Parts Needed To Convert 1998 Nitro Boat Trailer from Hydraulic Drum Brakes To Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Question:

I am looking for options on updating/upgrading the brakes on my 98 Nitro boat trailer. I am not sure what disc conversion kits would work. I know the axle is 3500# UFP Axle EZ Loader 44649 /68149 Boat 2.33 Seal as I have put new bearings in before. Thanks

For your 1998 Nitro Boat trailer I recommend using the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35S. This kit contains stainless steel rotors, calipers, mounting brackets and bolts. When paired with the Kodiak Trailer Hub # KH84545S that is also stainless steel you will not have to deal with the corrosion you are likely having to deal with. For the hub you will need the Inner Bearing # L68149, Outer Bearing # L44649 and Grease Seal # 168255TB. This grease seal has the same inner diameter of 1.68" as the Seal # 010-180-00 that you used with your previous hub and will fit the new stainless steel hub.

You will need to change out your surge actuator for one rated for disc brakes like the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout # DM62VR. The electric lockout will allow you to reverse the trailer without the brakes locking up. A 5-Way Harness # 20017 is needed for the electric lockout if your trailer does not already have a 5-way connection.
