Is the Hitch Receivers Tongue Weight Capacity Affected By the Rise and Drop of a Ball Mount?
Question:
Does the hitch tongue weight capacity decrease with the use of a receiver with a rise? I am looking to install a Class I hitch but will need almost a 6 inch rise to make the trailer coupler level. If the hitch has an original 200 pound tongue weight limit, will it still be 200 pound limit with a 6 inch rise?

The hitch capacity and tongue weight is not affected by the drop and rise of a ball mount or shank. For your 2020 Hyundai Sonata we have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C23HR. This is a custom fit hitch that will attach to your Sonata with included hardware and requires no drilling or welding of your frame.
To address the almost 6" rise you said you were needing I recommend the Curt Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches item # C45028. This ball mount has a rise of 5 3/8".
If you need a hitch ball. We have a 2" ball item # C40018 and a 1 7/8" ball item # C40001.
