Video Transcript for Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Parts - Roller and Bunk Parts - DL21755 Review

Today were going to review part number DL21755. This is the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Standard Roller Bunk in five foot long sections. These Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunks will provide a quick, easy and inexpensive way to upgrade your bunk-style trailers to rollers. They feature a non-marking two-compound roller which has a durable wear-resistant inner surface and a soft boat cushioning outer surface. These roller bunks are designed to attach directly to your wooden bunks that are two inches wide on your boat trailer. Basically, you would set this on to your wooden bunk and there are holes right here, pre-drilled that you would just mark and then drill a hole through and then use a bolt to attach it to the wooden bunk.

Now if your boat trailer does not have wooden bunks or you want to remove the wooden bunks, you can still use these. What you have to do is use this roller bunk bracket which is sold separately. Its part number DL21762 and you will need at least two of these for each section. And what these would do is where the bolts would normally go through the wooden bunk, you would just put the section that has the hook part on it right in the hole and then the bolt would gone through here and then with this bracket having the slotted holes, you can adjust it and bolt it to your boat trailer and get the correct height you need. This part is constructed of a 14-gauge steel, has a black powdered-coat finish, has a total weight capacity for both of these roller bunks is 3000 pounds maximum and again they are five feet long and they are two inches wide.

The rollers on them are free to pivot and they will align with the boat hull. Each five foot section will have six sets of two rollers so 12 rollers on five foot section and 12 on another one. So over all for both roller bunks, you would have 12 sets of two rollers. This part is made in the USA. That should do it on a review on part number DL21755.

The paint peeled off the steel in months and when I called customer service they wouldn’t stand behind the product. They said they’re not intended to be in water. Seems a poor choice of materials for Boat trailer rollers that are produced to roll your boat into the water??

Jon,Thank you for your review. These boat rollers are made to be in water when getting the boat on and off of the trailer. When they are submerged for long periods of time it can cause some wear on the rollers. A better option would be galvanized rollers such as: part # DL21741 but even then they are susceptible to rust if underwater for long periods of time.

Worked great for loading a raft onto our trailer

by:

These boat trailer roller bunks worked absolutely perfectly on my jet ski trailer. Very durable, professionally made. Easy to install. Fit like a glove without having to remove the carpet padding on the rails. This company knows what they are doing and for a very reasonable price. A year later and they are still working like I got them yesterday.

by:

Excellent product, heavy duty, easy to install, and so far have worked flawlessly for me, great product!

by:

I bought these hoping I could adapt them as rollers on a floating jetski dock. Took a little ingenuity, but worked like a champ. I can now push my ski off the dock with one hand! Great product.

by:

Outstanding customer service!

by:

I had carpeted bunks on my trailer and always had problems launching my boat due to the dry carpet, I couldn't always submerge the bunks in the water due to the tide. I decided to try the rollers and Wow, what a difference it makes. Easy Off, and On. I have a flat bottom Scooter and I recommend the rollers for easy launching. The materials used are of good quality and the wheels do not mar the fiberglass bottom. Just be sure keep the boat secured until reaching the water because it will roll off, it's that easy to get the boat off the trailer. Thank you Etrailer, you have a good product.

The roller bunks are still working however the metal frames are rusting very badly after 1 yr. If you can make these in galvanized metal you will really have a winner. Ill keep checking back to look for them.

by:

We considered several alternatives for a way to easily move our 15' sailboat out of the water, over our bulkhead and across our dock. The DL21755 roller bunks work perfectly. I can almost move the boat across the dock with one hand. We mounted them on 2x2's that we attached to the dock. We used 2x2's to keep a low profile.

High quality product and the service and prices from etrailer were absolutely fabulous. Rollers arrived in a few days and were packed very securely. We will be doing business again with etrailer!

Thank you

Yes, all products are as expected.Thank you.

by:

Excellent! They look like they will be helpful in launching my boat on a trailer. I could not do so with my current trailer. I think the parts sent will modify my trailer into a useful device. Thank you.

They worked great...but i have sold that boat and trailer since then. I may be interested in getting some wheel bunks for my latest boat.

by:

Terrific product - But be careful at the ramp! Don't release the winch strap from the boat if the ramp is on a slight incline because the rearward weight of the motor will cause the boat to just fly off the trailer into the water. It happened to me the first time I used it since the installation. It was on a river and the boat started to drift away. Lucky for me a local rescue team was there doing some practice and they retrieved the boat for me. Now I attach a spring shackle, with 1/4" rope attached, to the boat clevis before removing the winch hook. I can gently let the boat slide off the trailer and keep it under control with the rope.

I'm 77 and it was getting harder for me to push the boat off of the trailer if the river was low and equally hard to pull it back onto the trailer at the end of the day. Now it is so simple! I just push the boat out into the flow and when it gets to the center of the trailer I just pull up on the rope and center the bottom of the boat over the bunks. The boat easily comes almost all the way up to the rubber "V" bumper on the trailer. Then it is a simple matter to crank the winch and bring the boat up tight against the bumper.

by:

Works great seems to hold up very well for sitting in fresh water for a year straight. I could not get my wave runner or jet Jon out of the water without them. Great product for a home made ski lift.

GREAT SO EASY TO LOAD AND UNLOAD

by:

I as of yet not installed my rollers, only because of finding the time to do it. I was however very pleased of the fast delivery. As I inspected the product, I was impressed of the quality of assembly. From what I can tell, I will be quite pleased with the end result.

they do fine, but not as well as I had hoped

by:

First off I would like to say that I experienced great customer service throughout my recent orders. I knew that some of my products where back ordered, but I was willing to wait for some of them, others they were able to give me suggestions for in stock items and it worked out perfect. As far as this product goes (which I waited for), I greatly dislike giving reviews right after I receive a product and don't have time to see how it will hold up, but this roller bunker installed very easy and once adjusted worked very well. My old roller bunker started to loose it's wheels (many years old). I only wish I was better prepared, in my head I though I was going to lag screw these in from the top (into the wooden bunker) but after I got the boat off I realized they bolted through the wooden bunker, so I quickly ran down the road and got stainless 3/8 x 2.5" bolts, after that it was quick. If they don't last I will make sure to update my review.

by:

The rails and rollers are a great product and arrived on time. The Bunk Style Guides do not have mounting brackets suitable for mounting on a standard boat trailer from Academy which uses Angle Stock aluminum for their frame. The brackets are only useable on square or rectangular frames. I fabricated my on mounting hardware to install them.

by:

The rollers exceed expectations. The delivery was quick and without incident. Very satisfied customer

by:

The rollers are great, BUT it's possible they won't fit over existing wood bunks & brackets. I have a load rite bandit trailer and ran into this issue. The resolution was to remove the wood bunks and brackets / install with new brackets, so figure the additional cost when purchasing.

by:

works nice.

by:

the roller bunk works well. i had to remove the old bunks (were carpeted 2X4 laying flat) and make new rails the width of the roller bunk channel. i couldn't use the old trailer hardware so i had to improvise. tested new setup this past weekend and they worked very well.

by:

I used four roller bunks to build a jet ski ramp off of a fresh water seawall. The ramp is partially underwater 6 months a year. The bunks did the job and have held up very well in the first year.

by:

modified a utility trailer to haul a 15'6" canoe no problem with a couple of keel rollers now it's a easy one-man load and unload good quality parts at great price!

by:

Works great seems to hold up very well for sitting in fresh water for a year straight. I could not get my wave runner or jet Jon out of the water without them. Great product for a home made ski lift. Tommy F. Lake Conroe Tx. Ps not sure how to submit picture not computer savvy.

by:

This product is very important to me. At 70 years old, loading and unloading my boat by myself can be a chore.
Also, the lakes I fish sometimes have low water levels with unpaved ramps and again roller bunks makes loading and unloading easier.
This product is a godsend!

by:

Great product but even greater customer service.

I ordered a set of these and then realized that I needed to also order a trailer coupler. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to call etrailer on a SUNDAY and find a knowledgeable LIVE body to talk to. I successfully revised my order and received all my items 3 days later!

Great customer service.

For your application I recommend installing roller bunks as well as some guide-ons to help make loading your boat MUCH easier with your conditions. The Caliber Marine Teflon Slides look like they would help to make loading/unloading the boat easier, but not near as easy as it is with the rollers. For the roller bunks we have a selection to choose from and it really just depends on where you plan on installing the rollers. You can piece 2 together for longer boards. From Dutton Lainson...

  • Can the Boat Trailer Standard Roller Bunk Be Used Submerged Under Water On a Boat Ramp
The Boat Trailer Standard Roller Bunk part # DL21755 is designed to be used on a trailer which although will be frequently submerged in water, would/should not be constantly. I took a look at some reviews of customers using these rollers as a boat ramp where they are constantly submerged and it seems like an issue is the paint wearing faster and the rails thereby rusting. Therefore, the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk part # DL21741 which are galvanized will be a better option.

The only roller bunks we carry, see link, come in 4 and 5 foot lengths. They can be cut to the lengths needed though. So for example if you needed a 9 foot section you could get 2 of the 5 foot models and cut off 12 inches of one to get 9 feet. For a 6 foot section you could buy three 4-foot sections # DL21754 and cut one in half so you would end up with 6 feet on each side.

This number does not directly corelate with your Scarab as you are not trying to lift the boat with the winch, you are only pulling it completely onto the trailer when loading.
