Video Transcript for Valterra ABS Solvent Cement Review

Conner: Hey guys. Conner here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the ABS Weld-On Solvent. Now, the Valterra ABS Weld-On Solvent is going to be used so we can fuse together all of our sewer lines on our coach or motor home. Essentially, this differs from normal cement in that this is actually going to form a fusion weld with the ABS plastic. It's specifically designed for this exact purpose. Similar to what we might find for PVC pipes where it's actually cement, this is going to cause a chemical reaction with the plastic and form a nice tight and secure seal.

But please keep in mind, since we are dealing with chemicals here, we always want to make sure we have the proper protection such as safety gloves and our safety glasses.I'm going to show you how to use this, but if we could just take a quick look right here. You can see it's inaudible 00:00:47 of a slimy gooey substance. We're essentially going to show you how to use this. Let's start out with, we're just going to be coating the outer diameter of the pipes as well as the inner diameter of the fitting. That's going to take about three minutes for this to set up and then it will be safe to handle the fittings.

However, it is going to take a full 30 minutes to cure. We always want to make sure before we use this the lid is on nice and tight. We want to give it a good shake to make sure all the materials are mixed around. The Valterra ABS Weld-On Solvent has a shelf life of about three years. It comes in this nice convenient quarter size pint, and today we're going to be showing you how to use this when we install the waste valves on our motor home here.So what we're going to do here is open our can up.

Once we have it open, we're going to take our solvent here and we're essentially just going to try to get it around the outer diameter of the pipe, making sure not to make too much of a mess. Once we have a good coat of the solvent around the outside diameter of the pipe, we can go ahead and press on our first coupler here. And then we want to push that all the way back to make sure we get as much as a seal as possible with the pipe, and then we're going to let that dry for a few minutes and we can move on to the other side. Make sure when we're putting on our ABS sealant that we coat not only the outside diameter of the pipe, but also the inner diameter of the fitting as well. Now we're just going to continue on piecing everything back together. Now that we have everything in place, we're going to want to go ahead and give it some time to let everything seal and cure over time.

I would say around 20 or 30 minutes or so. And then we can go into the RV and pour some water down our sinks and our toilet so we can test everything out to make sure there's no leaks. Upon visual inspection here, we don't see any leaks. However, what you want to do is take a piece of cardboard, set it under the valves and make sure. Let it sit for about five to 10 minutes and make sure you don't see any leaks. That'll let us know that all the fittings in the pipes are secure. However, we do want to remove our bayonet cap here and make sure the valves are sealed as well. As you can see, we don't have any water here, so we know those have done their job. That's going to do it here today for the Valterra ABS Weld-On Solvent.

The installers of my hydraulic leveling system damaged my sewer system and I could not hire anyone to repair the leak damage quickly. I had to repair it myself without any experience, but I found your website and watched some useful videos you had online. I ordered a bunch of parts not knowing exactly what I needed and slowly began to remove, measure, cut and replace the sewer system with what I ordered. I found that I could reuse some existing parts and I returned some unused parts and got an appreciated refund...thanks to some help from your staff. I added a picture of my repair/modification that shows how I added an S curve to avoid the leveling system strut. The parts, video instruction, and service you provide were a big help. I will admit that it wasn't easy, especially reinstalling both those sewer valves in my particular sewer setup. I should have made a video of how I did it to help others...lol, there would be too many bleeps for foul language.

Does the job, but store it inside - didn’t survive a TN winter in the shop and jelled up (didn’t follow the directions)

by:

Prompt delivery. Great customer support. Thanks for the videos...very helpful.

by:

Got everything on time. Thanks

by:

Works as advertised

by:

Parts were fine but would never place an order through them again because it took 4 weeks t get the parts.

by:

received everything I ordered promptly and in good condition. I have ordered from E-trailer several times and have never had a problem.

by:

Great value and lightning fast shipping.

by:

how do you hook you hook up your sewer hose to this part??? There is a piece of pipe adhered to the drain that blocks you from installing the sewer hose.

by:

Product was great

by:

Ready set GO! SETS fast and holds tight

by:

I does the job

by:

I had a little mishap this past winter and didn't do a very good job of winterizing my RV and ended up with busted grey water drain pipes. After checking at the local big-box hardware store (parts not available) and a well-known camping retailer ($$$$$) I logged onto etrailer and, "voila" ...there's what I need to do the repairs. After a short conversation with George J. to confirm they were the correct parts I placed my order and even with "economy shipping" my parts were here and installed in about a week without breaking the bank.
etrailer always seems to have the right product at the right price and very fast shipping!

This is the cement (glue) you need to use if your sewer pipe on your RV is black and says 'ABS' on the pipe, to glue on new fittings. Works as it should, and on 3" fittings, it only gives you a couple of seconds to push on the fitting with a twist onto the plastic pipe. It will set fast on these hot days of summer so get ready and know just how your fittings need to be BEFORE you put the cement on them! And all will be well; just follow directions on cement container and know that it is going to set fast on a hot day.

by:

Worked great, like we had expected. No leaks.

by:

I had a broken lug on the black sewer line. Purchased a new adapter and abs cement to replace it. Cut through the old adapter in 3 places and broke it loose using a hammer and screw driver. Removal was straight forward and not as difficult as expected. The new part fit perfectly and the abs glue welded right on. No dripping black water!

by:

Works great. Despite the other part indicating you do not need this, we used it anyway to secure the gaskets on the black water valve. So far so good.

by:

I bought this to glue pipe to change the location of my grey water discharge to a more convenient and accessible location. It was shipped quickly and excellent quality. I'm always very happy with the products and service at etrailer.com!!

by:

Everything as described, packed well in box. Will be used to connect kitchen grey water drain point to bathroom drain point. Needed as campground will only make one connection to drain trailer.

by:

got the coreect items in my order. rec'd items as described. fast service and good communication on order progress.

by:

works the 1st time

by:

Product worked as advertised . another good product offered by etrailer. The only place to purchase items for your truck ,camper ,trailer or about anything else you need

by:

This worked great at rerouting pipe and making gray water bigger

by:

Easy to use and appears to have done It's job of gluing a new sewer hose connection to my fiver as the nubs had broken off and hose could not be secured! This is a great product!

by:

  • Which Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve To Use
You linked to the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank, # E40-8 a 3" Hub to 3" Spigot. The difference between a hub connection and a spigot connection is that the hub is the female end and has a lip on the inside that stops the spigot (or male) end. Please note the three options of a 3" Hub to 3" Hub - # E40B-8, 3" Hub to 3" Spigot - # E40-8 or 3" Spigot to 3" Spigot - # E40A-8. • Repositioning RV Waste Drain Valves
The Valterra EZ Valve Double Electric Waste Valve # E85-8 is designed to connect to two horizontal 3-inch waste pipes to combine them for dumping through the central tube. From your photo I cannot tell if that is your setup. On this part the two bolt-on valve bodies can be unbolted, rotated to another orientation and then bolted back together. For installations that require it this can give you the needed clearance for the electric motor/handle assemblies. You do need to use ABS solvent...

  • Recommended Replacement For A LaSalle Bristol V93B1 RV Sewer Fitting
Thank you for the pictures of your LaSalle Bristol V93B1, it made it a lot easier to find the correct replacement to get your RV's sewer system back in working order. The V93B1 appears to just be the actual drain pipe with the gray dumping into the black line and doesn't include any valves. You'll need the Valterra RV Sewer Heel Inlet # T1030. This is going to have the same 2" hub fitting and 3" rotating flange as your V93B1 so you can easily swap it out. You'll need some ABS Cement #...

  • Sewer Drain Valve and Hose Needed for Current Drain System
Since sewage connectors do need a proper seal (typically by using solvent # A05-0303) I do recommend changing out some of your sewage pipes as they are looking a bit rough. It does look like you have a 3" round pipe from your photo so if you were to keep your current system you could possibly use a Fernco rubber sleeve to connect the Valterra Coupling # F02-2025BK to either an extension or to the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve # T50. If you need an extension you will put this waste valve...

The standard size is 1-1/2" for the grey water tanks and 3" for the black water tanks. If this is what you have then you will want to use the Double RV Waste Valves part # T80.
