The Extra Long Ball Mount proved useful immediately upon receipt. Delivery was prompt, and the updates from etrailer.com helped plan transport of several bicycles, simultaneously with a camper trailer. The extended length facilitated use with a Swagman bicycle rack, also purchased via etrailer.com. The product arrived in excellent condition, with correct capacity rating, and works perfectly, and in conjunction with the bicycle rack. I recommend purchases from etrailer.

Everything is still performing well and in good condition. Thanks for checking.

Product is exactly as described on the etrailer.com website and measurements
and dimensions fit perfect. Easy phone order process and prompt delivery,
standard shipping arrived 3 business days after the order was placed. The
extra long version of the ball mount makes it perfect for me to put on the
bike rack while towing my horses.

by:

This slightly longer than average bar was perfect for my application. The drop length was perfect also for the application. As usual, eTrailer's site and retail experience was first rate. Lots of info and specs (and videos) available makes it easier to get that piece of mind knowing that what you needed was what you ordered.

I no longer have the trailer or need for this draw bar. Regardless, it worked perfectly and it is stored safely away for future needs as they arise.

by:

I ordered the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4" Rise, 6" Drop - 14-1/4" Long - 6,000 lbs, and the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 2,000 lbs.

Purpose was to raise the back of our 2005 Mercury hitch to better pull our home built kayak trailer. I was looking to get a better leveling position of the trailer. This 4" rise Hitch was a long shank did the trick ! VERY IMPRESSED with sales that helped me purchase the correct product. I purchase all my tires and trailer supplies from etrailer.com .......best quality, price, and support. Thank you.

by:

Needed to extend my hitch a little farther from the vehicle and this one seems to fit the bill. I tow an AT Chaser offroad trailer behind an FJ Cruiser and need a hitch bar that can take some abuse, and I'm hoping this one stands up.

by:

Perfect drop for my 2022 Ford Bronco.

by:

Fit and finish is above what I expected. If you need a class 1 or a class 2 I recommend spending a little more money and going with a class 3. You can get any size ball you need and the design is much cleaner especially if you need a high rise or low rise unit . the heavier gauge steel unit needs less intrusive back braces giving more clearance and a cleaner look.

by:

How can a company put a twenty pound steel trailer hitch in a single wall cardboard box and expect it to get delivered without damage? This has happened with multiple orders that had heavy merchandise that broke the box and was damaged or completely missing from the broken box upon delivery. etrailer has great service and products but their shipping is absolutely awful.

by:

This hitch was just what I needed to pull a trailer with my Polaris Ranger 570efi

by:

Zero complaints. Ordered and received the ball mount without any problems. The mount does what I bought it to do. I will use etrailer again if I need one of their products and would strongly recommend them.

by:

I bought this because I needed the rise, not the drop. But, I only bought it after watching the instructional video on etrailer.com on how to measure for how much of a rise you need. When I pulled this out of the box, I thought "this is way too high" and that the video missed the mark. But imagine my surprise when I put it on my van after putting the ball on -- when I put the trailer on the ball, the trailer was dead level! Kudos to etrailer for putting up that video!

I've ordered from etrailer a few times and the service is just insanely good! Incredibly fast shipping, prices better than any other place online or in my area, expert advice when you need it and great information.

This has worn well, no chips in the paint unlike other ball mounts I have.

by:

I was looking for a ball mount with a long shank so that I could mount a set of mud flaps on it. The problem I had, is that I already had one of the longest ball mounts I could find, but that did not give me the clearance I needed to mount the mud flaps. etrailer is the only place I could find this extra long ball mount. This solved my problem without having to resort to costly customization. The Customer Service is excellent as well, both before and after the sale.

I am very satisfied with my purchases. They continue to perform as needed.

by:

Ordered the same Drawbar with the 4 inch drop last year and decided I needed a 6 inch drop. This extra long drawbar is great and allows me to back up with the tailgate down for a much better view.

A year later and still working great!

by:

Fits me receiver nicely

by:

This is almost exactly what I needed. I needed an extension to give me more clearance between the hitch ball and my Town & Country tailgate. The added length gives me just barely enough clearance as long as my vehicle and camper are on level ground. Since I couldn't afford to lose the capacity by adding an extension, I had no real option other than to buy this longer hitch.
Since it's already longer than most standard hitches, there's no reason that it couldn't be 1" or 2" inches longer. There would be little or no capacity loss by doing that.
Other than the above, it's excellent quality, doesn't rattle in the hitch receiver and does what it's supposed to do. I like etrailer, their quality, service and support. Every time I have a question, someone answers the phone and knows their products well. I could have bought this anywhere but not everyplace has this type of service.
Thanks.

by:

I bought this one because it is longer, and I have mud flaps that attach onto the hitch. It works very well for that.

Still good, no issues

by:

Nice ball mount for my application. I like how it is longer to give more clearance between the trailer and my HIghlander. Convenient for tighter turns. Good quality at an affordable price.

by:

I tried this receiver in conjunction with a trailer I am volunteering to move once a month. This ended up being a just a little too much of a drop. I can't knock the product for that. I did work well otherwise.

I liked the elongated longer receiver bar extra distance between the receiver locking pin and the drop bar to give greater clearance when towing.

by:

I have a 1978 Chevy K10 4x4 with a 4" lift and it has a hidden receiver hitch behind the License Plate. I thought I was going to have to have a ball mount made as I needed an extra long 8" shank to clear the rear bumper and 7500lb GVW rated. etrailer.com had just what I needed and George J. shipped it the next day (Saturday) and upgraded my shipping from 5-7 days to 3-5 days delivery with no extra charge! He also followed up to make sure I received it! I received it in 4 days and I am very impressed with the quality and thickness of the materials used to make it. It is heavy duty and pulls my fully loaded tandem axle flatbed with no problem. I highly recommend their products to anyone! Thanks George!!

by:

Just what I needed 4 in rise. Well ma de.

by:

Trailer hitch arrived in excellent shape and well protected. The hitch was exactly what I ordered and I am well pleased.

Great - good product

by:

This long-shaft ball mount enabled me to fully insert and pin the shaft and get the rise I needed for towing level a Yakima Trailer by a 2015 Honda Odyssey. The typical, shorter shaft was not long enough for complete insertion and pinning of the shaft because the welded on arm-support piece hit the bumper.

by:

I needed a hitch with a sizeable drop and an extra long shaft, so I knew that etrailer would be my best option. When I ordered my new hitch on a Saturday, the system said that it would be processed and shipped within 48 hours. Then I got a an email from Scott at etrailer who said he took care of the shipping on Saturday! It arrived on Wednesday exactly as ordered. It is a substantial, well constructed hitch for a very reasonable price. I'm a repeat etrailer customer, and will order again.

by:

Item is exactly as described- well built and nicely finished. What more is there to say about the ball mount? It fits and works exactly as it should. Price was good too.

Shipped fast, too. Very pleased with transaction.

I got the extended bar to clear a spare tire. With the extended bar, just make sure your trailer safety chains and plug are long enough to reach.

by:

It fits tight with no rattle and extends about 4" passed what I was using. Obviously, you'll need to buy a separate ball. My only issue was the box it came in. Etrailer needs to pack heavy items with a more padding. The hitch ripped through one side of the box but it wasn't damaged. Delivery was very fast.

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2007 Honda CR-V Needing a 3 inch Rise to Tow Level
You are on the right track. The goal will be for you trailer to sit as level as possible when towing. Since the rear of your tow vehicle will sag slightly when the trailer is attached to it the best option is to go with a rise slightly higher than what you need. A 4 inch rise ball mount like the part # D-28 would be your best option. I attached a review video and an FAQ article on picking out the correct rise/drop ball mount for you to check out as well.

To determine rise or drop ball mount you'd need, you'll need to make a simple calculation. Then measure the distance from the BOTTOM of the coupler to the ground when the trailer is level. If the hitch is taller than the coupler, you'll need a ball mount with a drop. If the trailer coupler is taller, you'll need a ball mount with a rise. If...

On Curt ball mount # D-28, it measures 14-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. Given that the spare tire on a 2009 Toyota RAV4 is sort of recessed into the rear door and bumper, this is likely going to enough distance. On trailer hitches we have installed on the same generation RAV4 the hitch pin hole to spare tire measurement was about 6-1/2 inches so the ball mount is more than long enough to give you the clearance you need.
