etrailer.com and found the answer to my problem at a more reasonable price. The adjustable hitch is a heavy duty unit and my troubles are history.

This product was received and installed on the follow day (today). It was installed into a C13587 Curt trailer hitch receiver bought from etrailer previously and installed onto a Mercury Montery FuddyDuddyMoble. My concern all along has been pulling a small boat with this vehicle, but, the video for the this trailer hitch receiver IS THE SAME VEHICLE (but the Ford version) as I have, and mine has a factory installed Class II towing package. EVERYTHING went extremely smooth. etrailer's videos are clear, helpful and instill confidence. This adjustable ball mount slipped easily into the receiver, the pins (2) slipped into the connection easily, AND, the snap lock pins were easily assembled by hand. I was thinking they might require some force with a tool, but it wasn't necessary. I only have one warning about etrailer's recommendations and products: They'll make you think you're a better mechanic than you actually are.

by:

I use it on my 112 foot utility trailer and it works great . I did have to get the right length so it would fit thru the receiver fOr a 2 ' BALL

by:

It's just a ball mount but what really stands out is the ease of use of their web site and the excellent delivery time.

Have purchased several items in the past and always excellent delivery time. I've never had to contact customer service which in itself say everything.

If you need anything to do with trailer or attaching trailer to vehichles this is the place to go.

by:

Explained that I up graded to a 3/4 ton and needed a adjustable drop that would still use a 1 inch shank ball mount. They found just what I needed and at the best price.

  • Can a High/Low Adapter be Used to Tow Pintle Hook Trailer With Standard 2-Inch Hitch
Since the height of your pintle-equipped military trailer is so much greater than the height of the hitch on your Honda Pilot (possibly as much as 2 feet) I am not sure there is any way to keep the trailer level when hitched. We do not offer an adapter that can make up this substantial height difference. I suggest you check your Honda Pilot owners manual to confirm the vehicle tow rating. Tow ratings can vary by model year and based on the specific equipment set in your Pilot. You want...

  • Can a Trailer Ride With the Tongue at an Upward or Downward Angle
Yes, a trailer that is nose up can cause big problems. A level trailer is ideal and worth working toward for safety. The good news is that you can get the trailer almost exactly level with switching ball mounts. This is where an adjustable ball mount like Convert-a-Ball # TK5007 comes in handy. If you are unable to achieve level even with an adjustable ball mount, it is better for the trailer to be slightly nose down so long as the tongue weight capacity of the hitch and vehicle is not...

  • Adjustable Ball Mount Option that Can do Drop of 10 inches and is Cost Effective
Clearance issues with the collar lock style of trailer couplers are not typical. I'd be inclined to believe the issue is related to the ball mount you have now not having the clearance. We have the Convert-a-Ball adjustable ball mount # TK5007 which can do a drop of up to 10 inches and is priced really great. This gives a very standard ball mount platform too so clearance would not be an issue. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Can the Adjustable Ball Mount TK5007 Be Used in Both Rise and Drop Orientation
The Adjustable Ball Mount # TK5007 can be used as either a rise or drop hitch, so you can use it in either manner without compromising the strength of the setup. This ball mount can be adjusted by either flipping it upside down, or removing the pull pins and flipping the ball mount in the other direction. I've linked a review video we did of this ball mount for you to have a look at, as well.

  • How Close Does Trailer Ball Height Need to be to the Height of the Trailer Coupler
The trick here is to get as close as possible. If you are talking about less than 2 inches or so, there is nothing to worry about. Having the trailer tongue a bit too high is preferable to it being too low. You may be a good candidate for an adjustable ball mount. I would recommend the Convert-A-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount, part # TK5007 which adjusts between a 10 inch drop to a 9 inch rise. I am including a link to a demonstration video showing the features of the # TK5007 ballmount,...

  • Rise or Drop of Ball Mount Needed for 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
There is no specific 'best' rise or length of ball mount for a given vehicle. Since the hitch and coupler height of every vehicle and every trailer is different, you'll need to take some measurements. To determine the rise/drop of ball mount needed, you'd want to measure the distance from the inside top of the hitch receiver tube to the ground. Then with the trailer level, measure the distance from the underside of the trailer coupler to the ground. The difference between the measurements...

There are a few factors that you will need to consider when choosing a trailer hitch for your 1999 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4. First, you will need to know the weight of the trailer or trailers that you intend to pull and the towing capacity of your truck. Yes. You can use 1-7/8 inch ball # 19260 with the Adjustable Ball Mount # TK5007. The ball mount accepts a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank so if you ever need a different ball size make sure it has a 1 inch diameter shank.

  • Measuring for the Right Amount of Drop to Tow a Trailer Level with a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
First we need to make sure that you are measuring correctly to determine the amount of drop needed to tow the trailer level. Since your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee and trailer are not on level ground you would just have to make sure the vertical measurement is perpendicular to the ground (see illustration). Although technically as long as you are measuring the same way on both the Jeep and trailer it would be fine. On the vehicle you are measuring up to the top of the hitch receiver opening....

Yes, the Adjustable Ball Mount # TK5007 comes with 2 pins for the adjustable ball mount part and then a third pin for the shank. If you would like to add some locks to this then you can also get the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98881 as well. This can take the place of the hitch pin and the adjustable ball mount and can be ordered keyed alike so you can use the same key to unlock the shank and the adjustable ball mount.

  • When Measuring Height To Find the Correct Ball Mount Should Load In Tow Vehicle Be Factored In
Normally the load in the rear of the towing vehicle is not factored in when measuring for the correct ball mount, because the load might not be the same each time you will be towing. If the load in the rear of your vehicle will be the same amount each time you will be towing, then you could account for the extra drop in hitch height. The most important thing when choosing the correct ball mount is to have both the tow vehicle and the trailer level, without a load, when measuring. With...
