The product was satisfactory but the shipping that was expected turned into an additional 5 days beyond what was promised. Etrailer needs better service from their shipping provider.

Excellent product. Made my life much easier when towing the Jeep behind the motor home. One quick plug in and the Jeep has power to the battery to run the brake controller, turn, running and brake lights.

Happy to report that after the first year my connection cable is still working perfectly. So easy to just plug one cable into Jeep and have all the electronics online, brake controller, charging Jeep battery, Turn-Brake-Running lights all functioning.

by:

This is a great cord for towing. The coil is quite strong and doesn't hang down when towing. It stretches easily enough for a straight run back to the toad, but not enough for a diagonal run, requiring repositioning of the plug socket on the back of the RV.

by:

Good heavy duty product. Fits the plug on my RV and tow vehicle. It is nice to see it glow when I have a good connection.

by:

Very happy with etrailer for the purchase of a Blue Ox tow bar with needed hook ups for lights, etc and an Air Force One Brake system for my 2018 F150. Crystal did a great job of comparing options and matching pricing from across the web. She offered free installation. The Installer, Shane was awesome, I wanted all hookups hidden by the front plate on the F150 when not towing, Shane came through and then some. Finally, the manager Robert was excellent on follow-up as we had some air leak once we got home. etrailer stood behind everything and follow was exceptional. Very pleased!

by:

Only have used it once, so far so good. I really like that it lights up

Product has been working well. Just the right length. Getting ready for season 2 of camping and towing.

by:

While this cable is made well, it used an alternate pin-out for the brake signal which made it unusable in my application. It is also so tightly coiled that while it is technically long enough to connect from motorhome to towed vehicle there is far too much tension on the cable - risking a loss of connection (and the cable itself). Given the extreme tension and fact that the cable used molded connectors - it is not possible to correct the pin-out without shortening the cable further - so this one is on my junk pile.

by:

Description: Hopkins Nite-Glow Tow Bar 7-Way RV to 6-Way Extension Cord cable not really 8' as advertised; My trip last week had many safety problems with this, must stretch it beyond a reasonable tension to get 8' length; result does not stay properly seated in 7 pin plug on my motorhome.

by:

Reasonably priced and shipped fast. Although the harness techically is long enough the coils are a little stiff and that concerns me. I streached the coils a bit to relieve some of the stiffness and it seem to have improved it some. However the connectors on both the RV and the toad have spring loaded catches on the plug so I don't expect that to be a problem.

The only improvement I could suggest is to include a wiring diagram and a pin lable guide with the 6 pin connector which was included with the cable. Only two of the terminals are clearly labled (LT & Gnd) while another is labled TM, which I later found out was for the running lights. The other terminals are not even labled on the plug. With a little searching on the internet a diagram is available, however, I believe a standard wiring diagram should have been included which shows a clear picture of the connections. A small thing that would cost very little in the packaging and would be a great improvement. The reson for the 3 star rating. A more flexible cable and a diagram would have received 5 stars.

by:

Nicely packaged, it was easy to install. It being a yellow cord it should be easy to find, but the ends light with the lights of the rv on, so if I have to connect or disconnect in the dark it will help. Thank you e-trailer for the quick response and great customer service.

Still working strong, great product

by:

I am very pleased with the service I received. My order was filled and shipped
promptly. I received my package in the mail today, actually sooner than expected.
Although it will be a few days before I get around to installing the tail light
wiring kit and Nite-Glow tow bar extension cord, I feel certain I will enjoy
using them.

by:

This item was advertised at a lower cost than others from this vendor, and took a very long time to obtain. Heavy duty, maintains coil very well after a year of use, and I like that the ends are illuminated when the tow vehicle lights are on.

by:

Hardware is good. I have matted and de-matted the connectors about 20 times over a travel season with no wear issues. I would repurchase if needed. I also want to thank e-trailer for pointing me the right direction with this purchase.

by:

Everything works fine and installation was a snap. Only minor problem is that the electrical cord for connecting tow vehicle to RV is too much coiled strength causing it to come loose during transit.

by:

Works great. Had length we needed for ready brake system.

Our connection cable continues to work perfectly. The cable was difficult to find and the one I had ordered elsewhere did not work you overnighted us the correct one and saved our vacation

by:

Connected extension cord to Jeep and RV to test Hopkins wiring kit HM56200, tail, brake & turn signals all worked as expect.

by:

Nice wiring kit. Easy installation.

1 year out, still working great.

by:

The cord it's self is a little short, it will reach OK but is a little tight if you're using a dropped/raised hitch adapter. The plastic plug is a little cheap too. Guess you get what you paid for. Better off spending a couple $$$'s more for a name brand set.

by:

Extremely high quality Extension cord. I will be installing the 6-way round plug on Friday, April 14th, the videos that etrailer has are phenomenal!!!!

by:

Easy install works like it should. E trailer is the best !

by:

Nice to have the coiled up wire bundle. Keeps things neat and out of the way of the tow bar mechanism. Installation of the plug receptacle was no problem for one that is a bit handy.

by:

Great experience, quick shipping, excellent video and instructional references to go along with the products. I did the installation of the product myself and was quite pleased with the product, quality seems excellent and installation straight forward. This was a perfect match for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler - 2014 Fleetwood Bounder motorhome combination.

by:

The perfect item I was looking for. The connectors on both sides have led that light when each end is properly connected. Wonderful!

by:

Great customer service at great prices for the highest quality parts! Can't ask for more than that. All of my current and future towing needs will be through eTrailer. Thanks for the great service!

by:

E- Trailer has a very informative site and the product ordered was high quality as described and delivered in the time frame as promised.

Thank You

  • Difference Between Coiled 7-way to 6-way Adapters HM47054 and HM47053
The difference is the part # HM47054 comes with a 6-way socket and bracket whereas the # HM47053 does not come with those two things and is only the 7-way to 6-way. These are both really solid options that would work well for you.

  • Difference Between Hopkins Connector Adapter # HM47053 and # HM47054
Both the Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47053 and the Hopkins # HM47054 referenced in your question feature the same 8 foot long, coiled adapter cord that will connect the 7-Way on your RV to the 6-Way round connector on the tow vehicle. The only difference between the two parts is that # HM47054 also includes a 6-Way socket with mounting bracket that you can mount to the vehicle. • 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Trailer Connector Adapter that Does Not Light Up
We do have similar 7-Way to 6-Way connectors that do not glow. You could use # HM47083 if you need 12 volt power on the center pin (on the 6-Way end). Or you could use # HM47085 if you need the center pin to pin for electric brake output. These items are much shorter than the Hopkins glowing adapter.

  • Availability of Hopkins 7-way to 6-Way Flat Towing Umbilical Harnesses
Hopkins has a few different 7-way to 6-pin options. For an 8 foot coiled cord that includes the 6-pin connector for the front of the towed vehicle, use part # HM47054. For a straight wire option, also including the 6-pin connector, use part # HM47057 and for the 8 foot coiled extension only, not including the connector for the towed vehicle, use part # HM47053

I checked the owner's manual for the 2016 Jeep Patriot and there is not all that much information on flat towing apart from an explanation of the models that can be flat towed. Since the vehicle has a feature that drains the battery while being flat towed I recommend supplying a trickle charge to the battery from the motor home.
