Axles, Lighting, Fenders and Wheel Options for a Trailer Used for a Hobie 16

Question:

Planning a upgrade / rebuild this winter on a trailer used for a Hobie 16. Has 8inch wheels but want to go to 12. Current Axle is 1 1/2 inch square, with 47inch Spring to Spring Cntr to Cntr. Would like to buy all stuff from you, including 3 of your tire wheel combinations AM30780 and either replacement hubs 4x4 or a complete axle hub assembly such as 20440I-EZ-60. Bothered by the 1inch diff in spr to spr distance. current trailer has no brakes. trailer weight is 225 lbs, and the boat itself is 320 lbs. Trailer has never been licensed before, and was only used to for winter storage. Boat normally was on those in-water small Cat racks just off-shore from owner home. also looking for rollers and light upgrades. Trailer/boat appear to be from 1990. Any suggestions? have yet to take wheels off the hubs, but maybe should start there. This will be my winter in garage upgrade project so I can not worry about the old part on the trailer overheating. probably need new fenders too since I dont think the 12s will fit in the old jeep style fenders. Entire trailer could be home builtfoot but seems it could have been made for the Hobie...just cant find any marking on it. current hubs have BT-100 stamped on inner face of hub. Looking for advice / help Thanks,

If you really wanted to you could use the Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Idler Hubs # 20440I-EZ-60 on your trailer, but you will have to move the suspension hangers on your trailer out a half an inch on both sides for it to properly fit. Another option would be to find a local trailer shop and have them custom order you axles that will fit your exact measurement. Or you could go with an axle less system like the part # A12RS440. This is a great option that would be better matched to the weight capacity you need and includes 4 on 4 inch hubs plus it's own suspension system.

For roller bunks you could go with the part # DL21755 that is sold in 5 foot sections. For all other rollers like keel rollers and wobble rollers check out the link I attached.

I also attached a link to a page that has all of the submersible trailer lights we offer.

And finally I attached a link to a page that has all of the different trailer fender styles we offer that are confirmed to fit 12 inch wheels. These fenders would go well with the part # AM30780 you are interested in.

I hope everything I mentioned will give you a good starting point for researching the build on your trailer. Let me know if you need anything else.
