I put a 1.25" trailer hitch on a Ford Fusion Hybrid so I could mount one of my cargo baskets that require a 2" hitch on it. It worked fine to allow for this.

by:

Working fine for me. It sticks out from behind car, but I like it this way as to reach it.

by:

Great product

by:

I have a bike rack and hitch mount that have a 2 inch mount but only a 1 1/4 receiver on my car so this solved the problem and works great.

by:

Should work if I can get the right trailer hitch!!!

by:

This is my third purchase in 3 months from e-trailer and each one has been an excellent customer experience with a high quality product. Keep up that efficient service!

by:

Great product
Thanks

by:

Worked exactly how I expected based off of description. Exactly what I needed. Thanks

by:

Product works after many attempts to rubber mallet it into the 1 1/4 inch receiver. The paint was so thick that I couldn’t push it in by hand. Some WD 40 and mallet smacks later, it not slides in, but still needs to be tapped out with the mallet. More annoying than anything else.

Sometimes what happens during the powder coat process is that the paint is put on a little thick, which can cause the application to not fit properly. We recommend lightly sanding the adapter where it is not fitting and then covering it with a rustoleum type of paint.

by:

Not sure if it is the adapter or the hitch that is too large or too small...

Etrailer Expert

What can happen is that a 1.25 hitch receiver does not always measure exactly 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches. There is a manufacturing tolerance involved that allows the receiver to be a few hundredths of an inches larger or smaller than 1.25 inches, but still be within tolerance. Due to the fact that the connection between a hitch receiver and the shank of a ball mount or hitch mounted accessory is not meant to be a precision fit. Sometimes the hitch opening will be smaller while the shank of the accessory is larger and it can be a very tight fit.

by:

Does what it should do.

by:

It fits fine but is a little loose. I have a welding buddy that's going to fix that

Etrailer Expert

I would not recommend welding the hitch adapter to the hitch. Instead, I recommend using an anti-rattle device like part # RM-061-125 to make it fit tighter in the receiver.

by:

not much to say...solid build.

by:

fits perfectly

by:

Met all of my expectations.

by:

Great quality but I decided to send it back because I made a change.

by:

Worked as expected

by:

Works as advertised, just needed an adaptor from 1.25 to 2 inches.

by:

Very good stuff!!!! Hell ya

Perfect service and part

  • Is There a 2" Trailer Hitch for a 2023 Mazda CX-30 for Bike Rack
I do have a solution for you but the only trailer hitch options we offer for a 2023 Mazda CX-30 are class 1, 1-1/4" like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C49CR which is what I recommend. That said, as you mentioned you can use a 1-1/4" to 2" adapter like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter part # e43YR but this not only reduces capacity but it also increase play/rattle. Therefore, I know this is not what you want to hear but your best option is a new rack like the Saris Freedom Bike...

  • Options For Preventing Wobble And Rattle When Using A Hitch Expander On A 2022 Acura RDX
All hitch expanders, like the etrailer.com # e43YR, will have a little play in them, and especially with this size. This is due to tolerances when building hitches and adapters and needing everything to fit, well, everything. The best way to combat this play is to use an anti rattle device. With that being said, the anti rattle devices available for 1-1/4" hitches are a little more difficult to install and remove than those of larger sizes. This is due to them being a little less common,...

  • Solution for Carrying Bikes With 2012 Lexus CT 200h
The only hitch confirmed to fit your 2012 Lexus CT 200h is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11200. Unfortunately, there are no 2" hitches available. I would not recommend attempting to modify your vehicle to attach a 2" hitch that was not intended for your Lexus. I also would not recommend using an adapter like the # e43YR to make your bike rack fit a 1-1/4" hitch since it will reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50%. This would only leave you with 100...

  • Do They Make a 2" Trailer Hitch for a 2023 Hyundai Venue
The only trailer hitch options for a 2023 Hyundai Venue are class I, 1-1/4" like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C57CR which is what I recommend. That said, you can convert this to a 2" hitch using an adapter like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter part # e43YR or part # e93YR. Please note, using said adapter will reduce the hitch capacity by 50%. Unfortunately, the Hyundai Venue is a subcompact so they don't make the larger hitch size for this as the vehicle can't benefit from...

  • Is it Safe to Use Hitch Adapter on 2017 Chevy Bolt EV Class I Hitch to Transport an E-Bike
Price does play a pretty important role when choosing a trailer hitch, but for your application you really need to use the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7359 for transporting your e-bike with your 2017 Chevy Bolt EV. When you use an adapter, like the 1-1/4" to 2" Adapter # e43YR, you'll be reducing the weight capacity of the hitch by 50%. This is due to the extension causing more exaggerated movement since it sits further out. So not only will the weight rating of the hitch...

The only trailer hitch options for a 2023 Kia Soul are class I, 1-1/4" like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C67FR which is what I recommend using. That said, you can use an adapter to expand the 1-1/4" to 2" like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter part # e43YR or part # e93YR. Please note, the use of these adapters will cut your hitch/vehicle capacity in half.

I do have a recommendation for you as it sounds like you have a class I receiver with a stop on your 2021 Volvo XC60. The stop prevents class II accessories like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # e43YR from being used. It has a measurement of 2" from the receiver pin center hole to the end of the receiver tube. The Brophy Hitch Adapter # HTAD is 1/2" shorter from the receiver pin hole to the end of the shank at 1-1/2". You could also consider installing a Curt Trailer Hitch...

  • Using a 2" Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack With a 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver
I do have a recommendation for you as Thule only offers the Replacement 1-1/4" Hitch and Backbone Assembly # 753370902 for changing your Thule T2 Classic 2" to a 1-1/4". You can use either a Straight Adapter # e43YR or Rise Adapter # HT5R to adapt your 1-1/4" hitch to carry the 2" bike rack. Do note that the adapter will reduce the tongue weight rating on your receiver by 50%. So if you have a tongue weight rating of 350lbs you will have to stay 175lbs or below for the adapter.

That said, you can use an adapter like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" part # e43YR or part # e93YR but just keep in mind, they reduce capacity so you're now limited to 100 lbs for the bikes and rack.

You may not be able to use an Adapter # e43YR with your Kuat bike rack and the Curt trailer Hitch Receiver # C49CR on your 2023 Mazda CX-30. Since the receiver is rated for 200lbs of tongue weight and the use of an adapter lowers the receiver capacity by 50%. So with the receiver only being able to then support 100lbs, the Adapter # e43YR weighing 6lbs and the Kuat Bike Rack # BA22B weighing 52lbs it leaves you with only 42lbs for your bikes.
