Kodiak Rotor Diagram

Disc Brakes

More and more people are switching their trailers over to disc brakes, and with good reason. Disc brakes deliver consistent braking - even at highway speeds - unlike drum brakes, which often show a substantial drop in braking torque at higher speeds. In addition, disc brakes offer a substantially shorter stopping distance than drum brakes.

Disc brake calipers have only one moving part, rather than the many found in drum brakes. This means that there are fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damaged and fewer parts to have to repair or replace, thus reducing maintenance costs.

Over-the-Hub Rotor

Kodiak's slip-on, cast iron rotor makes it easy to convert an idler axle to a disc brake axle. Simply place the rotor over your hub. It is most often wheel bolt piloted for a loose fit and then held in place by the wheel itself. With a separate rotor and hub, you can easily repair or replace one element of your brake system without having to junk the whole thing.

Calipers

Kodiak calipers are constructed of stainless steel to prevent flexing and rust. Less flex means more braking torque, resulting in smooth, even braking every time. The corrosion-resistant stainless steel piston is 30 percent larger than standard pistons, ensuring shorter stopping distance and increased torque. In addition, the unique low-drag design of Kodiak's calipers allows the piston to retract farther than in most standard models, giving you a cooler-running brake.

Mounting Brackets

Designed for axles with 4-bolt brake flange configurations, the included mounting brackets are made of heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant dacromate-plated steel that is embossed to provide additional threading for guide bolts. The added thread strength ensures a tighter, more secure connection between the caliper and bracket. Another unique feature of Kodiak's brackets is the side-support angle, which guarantees that the load is carried by the bracket, rather than the bolts.

This is a great product and is easy to install. I have had Kodiak brakes on all of my boat trailers

by:

I HAVE THIS SET UP WITH FULL STAINLESS ON MY BOAT AXLE #1, BUT FOR AXLE #2 I FIGURED I WOULD TRY THE STAINLESS/DACROMET SET UP. NOT INSTALLED YET BUT ALL LOOKS GOOD. I ONLY HOPE I DONT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ONE OF THE CALIPERS LEAKING WHERE THE BRAKE LINE FITTING SCREWS IN LIKE THE 1ST SET OF STAINLESS CLIPERS!

by:

Installed this new Kodiak Disc Brake kit to replace a Tie Down Engineering set. The performance of these new brakes is phenomenal. I only have one season on them in and out of the salt water. I'm hoping that the Stainless Steel calipers will stand up over time.

Working great. Fits my Venture tandem axel trailer.

by:

Awesome product, very happy with the quality. As with the other package I received, could have been boxed a little better. one of the caliper brackets was starting to poke through the box and had poked into one of the internal boxes housing one of the rotors. Luckily no damage was sustained.

by:

After one year and many trips to salt water, these are holding up about as well as you can expect them to. Way better than the cheap sets. No rust on the calipers at all. I do rinse trailer in fresh water after every trip.

by:

Easy install on to my double axel EZ-Loader boat trailer. I replaced the factory oil bath hubs with new hubs and the brake drums/backing plate units with this disc brake kits. It all works really good! My boat & trailer sees a lot of salt water/Puget Sound. I've very happy with this set-up! Smooth stops!

by:

Fast service and great products. Easy i nstall.

by:

Submitted my order and it was shipped that same day. Order arrived earlier than was projected so I got my trailer together and was out on the water
Will definitely recommend you guys.

After one year the brakes work just like they are brand new The only thing I should have done was buy SS rotors.

by:

Good product-WAY better than the factory brakes that came on my EZloader! Fair price. Easy to order.

by:

Shipped the day I ordered and delivered today, within three days. Well packed. The calipers and rotors are much more substantial than another brand I am replacing them with but I have not yet installed them.

by:

Products were delivered very quickly. Easy directions and installation. I just wish I would have known extra hardware would be required to install products.
Tried to talk with etrailer about the addtional bolts required but they could not offer much information. They did try to answer my questions though.
I used these guys twice and will use them again!

by:

by:

Working as they were designed too

by:

They fit, they work as promised. What more can I say, I could not be happier! etrailer is as good an online supplier as I have ever dealt with! Kudos

by:

product was exactly as described. Very happy

by:

Quick processing, delivery and great customer communication; this is the reason I will make future etrailer purchases.

by:
