High-Low Adapter to Tow a Mini Cooper Behind a Motor Home

Question:

Hi we currently tow a jeep behind a 1999 classs a DP and use a 2 inch to get level. Looks like about 16 to the center of the jeep tow eyes. The Mini shows 10.5 inches to the tow eyes so guess a 6 inch would put us in the window. But I am concerened a 6 inch might drag is this something to be worried about Thanks

Most tow bars have a certain range in which they can work. That range is usually 3 inches off from level. A 6 inch drop would get you as close to level as you are going to get which is great. There is a chance that because the base plate connections on the Mini are so low that you could end up making contact with the ground and the adapter on uneven terrain or steep grades but for the most part in everyday towing situations it would not be a problem.

What you could do is use an adapter with a 4 inch drop, # RM-070 or # RM-048-4. Then you would have a little more ground clearance at the adapter and would be within 1-1/2 inches of level for the tow bar.
