Dimensions

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Very, very good quality product. It works perfectly for towing my Jeep Wrangler with a good room of towing capacity for extra safety. I also purchased the Towmaster locks to go with this and they are of super good quality too. Just push on the locks and you're good to go.

Have been using this adapter for a year now and the quality of the product still astounds me! Well built, sturdy and still looks great!

by:

Had to put on Motorhome because Jeep was 4" higher and roadmaster recommends tow bar to be within 3" high or low. Had to extend safety cables

by:

Perfect height Towbar level

by:

Just received, but looks like it will be perfect for dropping my RV hitch height 2" to match up with the baseplate on my Jeep Wrangler. Ordered on Sunday and here by mid-day Wed with regular shipping. Hard to beat that! 4th time I've ordered from Etrailer and very happy with the fast service, great pricing, and excellent descriptions that they provide online.

Great! Does just what it needs to do.

The locking pins keyed alike while be convenient! The 2" drop/rise adapter according to the label stuck to it says it is only rated for 100lb tongue wt, but your item description says 200lb tongue wt??.

Roadmaster has recently completed further testing that has found that the TW capacity of the RM-072-2 is 200 lbs. Going forward, they will be stickered with the new capacity, but the older examples are safe to use with up to 200 lbs of tongue weight.

by:

Excellent!! Just what I needed. An extension to lower my Thule bike rack to allow my back jeep door to swing open.
Locks to jeep, secure couldn’t ask for a better solution.

by:

Placed order with Road Master for this Road Master High-Low Drop and they notified me it would be two to four weeks. Canceled order with Road Master and ordered from etrailer. Ordered on Monday and received on Thursday. The two inch rise and ten inch extension was exactly what I needed to pull my CRV behind my B-Plus RV. Needed to raise tow bar two inches to have the three inches minimum height difference and the ten inch extension was needed to clear bicycle rack. Actually called etrailer B4 ordering and talked with a very nice and courteous lady. Thanks etrailer, you made my day.

by:

This works perfectly for lowering the hitch height and increasing distance so that my buke rack can fold down and out of the way of my jeep's tailgate.

by:

Old 4" drop hitch was too much for the right fit with our new car. Not everyone carries the 2" drop hitch. We're close to etrailer's supply center and the order was delivered the day after I placed it. Great service and the fit with the towbar was just right!

by:

I am using this to level out my Jayco Jay Feather travel trailer. It did not have enough clearance in back for me to back into my driveway. It does now.
Thanks

by:

disappointed that I paid this much for a hunk of metal and it didn't include a hitch pin.

We do have hitch pins available. I recommend hitch pin part # C21510 or for added security lock part # e98881.

by:

5 stars all the way. Installation instructions were very good. Everything worked out perfectly and I am very happy with the entire unit. I also appreciate that Steve at etrailer was always available to answer any questions I had.

by:

The offset is a bit longer than I expected. But after I installed it I was able to still use my safety cables and wire harness. The offset I believe will help a lot with handling while pulling my Jeep behind the motor home.

by:

This is my second order, and both times the delivery time was great. It was delivered at my door step and I didnt have to go driving around town looking for what I needed. Pricing has been excellent on the Items also. I have already setup the receiver and it was exactly what I needed.

Found the product easily on the etrailer web site. Price was better than most other sources. I had to speak with customer support three times and each time they were outstanding....polite, helpful, and efficient. Product was shipped quickly and arrived sooner than expected.

Overall, pleased with quality of the hitch and exceptional service.

Unit was ordered along with a Falcon All-Terrain tow bar. Both arrived 3 days before expected. Excellent quality at a reasonable price. Shipping service was great.

by:

The RoadMaster High-Low Drop-2" was of high quality material and finish. I was in a bind and etrailer came through with quick delivery.

Happy Camper ;)

by:

This is just what I need to flat tow our Jeep. Very good product.

by:

As always, e-trailer has provided me another quality product with fast shipping. After doing numerous searching, etrailer had the best product price along with the most reasonable shipping costs.

by:

The quality and durability of this drop receiver is top notch. I am using it for my motorhome to auto to connect for towing the auto.

by:

Your service/sales techs are very good! How refreshing!

The RM High-Low fits my Motor Home perfectly and your delivery time is excellent. Plus your prices were the best. One cannot beat a combination like that.

Thank You!

by:

I just received the drop receiver, slipped it into the coach receiver, nice fit, & quality appearance. Won't be actually using it for a few weeks, as were getting things rigged for use. Thanks for a great unit.

by:

My order was delivered within a week. I am very pleased with the 2 inch drop receiver.

The Demco Excali-Bar III Non-Binding Tow Bar - Victory Series - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,500 lbs # DM9511013 you referenced is an excellent tow bar and it has an integrated height adjustment in the shank. This will allow for 1-1/2 inches of rise or 1-1/2 inches of drop depending on the orientation of the shank. Most tow bars simply have a straight shank. When flat towing, you are correct that your tow bar needs to be within 3 inches of level for safe transport. Most tow bars will require...

  • Will Hitch Extender # HE18 Allow Camper to be Towed with Tailgate Down
The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, part # RM-072-2, is intended for leveling a tow-bar when flat towing a vehicle behind a motor home. It cannot be used to tow a camper. You might be able to use part # HE18, which is a hitch extender. This item adds 18 inches to the length of the receiver but also cuts in half its tongue weight capacity. You will need to make sure that the combined weight load of what you intend to place in your vehicle plus the weight of your towed camper does not...

  • What do I Need to flat Tow a 2011 to 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Behind a Motorhome
To flat tow a 2011 to 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee there are 5 major components needed: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. The base plates are what attach to the front of the Jeep and provide a safe and proper attachment point for the tow bar. For the 2011 to 2013 Grand Cherokee I recommend Roadmaster EZ5 base plates # RM-521440-5. These base plates feature removable arms that, when removed, makes the base plates almost invisible. Keep in mind this measurement is assuming your Canyon is equipped with the stock 265/60R18 size tires. Although you technically can use the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-072-2 to mount an accessory like a motorcycle carrier, the use of ANY adapter will reduce the tongue weight of the hitch on your vehicle by 50 percent. So if your hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs the use of an adapter such as this would lower the capacity to 250 lbs and your bike and hauler would be too heavy. So essentially, unless you have a hitch with a tongue weight capacity of 800 lbs you would not...
