Dimension between hitch pin holes is 10.5 inches measured in red

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

This works perfect when I hook up my 2022 GMC Canyon (Stock height) to my motorhome to maintain level tow bars.

by:

Christy is a fabulous sales person. She took care of me like a pro. Everything fit perfectly or both holes lined up. I’ve towed a couple thousand miles with it. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you for the service. You’ll always be my go to for trailer parts and towing parts. Have a great holiday. Happy Thanksgiving and God bless.

by:

Perfect adapter to tow my trailhawk. I use it to raise the tow bar so trailhawk to the tow bar are level during towing. I do recommend this adapter.

by:

The hitch adapter arrived on time. A bit pricey, but very high quality. Amy was very helpful in selecting right product.

by:

Exactly what I was looking for and it arrived in 2 days! Highly recommend E-trailer!

This hitch has been working great for the intended purpose.

by:

Etrailer is always very responsive and very knowledgeable with their products and customer interaction. I would highly recommend them as a first point of contact for product and product recommendations.

by:

Very durable, towed our Bronco about 8,000 miles with no issue. Welds and gusset still look brand new.

by:

The only thing I have changed is to have an additional receiver welded on top to carry a bike rack. The drop was perfect to tow my 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT

by:

Worked great to level out the connection between our coach with the Blue Ox and the 1983 Jeep CJ7!

Jeff

Still works great although we bought a newer jeep and don’t have to use the product with it. We have the flexibility of being able to tow either jeep by having this adapter.

by:

Exactly what I needed, had to drop down 8 inches to make tow bar level, very well constructed

David

Working out as expected, have had no problems at all

by:

Worked perfectly!

by:

Always easy and fast to get parts you need as well as prices

by:

Ordered and received quickly as always.

by:

The product solved my problem by lowering the attach height on my motorhome making it level with that on the vehicle being towed.

I feel that the design limit for the torque this attachment imparts on the motorhome trailer hitch exceeds the design limit of the motorhome hitch. A few hard stops seem to have bent the motorhome hitch a little. I am towing a 4k lb vehicle with a 2015 Winnebago Vista.

Thanks for the feedback. It is always that the lowest rated component of the towing system be the determining factor for any towing situation. I looked on-line and it looks like your 2015 Winnebago Vista could have been equipped with a hitch rated for up to 5K from the factory. Please confirm that the hitch is rated appropriately for the vehicle you are towing. Additionally a supplemental braking system like the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400 is recommended. If you do have a braking system it may need some adjustments for more effective braking of your toad. I have also included a link to one of our help articles that explains all the individual components of a flat towing system for your reference.

by:

Although I just needed to shim it up to keep the wiggle down, its doing the trick with the bike rack. Still need to try it out with the camper when I head back out to work.

by:

Turned it over and it raises my towbar on the motorhome so I may safely flat tow our Jeep

by:

Had very good service nice polite and very helpful

by:

Just received the Roadmaster 8" High-Low Hitch Adapter today and the quality looks awesome and etrailer was awesome to deal with super fast shipping and good communications, and I'm sure this is going to work just fine when I get ready to use it thanks etrailer.

Thanks for taking the time to follow up with us, it's good to know the adapter is holding up.

by:

Just used it this past weekend for first time. It worked great! No problems whatsoever. Drove three hours to the destination and three hours back. Definitely will continue to use. I needed a hitch that was leveled with my tow bars and this was perfect. I would highly recommend etrailer for their excellent products.

Still working great.

by:

I use a 4" drop down for my mobility scooter carrier. My SUV hitch was too high to allow me to run the scooter up onto the carrier. The drop down made the carrier hight perfect. The drop down is strong and very stable. Noe I can travel and be moble at my destination.

Clark B.

The down is still meeting my needs and is serving very well.

by:

Just received the order - everything was perfect! Fast shipping and appears to be a great product. Fits perfectly and solves my towing height issue. Being used with Blue Ox products (much less expensive option, and rated for more weight).

Excellent value and customer service (called prior to my order, ordered via web, and received follow up).

Will definitely use them again should the need arise!

One year later and still very happy with my purchase as well as the service I had received. Great stuff!

by:

etrailer was great to work with

by:

Product was just as advertised and made my Class "C" RV hitch and 4WD towing setup exactly level. Hi/Low Extension was top quality. Very satisfied with the product and prompt delivery. I am a multiple time purchaser through "etrailer" and every experience has been top notch. Seller is highly recommended!! Do note that Hi/Low Extension extended overall tow setup an additional 10" and therefore also required the addition of safety cable extensions and a new longer wiring harness.

by:

Just what I needed - Bought a gently used Blue-Ox tow-bar to pull a recently acquired 1998 Honda Honda CRV with my 2005 Jayco Grayhawk. After installing the CRV baseplate (purchased from etrailer, another great buy, installed myself in about 45 minutes) the vertical alignment of the base plate connections and the RV's receiver hitch was 9-inches off. I found this hitch adapter, it arrived within a few days of ordering even when I ordered it less than a week before Christmas. A test tow around the neighborhood proved all worked and aligned great. etrailer team followed up, provided info on shipping status, all-in-all an excellent transaction.

by:

Needed in a hurry, but did not opt for higher priced shipping. Item was shipped same day, and arrived fast. Very satisfied. I had previously ordered a bike carrier and was pleased to return. Best prices and fasted shipping. Will continue to use for my RV needs.

Since you might be over 5k a better option would be the Roadmaster # RM-048-8 which is rated for 10,000 lbs, has the 8 inch rise/drop and also has a similar distance from the pin hole to back of receiver tube of 7-1/4 inches.

I am happy to help you with the parts needed to flat tow (or dinghy tow) your 2013 Chevy Spark with manual transmission. Starting with a base plate, I recommend a kit that features removable arms which will let the Spark keep more of its normal appearance when you're not towing it. Roadmaster kit # 523174-1 has such twist-lock arms that you can see in the linked photo; once you remove them the car's appearance is back to normal. I have an alternate solution for you. It sounds like you have the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening # RM-195225 which lowers your hitch receiver 2" and reduces your flat towing capacity to 10,000 lbs. and tongue weight by 33%. Unfortunately, you can not use another adapter like the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10 (10-1/4" Rise/Drop) in that spare tire carrier hitch receiver. Between the 8 inch rise of the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8 and 10 inch rise of the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10, I recommend going with the adapter that gives you the 10 inches of rise. You are right that this is the slightly longer adapter, but only about an inch and a half longer, and that is not going to cause any added clearance problems. Since your issue is you need to clear the ground just on steeper hills, you are much better off going with what will give...

The dual receiver we have with the most rise or drop is # RM-077-4 that you have referenced. One of the receivers has a 4 inch drop. That is not quite enough if you need 8 inches. But there are other options. First, you do need an 8 inch drop so that is a given, use # RM-048-8. This adapter has a 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity and 400 pound tongue weight capacity.
