Perfect for our 2019 Shadow Stablemate Trailer and 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Didn't work out for it's intended purpose. Wanted it to use on my mini van to pyll Scamp travel trailer. But I couldn' open my tailgate without unhitching the trailer

You mentioned that the ball mount was not long enough for your application. How much distance would you need to be able to open the tailgate.

I recently received my C45240 dual length ball mount and was very pleased
with the way it looks. This mount is heavy duty for sure and the welds look perfect.
I needed the extra length because my tailgate hit the trailer jack when I let it down.now with this mount problem solved.
The quality and price of this product is great.
Thanks for making a product that is well worth the price.

by:

This ball mount was just what I needed. I've got a 2015 Escape but the little trailer I am going to pull was modified and raised 4" for off-road use. Well, my hitch was about 4" too low!! So, getting this ball mount receiver was just what I needed to get the added height on the hitch ball! Now, I'm ready to go!

by:

This was my second purchase-so far, so good. Hitch and brake controller installs from first purchase went well and have worked well. Just received ball mount and ladder mount bike rack from second purchase-everything looks good so far. Pricing was very reasonable. They provide good information to make an educated purchase.

by:

Very pleased with my purchase. Ball mount and 2" ball are heavy and appear to be well made. Just purchased a new pickup truck and the rear end is a few inches higher than my old truck. The 6" drop on this ball mount will keep my trailer riding level. Thanks guys.

Excellent Curt product!! MADE IN AMERICA Fits great, just what I needed for my Suburban. Always a pleasure to do business with you people.

Still in use. Recently towed a classic car on a 2k mile trip with no problems.

I need this for the front hitch on my truck. I needed the high rise since the hitch sits so low to the ground. I use the front hitch to launch my boat and jet ski on a small ramp that is hard to navigate.

by:

Needed this extended hitch with the drop to work with my "Rock Tamers". As this truck is new and I was leaving town in a week, I also needed fast delivery. Four days later the hitch arrived as promised and I'm on my way. Perfect product for my needs and great service/delivery!

by:

Great value. Ordered this with a trailer hitch.

by:

Good products at great prices, shipped very fast. Had a great selection of drops to hitches, with all choices of capacity.

by:

Works perfectly. Has the exact rise I needed to keep the trailer level.

by:

Works like a charm. I needed the extra length when I got a new truck so that the tail gate did not hit he post on the front of the trailer.

by:

Very well made draw bar. Great price. Fast service. Excellent customer service and status updates on shipping.

by:

by:

by:

Exactly as ordered, came in 3 days. Very heavy duty. Definitely will order from etrailer again.

by:

Great product. Solid, quality, no rust !!!

by:

Durable and easy install!

by:

Haven't used yet. So far, this is exactly what I need. Going to use it in the rise position.

by:

Got exactly what I ordered and it arrived quickly and well packaged. Made great. Heavy duty construction and the ability to adjust length is helpful.

  • Distance from Second Pin Hole to Platform Bracket of Ball Mount C45240
The second pin hole of the Curt ball mount part # C45240 that you referenced is 3 inches behind the first one. That means the second pin hole is 6-1/4 inches from the weld bracket.

  • Shock Absorbing Ball Mount/Trailer Ball Recommendation for Pop Up Camper
Curt offers a solution that would provide additional shock absorption to help isolate the tow vehicle from the shock the trailer experiences on bumpy roads, while still allowing you to use your existing # C45250 ball mount. The Curt # C40047 RockerBall is a 2 inch trailer ball with a 1 inch diameter shank that would be fully compatible with your existing ball mount. The ball has a 7500 lb capacity, so it'll work great with your pop up camper.

  • What all is Needed for a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan SE to Tow a Coleman Pop-Up Camper?
I can definitely get you some recommendations for what will be needed to tow a camper with your 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I did include all the needed parts to do this, but please keep in mind that the ball mount and ball are examples and the correct ones will depend on the camper you end up choosing. With that out of the way, let's get started. The etrailer.com Custom Class III Hitch # e98854 will bolt directly to your vehicle without the need to drill, making the install quick and straight...

  • Picking Out Ball Mount and 2 inch Hitch Ball for Trailer that Needs 5-1/4 inch Drop
When picking out the correct rise/drop ball mount for a towing setup you sometimes can't get exactly the amount you need. The good news is that if you get as close as you can (in your case within 1/2 inch) you will be fine. So using the hitch ball # 40038 that you referenced with the ball mount # C45240 would be a great choice and would work well for you.

  • Ball Mount With 4-1/2 Inch Rise for 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
For a ball mount with exactly a 4-1/2" rise you will need the Curt Dual Length Ball Mount # C45240. This ball mount has two hitch pin holes so you can use it with different lengths, either 9-1/4" or 12-1/4". It fits a 2" trailer hitch and has a 6,000 lb towing capacity and 600 lb tongue weight capacity when used in the rise position. For a hitch ball you can use 2" Hitch Ball # 63845 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 63847, depending on the size of the ball your trailer's coupler accepts. You...

  • Recommended Fixed Ball Mount With 4 to 4-3/4 Inch Rise With At Least 7500 lb Capacity
For your fixed ball mount with at 4 to 4-3/4 inch rise, I recommend the Curt Dual Length Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4-1/2" Rise, 5-3/4" Drop - 7,500 lbs # C45240. This ball mount will also need a hitch ball like # 63845 for a 2 inch option or # 63847 for a 2-5/16 inch option. I've linked a page to your option for 7500 lbs with that 4 inch or more rise.

  • Longer Ball Mount Solution to Allow More Clearance Between Tailgate and Trailer Jack
Your best solution will be to go with a longer ball mount so that you get the clearance you want between the tailgate and the trailer jack. Hitch extensions like you mentioned can work but they also cut the hitch capacity in half since due to added movement and leverage so I don't recommend them as an ideal solution. For example, we have the Brophy ball mount part # BM20 which 13-1/4 inches long and has a 2 inch drop. For a ball mount with more drop (if needed) we have the # C45240 which...

  • Can 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan Tow a Trailer
According to the owner's manual, Dodge states that the 3.6L V6 has a towing capacity up to 3600 lbs with two people and a trailer frontal area of 40 square feet. 3 to 5 persons would lower the capacity to 3450 lbs and 3000 lbs for 6 or 7 people. They do not list a capacity for the 4 cylinder engine. If you're looking for a hitch, I can highly recommend the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75579 is it's the least visible as well as being the easiest to install. For a trailer wiring harness,...

  • Does Curt Hitch # C13396 Fit 2020 Range Rover Sport P400e HSE PHEV Hybrid
According to the folks at Curt, the # C13243 is a fit for all models of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, including the Hybrid models. From what Curt tells me, if your vehicle has a full sized spare tire it will not fit back under the vehicle once the hitch is installed. If you'll be using the hitch for towing purposes, you'll also need a # 119250KIT trailer wiring, a ball mount like # C45240 and a trailer ball. For a 1-7/8 inch ball. use # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball. The # C13396...

  • Is there a Curt Dual Length Ball Mount with a 2 Inch Drop
Getting the right drop (or rise) is important for sure. Curt does have ball mount # C45220 which is a dual length ball mount with a 2-3/8 inch drop. But they do not have one that is exactly 2 inches. The extra 3/8 of an inch is still well within acceptable limits of what is considered level so it is a great option that will work for you. You don't want to drill any holes in a ball mount because doing so will void the warranty and could actually compromise the structural integrity of the...

  • Recommended Ball Mount and Bike Rack for a 2011 Toyota 4Runner Towing a 1976 Scotty Sportsman
My best recommendation for your 4Runner and Scotty would be the 5-3/4 inch drop Curt Ball Mount # C45240 used in combination with the Swagman XCS # S64664. This bike rack is specially designed to mount to a 2 inch ball mount which then will accommodate the low drop that your Scotty Sportsman requires to be level. The Curt ball mount has a longer shank which will accommodate the space needed for the bike rack and then a second mounting hole in case you choose to tow without the bike rack. The...

  • What is the Ideal Height for a Ball When Towing a U-Haul Trailer?
The ideal height will actually have to do with how tall the coupler of the trailer is from the ground. The Draw-Tite # 76020 will sit at 13 1/2 inches from the ground to the top of the hitch when installed on a 2016 Mazda CX-9. From what I could find about the average height of the coupler on U-Haul trailer, they will sit at 18 1/2 inches. So with that being said, I suggest going with the Curt # C45240. This will have a 7,500 pound capacity and 4 1/2 inches of rise, putting you within 1/2...

For a 2-inch ball mount that provides at least 7500-lb capacity along with your required minimum rise of 4-1/4-inches I suggest the Curt forged ball mount # C45342 rated for 17K or part # C45336 rated for 10K. These and other ball mounts are shown on the linked page.

  • Longer Ball Mount Recommendation with 6 inch Drop for Towtector Mud Flap
The TowTector is very similar to our RockTamer mudflaps like the part # ERT00108. These require a longer shank ball mount so that they can attach. For that we have the Curt ball mount # D-28 which is 14-1/4 inches long and has a 6 inch drop. It only has a 6k capacity though. For a somewhat shorter ball mount that's similar we have the Curt # C45240 which does have a 7,500 lb capacity and is 12-1/4 inches long from pin hole to ball hole center.

  • What is Needed to Provide Clearance for Rock Tamers Mud Flaps to Fit on Ball Mount
You are going to need a longer ball mount so that you'd have the needed clearance for the Rock Tamers. The trick will be to go with one longer than you have now but has the same amount of rise/drop that you need as well. Like the part # D-26 for a 2 inch drop or the part # C45240 for 5-3/4 inch drop. Both of these are longer shank ball mounts and would work great.

  • 4-1/2 inch Rise Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2007 Chrysler 300C Towing Trailer
You are correct, you do need a 4-1/2 inch rise ball mount to tow your trailer level. The best option will be the Curt ball mount part # C45240. When used in the rise position it will give you exactly a 4-1/2 inch rise. This ball mount also has two hitch pins so that it can be extended out past your rear bumper if the clearance is needed. For a 2 inch ball to fit this ball mount you would want the part # 63845.

  • Determining Correct Ball Mount or Draw Bar for your Vehicle and Trailer Combination for Level Towing
To find the correct ball mount you want to measure from the inside top opening of the receiver on your truck to the ground. The difference between those two measurements will give you the proper rise or drop for your application. I've attached an article to assist. If you don't want to use a fixed mount, or if you pull different trailers, you may want to consider an adjustable...
