  • 10 Inch Rise/Drop
  • Fits 2 Inch Hitch

Make up for the height difference between your RV and towed vehicle with this hitch adapter. Provides either a 10-1/4" drop or a 10-1/4" rise. Solid shank provides strength and durability.

Features:

  • Allows for proper positioning of tow bar
    • Makes up for height difference between RV's hitch and towed vehicle's base plates
    • Also lets you mount a bike rack, cargo carrier, or other 2" hitch accessory
  • Provides either drop or rise for adequate ground clearance
  • Constructed of sturdy steel
    • Solid shank for superior strength and durability
  • Resists rust and corrosion with black powder coat finish
  • Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock sold separately
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers
  • Drop/rise: 10-1/4"
  • Receiver: 2" x 2"
  • Tongue weight: 400 lbs
  • Gross towing weight: 10,000 lbs
  • Length:
    • 11-1/4" From center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch pin hole
    • 4-1/2" From center of hitch pin hole to angled brace
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

The item looks fine. The implement would not slide into the hitch as the tolerance was too slim, not sure if it was the receiver or the implement, but I had to grind down the edges of the implement to get it to slide into the hitch.

by:

etrailer customized the RM-048-10 by lengthening the shaft so that it would fit through the bumper of our Class C RV and be strong enough to support the Stowaway 2 Cargo Carrier. It works beautifully! During travel there is some left to right wiggle that occurs with the carrier. We solved this problem with ratchet straps to secure both sides of the carrier. The hitch is stout and strong, and does the job! Of course we strengthened it with the clamps, so the hitch is solid and unmovable. With the custom hitch, the Stowaway 2 carrier is lifted enough so that it doesn't bottom out when traveling up or down steep hills. etrailer staff are very easy to work with, along with the brilliant engineers who communicated well with the exact details of the design to assure the build worked safely. It is an excellent hitch; worth the value. We're on the road again with all of our lawn chairs/tables, etc. in the cargo carrier out of the elements, instead of inside the RV. Great work, etrailer! Thank you! S&S

Arrived sooner than expected. Etrailer ships very fast. It's a steel hitch... and works great.

I have been using this hitch for a year now. It is still rock solid.

by:

It does what I expected it to do. I use it on front of truck hitch to lower bike rack I use when pulling fifth wheel trailer (back hitch isn't useable).

by:

This was the perfect height to level my tow bar to my lifted jeep. I recommend using a good quality clamp on the upper and lower receiver to stabilize the hitch assembly.

by:

Mounted on Jeep Grand Cherokee to lower hitch for attachment of wheelchair/scooter carrier. Does the job, and also extends the carrier further rearward, which provides sufficient clearance for the rear hatch to clear the scooter when loaded.

by:

Required an hi/low hitch receiver of either 6" or 10" drop, was not sure which, & a light weight cargo carrier for traveling. Called etrailer and very heloful, patient and knowledgable CSR Cathy T fixed me up. Arrived on time. No problems.

by:

It's a big drop, 10 inches. I needed to get a 35 gal. tank low enough to the ground to drain waste water from my camper and take it to the dump station without always hooking back up to the camper. The waste tank sets on the aluminum platform and is easily transported to where it needs to go. The high-low adapter is rated at 10,000 pounds and more than I need for this application but it's going to be used for other things too.

by:

Great product! Used this to lift ups reciever hitch basket on my Honda Pioneer. Well built and extremely fast shipping. Thank you

by:

Works great

by:

No good for a rise. The angle caused too much leverage and the pin hole does not leave enough depth for a deep shank. No way this thing is doing 400 lb TW without bending up your hitch/frame. Looked shakey at 200lb. I got the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7" Rise/Drop - 12" Long and use that one instead.

The highlow adapter is primarily designed for use when flat towing a vehicle, where theres no tongue weight applied to it. If used for a hitch mounted accessory, the tongue weight capacity of the hitch and the adapter itself is reduced by 50. The adapter is NOT meant for towing a trailer.

by:

I needed a raised hitch for a Polaris Ranger, worked absolutely perfect.
Heavy duty product and shipped the same day I ordered. More than happy with this hitch.

by:

Product was what I wanted and quick shipping! Great price too! Thanks E Trailer!

by:

Had to place shims on each side and top to prevent jerking.

by:

I tow my jeep wrangler with a 2-1/2" lift kit with 33 off road tires, behind with my motorcoach, the 10 1/4" rise sets my tow bar practically level to my off road Bumper. Heavy duty design works great.

Great purchase no issues

Still working great

by:

Just exactly what I needed. Thanks

by:

I bought this receiver for use with my bike rack. I have a frame mounted receiver on the back of my travel trailer. Before I used the receiver, the tires from my bicycles would strike the ground going over uneven ground, such as driveways. By flipping the receiver upside down, the 10 inch rise gives me tremendous clearance to prevent the bicycle tires from striking the ground. I now use the receiver for the rear receiver on my 3500 GMC. I have used the receiver over one dozen times and have not had any issues.
The only down side, is the weight of the receiver; but for the quality and strength of the receiver, I can happily live with the extra weight.

by:

I have a lifted jeep that I flat tow behind RV, this keeps my tow bar at a better angle with this lifted 10".

Great

by:

I bought the trailer hitch lower kit, works very good and is solid. Bought the locking pin , easy to use and has held up in great condition. Last, I bought the load stabilizer, simple product but effective, thanks guys for being helpful and having great products

by:

I needed this much drop to tow my low Ford Fiesta behind my Winnebago Sightseer. Didn't register how high the hitch was on the Winnebago when I bought it. This adapter fit the bill perfectly, got great service from the folks at etrailer, and have had no problems with the adapter.
You can't go wrong with etrailer.

by:

Recently purchased a Jeep Wrangler to tow behind my motorhome. After replacing tires and adding a suspension lift, my towbar was about 8" off level. The Roadmaster 10" Hi-Low receiver adapter inserted inverted brought my towbar back into perfect level. When I received the hitch adapter, I was surprised to find how beefy it was. The part which goes into the hitch on the motorhome is solid bar stock with a 1/2" stock gusset. Probably overkill for my Wrangler, but gives us piece of mind when towing it.

by:

Heavy-duty very nice hitch. Using in on RV to raise tow bar to the height of my jeep.

by:

I needed this drop bar to level my towed vehicle behind the RV. This piece is extremely well built and levels the tow bar for safe towing.

BOUGHT A NEW RV THAT HAD A RECIVER 28 1/2" OFF THE GROUND. THE CAR I FLAT TOW HAS A FRONT HITCH CONNECTION OF 17 1/2" OFF THE GROUND. THE HITCH
MANUFACTURED SAID THERE COULD BE ONLY 3" DIFFERENCE.I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO BUY A NEW HITCH. BUT ETRAILER HAD A 10" DROP THAT WAS PERFECT AND IT DIDN'T COST AN ARM AND A LEG.
THANKS 2TRAILER

  • Measuring for High Low Adapter to Flat Tow Vehicle Behind Motorhome
The longest adapter we carry is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter - 2" Hitches - 10-1/4" Rise/Drop - 10K GTW, 400 lbs TW # RM-048-10. I don't know if you measured from the top of the receiver opening, but this will get you 10-1/4 inches of drop from the center of the receiver tube opening. Your tow bar can have a 3 inch drop but anything further than that isn't safe due to road bumps. Make sure you are measuring from the ground to the center of your hitch receiver and from the ground to...

Instead of a hi low adapter you would just want to go with a ball mount that will allow your trailer to be towed as level as possible. Picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. Basically you will first measure the height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch while on level...

The high-low adapters that are made more for flat towing setups instead of towing a trailer, like the Roadmaster # RM-048-10 which has a 10-1/4" rise/drop, actually only decrease the tongue weight rating of your trailer hitch when you use it for an accessory like a bike rack. It sounds like the problem you are trying to fix is that your tow bar does not sit level while your Jeep is being flat towed.
