Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Pins and Clips - Standard Hitch Pin - F-4 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number F-4. This is the Curt Class I and Class II Pin and Clip. It's going to give us a diameter of 1/2". This is designed for 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch openings. The overall length of the pin is going to give us a measurement of right at 4". The amount of usable space that we have is from the pin hole to the curve. That's going to give us a measurement of 2-1/2".

It does come with a retaining clip. That way you can secure the clip on the other side of the pin. The way this works is you just, in your Class I or Class II hitch, after you get your accessory loaded up, you need to line up your pin holes, place the pin through one side of the hitch, through the accessory pin holes and out the other side of the hitch. Once you have that through you just simply take the clip and place it on the other side of the pin to secure everything in there and to make sure that your accessory is not going to come out of your hitch. It has this nice point tip. That way it's just an easier installation as you slide it through the pin holes. That's going to do it for today's review of part number F-4.

This is the Curt Class I and Class II Pin and Clip measuring 1/2" in diameter. .

Very nice Hitch Pin & Clip. Fits really well, I had some in the past that didn't.

Excellent service, quick responses to questions and delivery

Great product, tho directions called for 19mm socket (actually uses 18mm socket). Installed in my driveway using common tools, and drove the rear wheels up on some blocks of wood to get a couple extra inches of space to work. I loved the 'fishing wires' that came with to get the bolts and spacers through the holes - how clever!

by:

I always seem to miss place the pins so I got extra, the personal at rtrailer are great, Tammie you did a great job, that's why I keep coming back

Works great, Tammie did a great job,I will an have told my friends

by:

I got this a year ago to install on my tiny Honda Fit.It was easy to put together myself. I needed extra room to attend art fairs with all my product and displays. It works very well and so easy to take off and put it back on whenever I need to use it.

by:

Rcvd my hitch today (one day earlier than predicted by etrailer when I ordered...well done!). Everything was received as expected/requested.
Crawled under the car and started installation immediately. Piece of cake really; although some people would struggle with the tight space, 13 year old car, and need to clean threads, and remove caulk/undercoat in order to achieve "hole alignment".
Hyundai also did a great job by having pre-threaded welded nuts in place.
So far.... a great product received in time to use this weekend (as was my plan).

Great job and great product by etrailer.
Also, the website was easy to use and the videos quite helpful.
I will be back!
Thank you,

Hitch etc is holding up fine. Routinely used to pull trailers up to 2000 lbs with a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. I avoid going over 55 mph, or sway is detectable.

by:

They did the job!

by:

Arrived 1 day early. Will buy from etrailer agin

by:

I ordered this part by accident I didn't notice it came with the hitch. I'm going to keep it. I have a bolt in one of my other vehicles.

by:

like the stuff I;ve ordered so far!

by:

Fits good and tight into the space available, and designed to take advantage of the strongest part of the unibody.
Pro tip #1: On Subaru installations calling for cutting out an opening, take the time to remove the bumper, allowing access to the unibody tunnel without hacking a hole into it, to insert the carriage bolts and reinforcement plates.
Pro tip #2: While you have access to the unibody tunnel, now is a great time to apply Fluid Film/Woolwax/B'laster Surface Shield to the interior of the unibody, bumper, and undercarriage, to make your automobile last much longer!

by:

It’s a hitch pin, it worked great. I don’t leave my hitch on 24/7. I would recommend a locking hitch pin if you plan on leaving your hitch on permanently. I only use mine a few times per year, so this one was perfect.

by:

Nice fit. Shipped fast.

by:

It's a hitch pin. What could go wrong.

Thanks
for the fine service and quick delivery.

by:

The most straight forward install ever. Excellent instructions, four bolts and your done. The only thing you really need is a torque wrench. Well designed product and no interference with stock exhaust on my 2011 VW GTI.

by:

Ended up not needing it because bike rack came with pin but good for a back up I suppose.

by:

As described, it's a hitch pin and clip for 1-1/4" hitches. Wow!

by:

self explanatory.

by:

Quick. Fair Price. Excellent Communication. First, we ordered the hitch and had it installed. Then we needed the perfect fit for the task at hand: to pull a tank with gray water through a campground. Very specific. Just for our toad, a Smart car.
Etrailer.com has the perfect software to lead you to what you need for the perfect combination. Quick shipment, reasonably priced. Direct communication for every step in the process. All in all, exactly what you’d hope for during these extremely dysfunctional time.

by:

Both products I ordered were received within 2 days. Etrailer provided excellent communication throughout, letting me know who was responsible for overseeing my order and it's status.

by:

Every part excellent quality. Perfect fit, all parts were exact for my vehicle. Watched the video on youtube for wiring and being a mechanic for over 50 years was able to connect signal lights all from driver side of harness. Instead of leaving plug inside trunk I wired through the rubber outlet to the back of the hitch ready for use. Very happy highly recommend etrailer.

Very happy with products all high quality feel confident using. Thanks

by:

I ordered parts for trailer hitch and lights a year ago. My car guys installed it apparently with no problem. There was no problem with my order and the product has worked just fine. The hitch has been used to pull a trailer and to hold a bike rack. I am pleased! Thanks!

by:

I am so glad I decided to do this. I am a novice and it took my a little longer to install it but I had no issues. It is very sturdy and stable. This allowed me to install a lockable bike rack for mountain biking trips. I have been using this for 2 months now on 7 or 8 mountain bike outings and this hitch is solid. Great purchase. Well worth it.

by:

Well this install on my '05 Outback Wagon was more challenging than the last one I did on my '05 Baja but all's well that ends well. Haven't done the wiring yet because the hardware install took all day but confidence is high. These guys make a quality product!

  • Does My 2020 RAM 3500 Have Non-Standard Hitch Pin?
We have never seen an 1/2" diameter hitch pin on a 2-1/2" receiver. They all have 5/8" standard. We only see the 1/2" pins on the small 1-1/4" receivers. I would measure your hitch pin carefully. Is it possible that everything is 5/8" but just has a loose fit? Hitch parts do not have tight tolerances and tend to wiggle and rattle a little. Most likely your setup is just fine.If the rattling becomes annoying you can always add a Trailer Hitch Anti-Rattle Kit for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches,...

The trailer hitch has a bolt-on installation with no welding required. It has a black powder coat finish that covers an e-coat base that offers a superior rust protection. The trailer hitch has a maximum tongue weight up to 200 pounds, but I would recommend checking your vehicle's manual to find out the proper tongue weight capacity...

  • Pin and Clip That is 1/2 Diameter and 4 Long
I'm not 100 percent sure what you mean by "latch pin or something" but I am assuming you mean a pin and clip, and we do have one that is 1/2" diameter and 4" long, the Curt Class I and II Pin and Clip # F-4. This pin and clip is a total of 4" long overall with a 2-1/2" long straight pin. The 1/2" diameter is standard for a hitch pin and clip for a 1-1/4" receiver so the straight part of these is not going to be as long. If you were looking for a hitch lock the longest with a 1/2" diameter...

  • What Adapter Do You Recommend for Making a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Take a 2-Inch Accessory?
For this issue, I recommend the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD. From the pinhole to the end of the part that is inserted into the hitch receiver is just under 1-1/2 inches. We have had other customers with 2021 Volvo XC60s confirmed that the length issue was bypassed by this receiver. In order to know if it will work for sure with your hitch receiver, I recommend that you insert a tape measure into the hitch receiver and measure the length from the backstop to...

  • Best 1/2 Inch Hitch Pin that is Long Enough to Fit a 2 Inch Hitch Receiver
Is there a threaded nut inside the shank of the bike rack? My guess is that is the case. I would need to know the bike rack manufacturer and the model though the model is not as important as the manufacturer. If you can tell me that information I can determine if we have the proper threaded hitch bolt for that rack. If it does not have a threaded hitch pin hole and the issue is length you can use the Curt Clevin Pin with Handle # C45805. This pin has a 6-7/8 inch usable span so it is plenty...

Yes! I confirmed with Curt that a great hitch that will fit your 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible TDI diesel is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - 1-1/4" # C11260. Not only does the hitch provide you with 150 pounds of maximum tongue weight and 1,500 pounds of maximum gross towing weight, it also comes with a gloss outer coat over the base powder coat to give you ultimate protection against rust and corrosion. If you need a compatible hitch pin, I recommend the # F-4.

You'll want to make sure that the hitch on your Escape has sufficient capacity to handle the pop-up you're planning on towing. • Why Does my 2 Inch Hitch have a 1/2 in Pin Hole and a 5/8 in Pin hole
The Curt Pin and Clip # F-4 that you referenced is designed to work on 1-1/4 inch hitches. The reason your hitch has a 1/2 inch hole and a 5/8 inch hole is because it is setup for an obsolete anti-rattle device Draw Tite J-Pin. We no longer carry the J-Pin so that hole is no longer used. This 1/2 inch hole is not designed to be use as a hitch pin hole, you will want to use 5/8 inch pin and clip like the # PC3.
