Specs:

  • Application: 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers
  • Drop/rise: 4"
  • Receiver: 2" x 2"
  • Tongue weight: 400 lbs
  • Gross towing weight: 10,000 lbs
  • Length: 14-5/8" overall
    • 9-5/8" From center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch pin hole
    • 4-1/2" From center of hitch pin hole to angled bracket
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Exactly what I needed to level my flat towing setup after lifting my Jeep.

by:

Looks like a great well made product. I'm sure it will meet my needs.

by:

The hitch adapter was exactly as described and is going to work perfectly. Ordering on the website was easy and shipping was as promised. I didn't really consider the extension aspect, but that will also work well for me. I know I don't have my safety cables hooked up correctly in the photo (they should cross under the hitch) but I was just trying it on for size.

by:

Great product for price. The u bolt system seems to b perfect as it took all slack out of receiver and drop hitch. The staff at e trailer go beyond expectations for customer service and provides excellent information on needed products. My complete tow pkg came from etrailer. I have bought from them in past and probably won't waste my time shopping for better price as these people are the "bomb". Hope this product works well as I just intstalled and will report after next trip. Luv etrailer. (:

by:

No matter we order from your company all of you are always on time and the price is right. We have enjoyed doing business with you.

Keep up the good work!

Towing an F150 behind my RV. Good tight stable sway free fit with thin 1mm shims.

by:

Definitely good quality products and superfast deliveries. This is one company that really cares about the customers. I would recommend etrailer to everyone. I've got my 2017 Tacoma all ready to plow thanks to etrailer.
Thank You to all the people who work for etrailer...... Great job!

by:

eTrailer is the only place I go for accessories and parts! The best prices, easy to order, and shipping is fast!

by:

Very well built.

by:

Everything installed without any issues. I'm very particular so it took 2 days to complete everything. I'm sure a pro could do it much faster. Have towed the 4" lifted (and loaded) Jeep accross the Rockies about 6 times and everything is working perfectly!! Very happy camper!!

by:

Always a pleasure dealing with etrailer. Great customer service.

by:

Arrived in good shape well packaged it is a solid and well constructed

by:

that hole in the solid bar is too far to the back by 4-6". i'm going to a metal fabricator tomorrow to see if he can drill it where it should be. as is, the receiver opening will be extended way to far out from the truck hitch.

Tommy, Thank you for your review. We do have high low adapters that measure shorter center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch pin hole. The high low adapter you purchased part RM-048-4 measures 9-5/8. I am assuming you need a 4 inch rise to be level. Part # RM-048-4 by Roadmaster is 6-1/2 pin hole to pin hole. This part allows for up to 500 lbs in tongue weight. I have looked at the other options and this is the shortest measurement on a high low adapter with the rise and capacity you need. We do not recommend drilling a hole in the part because it can negatively affect the structural integrity of the part, causing safety issues in the future. I have attached a link for the Roadmaster part below.

Tommy

I took your advice and didnt drill the hitch, so nothing has changed in my review.

by:

Ms Paula and crew always take care of our orders. She also follows up to make sure we get what we need. Great customer service.

by:

This hitch adapter worked as intended aligning the tow bar with the rv hitch! Etrailer is the best!

by:

I had bent one leg of the towbar. I called Roadmaster to understand why for a second time. They explained that I was out of tolerance level. I was about to order when they reflected that etrailer would sell it cheaper and get it to me faster. Etrailer knew exactly what I wanted and did sell it less expensive and got it to me within a couple of days. They also had the correct hitch extension and height adjustment that I needed to correct the root cause. 20000 miles and no reoccurance. No impact to my Motor Home trip.

by:

The product arrived two days after I ordered it. I ordered an additional hitch pin and an anti-rattle clamp to go with it, and they were both there too. Everything fit, and worked just as advertised. No real surprises there, but always good when even simple things work out as they should. My main reason for writing a review is to draw attention to the number of folks that I see cruising the highways without a hitch drop like this to align their tow bar setup properly. This part wasn't expensive or difficult to find or install. Kudos to etrailer for making it easy.

by:

I am sorry to have to give this low rating, but the only way the holes line up if the receiver hitch adapter is in the Rise position. We need it in the Drop position. I’ll call you tomorrow.

by:

Excellent customer service, even when the customer makes dumb mistakes like I did.
Great quality products as well.
There are 150 people living at my shipping address, it would have been helpful if my name were on the package instead of my phone number.

by:

I have been setting up my 2017 Fiat for towing with my mhome. All parts were on time and worked perfectly. Greg & Reesa was very helpful and knew exactly what I would need to get the job done. Etrailer has my business from now on . The patriot 2 brake system works excellent and that was my biggest concern. Glad I called on etrailer and will again in the future, they have it going on!

by:

Fast shipping and exactly what I needed for towing F-150 with Etrailer recommendeded Roadmaster Blackhawk2 towing setup. Feel much better with Roadmaster 10k rating (matching the towbar) rather than lower rated locally available adapters.

by:

Got it really fast, and the salesman was a great help!

by:

Very heavy solid steel adapter with 10,000 pound rating. Allows me to tow my Silverado 2500 behind my RV with the tow bar levil

by:

Needed a 4” riser to get my motorcycle carrier to have some ground clearance on our motor home. This worked perfect for my needs

by:

Although I haven't used yet, (will in 2 wks), the hitch extension appears to be well made.
etrailer provided superb service and this heavy product arrived in good shape, no damage to the carton or the hitch.

  • Availability of 10k 4 inch Rise/Drop High Low Adapter for 2017 Thor Hurricane 31s
Sounds like you are looking for the part # RM-048-4. This is a Roadmaster High Low adapter with a 10k capacity that has 4 inch rise/drop. The fit of this is RV specific so that's why it's not listed as a fit for your 2017 Thor Hurricane. It will fit and work well though.

  • Can the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter Part # RM-048-4 be Used with a Motorcycle Carrier
The best option we have for you is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter part # RM-048-4 which is designed for flat-towing but can be used for hitch-mounted accessories like your motorcycle carrier. However, as you mentioned you will sacrifice some of the tongue weight capacity when using this or any adapter for that matter. The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter has a weight capacity of 400 lbs but it also reduces the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50%. If the tongue weight capacity...

  • Will the Roadmaster 4" High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars Work in Drop Position
The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars part # RM-048-4 can be used in either the rise or drop position, the pin alignment would be the same either way. If used in the rise position, it will provide a 4" rise or if used in the drop position, it will provide a 4" drop. I did see 1 review out of 124 which stated it would not work in the drop position but it's hard telling what they were doing so it should not concern you as the adapter is designed to work either way and we've used...

The Blue Ox 2-Inch High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-048-4 has a 10,000-lb towing capacity in both 4-inch rise or 4-inch drop positions. If your towed car is now showing unusual tire wear when towed by your new motorhome you will want to make sure that when hitched at both ends your tow bar is close to perfectly level. If the tow bar were to be several inches lower at the motorhome end it could pull down on the front of the toad and cause more pressure and wear on the tires. Tow bars...

It sounds like you just need a properly sized ball mount to tow the camper with your 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. Another possible option is to use an adjustable tow bar. That way you can adjust one ball mount for use on 2 vehicles. I have included a link to the adjustable ball mounts we carry and a link to an FAQ article that explains how to measure for the correct rise or drop needed to tow a trailer level. I may have a solution for you, and it generally sounds like you're in need of a high/low adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-048-4, which has 4" rise and a 10000-lbs capacity that would work well for this application. • How to Choose the Correct High-Low Adapter for Flat Towing
It sounds to me like you are referring to a high-low adapter. A high-low adapter will attach to the RV's trailer hitch receiver and lower/raise the height at which the tow bar connects to the RV. Generally speaking, in order to find the correct high-low adapter you will first need to measure from the ground up to the center of the trailer hitch receiver opening and then from the ground up to the center of the base plate kit. • Compatibility of High-Low Adapter with Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Carrier
The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-048-4 will allow you to use your carrier and give you the 4 inch drop. However, you will also reduce the tongue weight of your trailer hitch by 50%. So your hitch itself will need a tongue weight rating of 720 lbs or higher for this combination to work for you. The issue with using an adapter is that reduction in tongue weight capacity because of the extra torque that is added to the hitch receiver. Due to the weight of a motorcycle,...

If the 400lbs. max weight is the tongue weight of the trailer hitch then it would be reduced to 200lbs. and if you plan to carry 400 lbs. you will need to be sure that your hitch has an 800 lb tongue weight capacity.
