Superior Corrosion Resistance for Marine Use

This trailer hub assembly is constructed of corrosion-resistant, rustproof stainless steel. It's superior construction makes it the best choice for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. Stainless steel is durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can withstand saltwater applications as well. Even after extended use in saltwater, it shows little to no rust or corrosion.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Caution about wheel size.
Listing says
works with "15 Inch Wheel".
Hub flange is 6" diameter although not specified in the listing.
Some (many?) 15" wheels actually need 6.5" hub flange diameter, mine sure do. Measure the outside diameter of contact surface on back of wheel, see what diameter is needed to support it fully.
If you add a brake rotor then yes, they probably do work with 15" wheels.

Otherwise they're pretty nice hubs, although expensive.
Cheap no name bearing races installed, like most hubs.
If you're going all out with stainless hubs why not also US made Timken bearing races and bearings

by:

Good quality overall and installed without any issues. But be aware that the studs were short when installed with the Kodiak stainless brake rotors, and not as long as the glamor shots show. The ends of the studs just barely protrude from the nut when fully torqued. I didn't get to measure them, but I question if they're 2 inches like the specs say.

Changed out my old standard steel oil bath hubs for stainless steel and grease hubs. The site was very helpful in selecting the correct parts. The swap out and installation went well (except for a frozen lug nut). Since I launch the boat in saltwater most of the time, I am looking forward to hubs that aren't constantly rusting.

Thanks etrailer!

Ive had these hubs for a year now and they are working great. On multiple occasions,Ive launched in salt water without a wash facility and left the trailer for 24+ hours without any noticeable rust or corrosion. If you launch in salt, i would highly recommend these hubs and breaks.

by:

great hubs I have them on a snowmobile trailer. Stainless steel is a must on a snowmobile trailer. It's disappointing trailer manufacturers don't think, and use cheap quality parts on trailers that run in nothing but salt. I also converted the cheap rusted electric drum brakes over to SS hyd. disc brakes on this trailer, well worth it! etrailer has all the parts and was great to work with!

by:

Excellent customer service, on time delivery!!! Every sales person was wonderful and very helpful. Thank you for the great service.. 145 hubs all accounted for with no discrepancies noted.

by:

Hubs are working great! No corrosion issues and are working great.

by:

So it's been a year now, and I love it! With saltwater boating, there's already enough things to worry about breaking, so it's nice to have the peace-of-mind of knowing that I don't have to worry about my corroding brake parts. Sure, it's expensive, but after replacing a few rotors, the break-even point is quickly realized. After one year, they still work well and look great.

by:

Looks well made, it will be nice to replace my old, rusty hubs.

by:

Very nice hub that doesn’t rust. Would recommend using the SS buddy bearing cap. And spend the extra on the all rubber seal.

by:

good quality and good service

by:

Think it could have been shipped earlier, was in stock day I ordered, took over a week before it left the building. Other than the wait, product exactly what I asked and paid for.

Hubs holding up just great, stainless holding up great to the saltwater immersions. Wish I could find some 316 SST Lugs Nuts but understand they aren't stressed for these applications. But keeps me aware of TLC needed to prevent breakdowns.

by:

The product itself is great. However, for over $xxxx bolts should have been provided for the brackets, and the hubs should have been complete and loaded with grease. One of your competitors sells the package 100% complete. When checking out it tells you what else you might need. Maybe I should have read things more closely but I just figured with everything I was buying why would anyone NOT want the bolts for the bracket or a loaded hub even if it cost more. It cost me 3/4 of a day and $xxx. to run around trying to find the little pieces so I could do the job. I still haven't finished yet. I had the one weekend window to do it in.

by:

Definitely the best product on the market and great service from etrailer team

  • Hubs for Timbren Axle-Less Suspension for Use in Salt Water Environment
Timbren's axle-less trailer suspension systems like # ASR3500S05 are all made with a heavy powder coat finish but it is possible to select matching galvanized idler hubs like # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K or galvanized hub/drums like # 8-247-50UC3-EZ. Both fit the spindles on this Timbren kit and both have the 5-on-4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern. If you don't mind spending more we also have a stainless steel idler hub from Kodiak, part # KH84545S. All hubs that fit the Timbren kit appear on the linked...

To convert the hubs too of this axle to stainless you'd also need the part # KH84545S. Using the hub # KH84545S with the slip on disc kit part # K2R35S with it would be your best option for your current brake axle too since it's the only way to get everything stainless....

  • Will Kodiak Trailer Hub for 3,500-lb Axles Fit Dexter 80043A Spindle On Boat Trailer
From what I have found, the Dexter 80043A spindle on your trailer matches your standard 3,500 lb axle bearings and grease seal. It uses a # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearing with a # 58846 grease seal. This is also true for the Kodiak Trailer Hub for 3,500-lb Axles # KH84545S which means they will fit and work for your stainless steel upgrade on your boat trailer. These are compatible with rotors like the # KR10S.

Since trailer manufacturers used many different components, we have no idea what was used on a trailer.
