Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I ordered the Idler hub (pre-greased) for the 3500 lb axle I have just installed it and it fit perfect

Frank

3/11/2024

Have had no problems each trip is about 200miles and I have made numerous trips

by:

Finally got them in today (Postal Service delayed them in Memphis) and they are just as I ordered. Changed them out with the old hubs with no problem except the dust cover was just barely too big for my axle. No problem I just used by old dust covers.

by:

was an interesting job. had to buy a bearing puller to get of the old race then this went on and has been fine now for a year now. I bought both sides but only did the wobbly wheel as I don't like to fix what isn't broken yet.

by:

I’m very upset. I have ordered a lot of stuff from you, but this order really was bad. First off. It’s missing two Lugnuts. They gave me two that were too big as well. Also, dust covers do not fit. The solid ones do at least I think the ones with the rubber metal do not fit. I know they are hard to get in, and I am very experienced with putting them in and I could not get them to go in. Hopefully I haven’t tried them but the solid dust covers will work. If not, I will have to buy some bearing buddies. I don’t know if I will be using you again cheap Chinese stuff you’re selling

I am sorry that it came with missing hardware and that the grease caps are tough to tap into place. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

by:

Ordering was easy. I had some questions so I called. Tammie was very helpful and took my order. Hubs arrived in 2 days. Installed easily and works perfectly. etrailer is a great company to do business with.

by:

They look good, will be installing and finishing a total light job, complete switch to electric brakes, safety trigger, battery by the end of next week. Thank-you etrailer!

by:

Etrailer tech (George J) was great helping me pick this out for my trailer

by:

Everything has worked as should

by:

I put the new hub assembly on for my Lil' Hobo retro camper trailer. The hub assembly doesn't come with a washer and nut for the spindle, so you need to save your old ones or buy these separate if you don't have them. I put it on with new tires and wheels, upgrading from a four bolt to five bolt pattern.

by:

Good price, right fit for my trailer per my research on your website. Short wait time on delivery. If product lasts, very pleased with overall experience with your company. Thank you.

by:

The right parts at the right price !

by:

Just a quick note to say thank you to eTrailer for not only the quality of parts received but also to Melissa for the dedicated service and attention that was given to me when placing my order.

THANK YOU MELISSA for all of your help!
Looking forward to my next purchase!

by:

Converted my trailer to 5x4.5 so I could use standard rims. Everything worked great. I ordered 2 drums and 2 hubs. Everything included.

by:

Parts fit and worked as like they should. Fast shipping.

by:

Fast delivery
...the hub and bearing
set should include cotter pin had to replace them and for an additional couple of cent it far to Loews.
Thanks anyway

by:

My trailer originally had 5/ 4.75 hubs but decided to change to 5/4.5 hubs since my other trailer has the 5/4.5 hubs. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

Not much to see, but here are pics of the installed new hub and Bearing Buddy.

by:

Got pre packed hubs for boat trailer they fit perfect just as described!! Fast shipping. Would recommend A plus

by:

Perfect fit. I can always count on Etrailer for all my trailer needs

by:

The hub is nice fit perfect. The included dust caps however had to be beaten in. Hard.

by:

i told the person on the phone that both bearings were the same size and what was shipped was two different bearings. so i could not trailer my boat and missed out on the tournament. unexceptable

by:

Worked like a charm great product

by:

Product works great and was easy to install. I don't think it came with the castle nut pin, which might be problematic for some people who don't have hardware collections at their work space. It might help those who are unfamiliar with hub installation to get an install guide with the product. I could see someone over tightening the castle nut and ruining their new bearings.

Great! I checked them after about 250 miles of use and they were still tight and in great shape. They were exactly as described and perfect for my application.

If you want a accurate review you may want to wait more than 2 hrs after delivery to request a review

Works great and fast shipping. Customer service is great too.

  • Which Grease Cap for AKIHUB-545-35-K 3500 lb Idler Hub Assembly
The # AKIHUB-545-35-K hub you mentioned uses a 1.980 OD grease cap like # RG04-040. The caps are designed to fit tightly, so they are a little tricky to install the first time. I like to use a small block of wood placed across the face of the cap, then use a hammer to tap it into place.

  • Where to Measure Axle of 1988 Ranger Trailer to Pick Out Replacement
You are going to need to measure your current axles in a few places to get the correct one as we don't have access to what your numbers reference. You will need to measure from hub face to hub face and then from the spring seat centers. You will also need to know what bolt pattern you have on your current hubs. I attached a help article on how to determine this as well. I also attached a link to a page with all of the axles we carry.

  • How to Measure a Spindle to Identify it
The easiest way to determine what spindle your trailer has is to use a dial or digital caliper like the part # PTW80157 to measure it where the bearings and grease seal ride. I attached a picture that shows where these measurements are. If where the inner bearing rides measures 1.378 inches, outer bearing 1.063 inches, and then the seal 1.719 inches the hub part # AKIHUB-545-35-K that you referenced will fit. This is the number 84 spindle.

  • Do You Know the Difference Between a 11033 Hub and My 11033L Hub?
While we cannot confirm for sure what the "L" means on the 11033L, the "L" does not make a differences when coming to fitment of the hub. With that being said, the Tie Down Engineering 11033 hub has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and is designed for 3500-lb axles. Replacement hubs that have these specs typically use a # L68149 inner bearing and # L44649 outer bearing, as well as inner race # L68111, outer race # L44610 and grease seals with inner diameter of 1.719" and outer diameter of 2.565". Since your 2015 Jayco Jayflight 185 RD has a 3,500 lb axle the pre-greased hub part # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K is the correct fitting hub. It looks like you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern too so that matches as well.

  • What Bearings Does Tie Down Engineering Hub TDE46210 Use?
The TDE46210 hub you have is for a spindle that uses inner bearing # L68149 with an I.D. of 1-3/8" and outer bearing # L44649 which has an I.D. of 1-1/16" as you saw in the question you looked at. This is the standard bearing combination for a 3500lb axle, so I do recommend double checking that your outer bearing I.D. measures 1" and not the standard 1-1/16". If your outer bearing is 1" then it is the # L44643 so you can still use the hub # AKIHUB-545-35-K as the # L44643 and # L44649...

  • Is It Possible To Remove Brakes On 3,500lb Axle And Replace with Idler Hub?
Physically? Yes. Legally? Maybe. Assuming your axle is a 3,500, which is by far the most common, you can remove the 10" brakes from the backing plate and replace the hub and drum assembly with an idler hub like # AKIHUB-545-35-K. With that said if your trailer has brakes it's almost 100% due to them being required by law. Brake laws vary state by state, but if you'll be using the trailer on the road you could open yourself up to tickets and lawsuits should you have an accident and you...
