Recommendations for Boat Trailer Roller Bunks for a 2400 Pound Boat

Question:

The 4 ft. black roller bunks indicate that the rollers pivot to match the bottom of the boat. Currently my carpeted bunks do no align with the hull. Do the 5 ft galvanized bunks also pivot? My boat is about 2400 lbs. Should I go with the 5 ft. bunks? thank you,

First off, there may be a solution to the bunks not aligning with the hull. With the Dutton-Lainson roller bunks we offer, you can also get Boat Trailer Roller Bunk Bracket for Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunks, # DL21762, for the pivoting black steel roller bunks, or # DL21742, for the galvanized. These brackets allow the roller bunks to be adjusted vertically from the trailer and angled to cradle the boat hull.

Neither galvanized roller bunks, # DL21741, and # DL21740, will pivot. But both black steel models will pivot.

In terms of capacity, both the galvanized and black steel 4 foot models can hold 2,500 pounds. The 5 foot models can hold 3,000 pounds. I would recommend the 5 foot models as it can be easy to overload the roller bunks if your boat is already 2,400 pounds. After accounting for all of your cargo and any residual water in the boat, that extra 500 pounds capacity between the two lengths will come in handy.

So for a pivoting roller bunk, I recommend the Boat Trailer Standard Roller Bunk - 5 foot Long - 10 Sets of 2 Rollers, # DL21755. These roller bunks will give you 3,000 pounds capacity and can be adjusted and angled using Bracket # DL21762 (four are needed to mount a pair of roller brackets).
