I use this hitch when I pull my horse trailer to make the stop/start transitions as smooth as possible for the horses in the back. It works great. I also love that its a category IV hitch. Really heavy duty. My truck sits pretty high, and the amount of drop - 8" is perfect. I never worry about hitch failure travelling with my horses - they're a heavy load, and any failure would be a disaster.

I have a 2012 GMC Sierra HD with a 12" suspension lift. I recently purchased a ball mount hitch with 8" inch drop for our 36' RV trailer and it worked great. It took 3 days for the hitch to get to me. Great service from e-trailer.
After having trouble finding the right drop height and weight rating receiver for my new Ford Expedition Max, I called etrailer and Ashley was awesome in helping me as I needed something quickly. I've just travelled 1200 miles interstate with the "Convert-A-Ball" unit and I'm thrilled with it. The mount cushions the movement and had zero jolts or tugging with the trailer. I have a 2011 Dodge diesel 3500. I tow a large horse trailer and haul heavy loads of hay on a flat bed trailer...I need a hitch with large towing capacity and strong tongue weight...I looked locally and was not able to find one with an 8 inch drop. My truck is 4 x 4 and has air bags in the rear...I needed an 8 inch drop to keep my trailer level... The hitch I got from Etrailer is just what I was looking for and gives me assurance that I will not be over loading my hitch..

I wanted my truck and cargo trailer to ride level. This drop down hitch worked perfect. The cushioned trailer hitch receiver was an added benefit. It took 100% of the annoying trailer bumping and tugging that you feel when pulling a trailer. I have a 2012 tahoe and pull a 1000 pound trailer frequently, after getting this hitch I sometimes forget im pulling a trailer.
Bought a new 4X4 pickup and old ball mount was too high. This cushioned ball mount was just what I needed. I measured the drop per e-trailers guide and it came out perfect. The new ball had a 1" shank that fits tightly in the ball mount and the new pin allows any alignment of the clip which is real handy. The pin was about 1" longer than it needed to be but makes it easy to slide my breakaway cable on it. I tow two different trailers, 1500 & 2700 pounds, so I have lots of margin with this mount and ball.

I was searching for months to find something with this big of drop and the right weight ratio and was not been able to find it until i found it on this website and i COULDNT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER! A year has passed and the hitch is still performing as new. Buy it and solve your problem once and for all.
I needed a 10,000 lb. rated hitch with an 8" drop to tow my car trailer and this hitch fit the bill. I LOVE the cushioned mount system! Another winner from etrailer.com.
I have been looking for an 8 inch drop Class IV draw bar for my motor home to get my car trailer to pull level during a 1500 mile trip to Oshkosh, WI. None could be found with the weight rating required. Andrea C. at etrailer.com was very helpful, ordered exactly what I needed and the parts were delivered to a campground where I was staying safe and complete. This ball mount is a beast. It may be a little overkill for my little trailer, but better safe than sorry. Hooking a small camper to a Nissan Pathfinder required an 8" drop and this fit the bill perfectly.
Extremely sturdy unit and the shipping was fast. Ordered it Friday and received it the following Tuesday. Not impressive until you add the fact that I'm In Calgary AB and it came from MO. That's fast.
I've ordered many things from etrailer and the service has always been exceptional.
This product and company is very good. Ask you would like and expect. On this particular ball mount; I couldn't attach my Anti-rattle bracket due to the triangular brace on the underside of it interferes. Using it in my 2004 F350. I'll try again to figure something out but an not willing to cut into it modify anything on this back mount which would compromise it.
Owned for 1 year, it has been reliable and no issues. Happy about the availability of various drop sizes. I’m not sure that the cushion makes a huge difference on light trailers. I have one of these for my boat and I think it makes a bigger difference than for my light snowmobile trailer.
After carefully considering all the options, I went with the cushioned ball mount. I was pleased with the excellent shipping and quality of the product - exactly as advertised. Excellent product, I cannot even feel the trailer under acceleration or braking. Before I could hear clunking and movement every now and then when hitting bumps - it's all gone. It definitely worth the extra coin. LOVE IT!

This has been truly amazing and I wouldn’t use anything else towing these days. I’ve recommended the mount to a lot of people who tow who have never heard of it or seen it before. Great job!
