Video Transcript for Valterra RV Sewer - Waste Valves - T1003VP Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve. This valve is a 3" Bladex valove. It's going to allow you to replace, repair, or upgrade to a new dependable valve. It's going to feature a plastic handle here on top. This is very strong and very durable. It's going to feature a stainless steel shaft that's corrosion resistant.

It's got the threaded handle that makes it easy for replacement if you ever need to do that. Now, Bladex valves are interchangeable with most other brands. It's going to come with the actual valve. It's going to come with the appropriate seals and the hardware that's needed to get it installed. The seals are made from santoprene 00:00:36 construction that's design to resist chemicals and corrosion. When you're ready to install it, you need to remove your old valve and seals and then place the new seals over the lip of the existing flanged fittings.

Insert the new valve, being careful not to dislodge the seals and then tighten everything in place for your full installation with the included nuts and bolts. It's a really easy operation. It's got a nice lever design to it, T-handled grip, just nice fluid consistent motion allows you to easily open and close the valve. Few measurements to go over with you real quick. The overall length with the unit in the closed position, we're looking at about 9 1/2". With it fully open, we're looking at about 12 3/4".

The width of the unit down here at this portion, that's going to give us a measurement of about 4 3/8". The thickness, it's going to measure about 13/16" thick. Then the mount holes, there's going to be four mount holes on the unit, one here on each corner. Those are going to be separated on center by 3 3/4" and that's going to be the same distance between each hole. That's going to do it for today's look at the Valterra Bladex 3" Waste Valve.

A couple weeks ago I backed our travel trailer into a campsite and clipped a large rock with the waste tank drain system. The flange from the Y pipe was damaged so I needed to replace it and since the black tank valve may have been damaged, I decided to replace that as well. Etrailer had all the Valterra parts I needed and one important detail was that they were all identified with the Valterra part numbers eliminating any chance of miss-ordering a component.

Everything went together easily and the waste drain system on our TT is good as new. Thanks Etrailer!

by:

Reasonably priced. They shipped and arrived promptly. Easy to install and have worked without issue for nearly a year. I would recommend etrailer and the Valterra valves.

by:

I recommend a trailer highly the customer service representatives are fantastic and knew exactly what I needed to finish the job. Thank you, Trailer.

by:

it was just what we was looking for fit perfectly on our portable waste tank thanks

Easy install. Replaced old valves because the T handle was broken. Sold trailer after installing

A GREAT product -- an exact replacement. The original valve has lasted for many years and am replacing all three Waste Valves. However, I have't install it, or the other one that arrive Saturday, but will this week. I did install the first valve which was operated via cable system two weeks ago. It works perfectly. I very much appreciated the friendly and knowledgeable assistance from all etrailer's employees. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. BTW, products well packaged -- no damage ...product arrive on schedule.

by:

Fast delivery and the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve was a perfect fit. Just make sure not to knock the gaskets lose while installing the blade.

by:

Service is excellent, price is reasonable, and delivery was on time and as I was informed. The product fit perfectly and was an easy diy install. I've had many interactions with etrailer and all have been 5 star so far. Look forward to dealing with them in the future.

by:

Exact replacement. Thanks

Still working smoothly and leak free.

by:

It was a simple order and was delivered on time as promised! My challenge now will be the install, due to the tank being full!

Well, it turned out that the exiting valve had not broken! I had wrongly assumed that since the handle finally moved after extreme force, that I had broken the valve! The problem was not the valve, but the sewage was frozen! I hadnt considered that possibility since I had heat tape on the pipe! So anyway I still have a brand new valve for a spare!

by:

I had to change black valve 3x. first one wouldn't close all the way . After replacing it , i found the gasket split that was the reason. The next valve started leaking ( gross) right away at the build points, after trying to tighten so it wouldn't leak , I don't know my own strength, the valve wouldnt open and in that process of tighten /loosen it cracked I threw it away and ordered another . After receiving it i took it apart put some plumbers putty around the edge to seal and used some lithium grease around the seal it's been great and error free .... hoping this one lasts so far it's been a year !!!

by:

Just right.

by:

I am not 100% satisfied with this product. It failed after a few months. The handle pulled completely out. I ordered a replacement, along with a spare. So far it has held up, but it has become very tight. It's just a matter of time until it pulls out as well. At least I have a spare to fall back on.
The place where the handle ties in to the valve body needs some metal reinforcement. If you're not careful when you open the valve, the plastic seat will shatter and the handle will pull completely out.
On the positive side, replacement is a breeze on my trailer.

by:

This is my second product purchase from etrailer.com. First purchase was a custom trailer hitch for our PriusV car. Excellent fit, excellent directions, easy self install.

We needed a replacement waste valve for our 35 foot motor home. I was dreading getting the part from any RV center as they are generally always over priced. I did an online search for the part and, to my surprise, there was etrailer.com. Excellent price, excellent quality, and no hassle ordering with on time delivery. Highly recommend etrailer.com.

by:

Arrived on time and it fit perfectly.

by:

E-Trailer shipped my replacement 3” Valterra Waste Valve immediately upon order and it was received in two days using standard shipping. The valve was exactly as stated in the description and came with new gaskets and mounting bolts. This timely service saved my annual trout opener camping trip. Thanks E-Trailer!

Replacing a five year old slide that came with the camper. This is a better quality slide. Easy to install. Etrailer is always great to work with! Love their videos!

Perfect! Continues to slide as day one. One less frustration. Funny how you can be happy in a waste slide

by:

Product is excellent, but it has different wiring then my old one, still use it and works well, but have to take the fuse out each time I use it or the red light keeps on blinking and afraid it will run the battery down. I will be taking it to a dealer to get the wiring straight , electricity is not my thing, product is fine just haven't got around to having an electrician fix it correctly.

by:

Had to use my handle, because it is long. Not the most pleasant job, but it does not leak down like my old one. A year later my sewer line is dry like it should be.

I purchased the black water tank valve and compared it to the one that came on our 5th wheel it appears to be of a better quality and made a little heavier . Now I also have the info I need to just buy new seals if I need them . I could not read the info on the old one. Life is good.

We recently needed to replace this item in our camper. My husband is handy but we are relatively new to the RV so we didn't know how this was going to work. This item not only arrived VERY QUICKLY, but was exactly as pictured and took only 5 minutes to install. We plan to use etrailer.com for all of our RV needs going forward. Thank you for making this experience so easy and flawless!!

  • Can A Single Gate Valve Be Replaced Or Does The Whole Assembly Have To Be Replaced
Each gate valve is held in place by four bolts that you can just unscrew and then swap the gate valve out with a new one like Valterra's Bladex # T1003VP and bolt back in place. If your gray gate valve ever needs to be replaced you can use part # T1001VPM. This method means no cutting and gluing in extra fittings for just a simple valve replacement. I've attached a video where I show you exactly how to do this.

The standard Valterra replacement valves like the part # T1003PBC are designed to attach to a remote handle that's further away while the Valterra Bladex like part # T1003VP the handle is right at the valve instead. Both valves are interchangeable with each other.

Yes, if you were to remove the hub and spigot from the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve # T40NH you would be left with a Valterra Bladex Waste Valve Body # T1003DSPB with the threaded shaft rather than a drilled shaft. A better option may be to use the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve Body # T1003VP and just remove the handle that is threaded on. That will take care of the 3" valve you are needing. The Valterra Bladex Waste Valve Body for RV Black Water Tank part # T1003VP will replace the valve but the part that you have now has a 3" spigot hub on both sides. This valve would require some modifying to fit into the same place as your old valve because you would have a gap. Therefore I recommend Valterra Bladex Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank part # T40 which is a 3" hub to 3" hub spigot like you need.
