Can the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter Part # RM-048-4 be Used with a Motorcycle Carrier
Question:
I have a Tacoma which is lifted and has a 640lb tongue lb rating. I need a 4inch hitch adapter to carry a motorcycle that weighs 300lbs. The carrier weights 35lbs, I realize an adapter cuts the tongue rating by 50. What would you recommend for an adapter for carrying and not flat towing? Thanks!

The best option we have for you is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter part # RM-048-4 which is designed for flat-towing but can be used for hitch-mounted accessories like your motorcycle carrier. However, as you mentioned you will sacrifice some of the tongue weight capacity when using this or any adapter for that matter.
The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter has a weight capacity of 400 lbs but it also reduces the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50%. If the tongue weight capacity of your Toyota Tacoma is indeed 640 lbs then your new limit is 320 lbs as the the lower of the two will be you limiting factor.
If you can reduce the weight of the motorcycle and carrier to 320 lbs then you can use the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter but if not I would not have any other options for you.
