Ball Mount With Extra Long Shank Needed For 2014 Subaru Forester
Question:
I need 4.5-5.5inch rise, 2inch class III, preferably with a hollow stinger so I can use a Softride anti-rattle . The tough part is that I have a 2014 Subaru Forester with Curt hitch, where the center of the pin is fully 7inch forward of the rear of the bumper. I am looking for something like the Hidden Hitch 80240, but I fear that the angle support piece would not clear my bumper. I could always order and see, but if you can advice on a choice I would appreciate this. I will include a picture of a short 2inch stinger installed that itself cant be use flipped because it sits too close to the bumper. sorry for poor focus

I did some research for your 2014 Subaru Forester and the clearance you need to clear your rear bumper.
I recommend the Curt Ball Mount, part # D-28. This ball mount has an extra long hollow shank and features a 4 inch rise or a 6 inch drop. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point of rise is 8-1/4 inches so that should give you sufficient clearance for your vehicle. I have attached a photo that shows the dimensions of the # D-28 ball mount.
Per Curt warranty requirements, all non-trailer loads, like bike racks, or cargo carriers must be supported by stabilizing straps, like part # 18050.
