Video Transcript for Review of DeeMaxx Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub with Integrated Rotor - DE49VR

Hello, everybody, this Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this DeeMaxx 10-inch diameter hub and rotor assembly with the five-on-4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Has the Maxx coating on it and it's for the 3,500 pound axles. Now, this is a single piece hub and rotor assembly so it makes installation a snap, whether you're retrofitting or switching from drum brakes. They do use a nice machine process which will minimize any runout and warping, and because it's all one piece, the contaminants can't get in between the rotor and the hub. It is a nice balanced unit, provides a nice smooth ride.

Does have the vented design, which will effectively dissipate the heat, prevents any heat-related damage. And a nice advantage on this DeeMaxx one it uses these drainage holes in the hat section here all the way around. That allows the water to drain easily, prevent any corrosion building up. This does use half-inch standard wheel studs and they also use industry standard bearing races, which are all pre-installed. This is a cast iron construction, ensures a favorable friction coefficient for necessary stopping power.

And we mentioned this has the Maxx coating on it and that provides superior corrosion resistance for freshwater or saltwater use. It does have over 1,000 hour salt spray rating. Again, this fits a 3,500 pound axle. The wheel size that'll fit on this is 13 inches and larger. We mentioned the bolt pattern is five-on-4 1/2 inches.

The wheel stud diameter half an inch. And the overall diameter on this, they called this a 10 inch, and if you measured, it's about 10 3/16 of an inch. Now, the bearings are not included. Those we do sell separately on our website and we do list the part numbers on the product page to let you know, but basically the inner bearing, which will go back here on the inner bearing race, is part number L68149. The outer bearing, which would go on the race here is part number L44649.

And then the grease seal that would go in the back here, that uses a part number JS-1719DL. And again, those items we do sell separately on our website. But that should do it for the review on this DeeMaxx 10-inch diameter hub and rotor assembly with the five-on-4 1/2 inch bolt pattern with the Maxx coating for 3,500 pound axles.

  • Replacement Hub and Rotor Assembly for 2023 Shoreland'r Boat Trailer with 3,000 lb Weight Rating
Your Shoreland'r trailer uses a 10" disc brake assembly so to replace that I recommend this part from DeeMaxx along with the #84 spindle bearing kit: - DeeMaxx 10" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly # DE49VR - Hub Bearing Kit for 3,500 lb Axle with #84 Spindle # BK2-100 The DeeMaxx hub and rotor kit is a great solution for boat trailers as the Maxx coating has a salt-spray rating of over 1,000 hours which is over twice as much as the Kodiak alternative, part # KHR10D, that I'm pretty sure came...

  • Can Larger 3,500 lb Brake Rotor Be Used As Replacement On Trailer
Although both of those fall under a 10" hub and rotor assembly, it sounds like you do not have DeeMaxx on there right now. In general the disc brake parts cannot be interchanged. The # DE49VR you got has a 10-3/16" diameter, Kodiak # KHR10D sits at 10", and then there is Dexter # K08-435-05 which matches your 9-3/4" measurement. Seems like you have Dexter on there right now so you would want to stick with Dexter replacement parts assuming that is correct. The other option would be to swap...

  • Are The DeeMaxx Hub/Rotor Assemblies Compatible With Kodiak 225 Calipers?
The DeeMaxx 10" Hub/Rotor Assembly # DE49VR is only compatible with the DeeMaxx brand calipers like part # DE86VR. If you have Kodiak 225 calipers you will need a Kodiak brand rotor as well, such as part # KHR10D.

  • Why Are There Holes in the DeeMaxx 10" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly
The holes in the DeeMaxx 10" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly # DE49VR are designed to avoid water pooling into that part of the assembly. I wouldn't say that pooling what is a massive issue, but just the fact that DeeMaxx built this in and is making a subtle change to help maximize the life of their kit goes to show the thought and care that went into the design of their products.
