Video Transcript for Review of Valterra RV Sewer Hose Fittings - Sewer Adapters - Sewer Couplers and Nipples - T1041-1

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we gonna take a look at the Valterra RV gray-water eccentric tank reducer. Now, this eccentric tank reducer will convert a three-inch tank outlet to a 1-1/2 inch opening for a gray-water tank. This can also be used to reduce a three-inch sewer pipe to a 1-1/2 inch pipe. The three-inch spigot end right here will mount directly in your tank outlet, or slide over a three-inch sewer pipe. The overall diameter on this end is 3-1/2 inches.

The inside diameter, where the pipe will slide in, is right at three-inches. On the other end, the hub side, the overall diameter on this is 2-1/4 inches. And the inside diameter is right about 1-7/8 inches. So, this will fit over 1-1/2 inch size sewer pipe. Now to connect this, it does require ABS solid cement for installation.

And that solid cement, we do sell separately on our website. But that should do it for the review on this Valterra RV gray-water eccentric tank reducer..

Quality part that arrived in a timely manner. This is an offset reduction coupling that allows the 3" pipe drain completely into the 1 1/2" pipe. Just what I needed. If connecting to a 3" pipe you will need a coupling.

Exactly what I needed to make my basement shower drain work. Keeping the flow line of the drain at the top of the concrete slab was critical. This fitting was mandatory to do that. Worked great. Needed special pipe glue to work with the pvc in the house but the glue was cheap and worked fine.

by:

Exactly what I needed that I could not find at the hardware store. This is the gray water tank ABS connection adapter to the drain line. It did take over a week to get to my house so pay the bucks for fast shipping if you are in a hurry.

  • Fittings Needed To Expand 1-1/2" Sewer Pipe To 3" Pipe
To widen your 1-1/2" pipe to 3" using the Valterra Eccentric Tank Reducer - RV Gray Water - 3" Spigot to 1-1/2" Hub # T1041-1 you would first need the Valterra DWV Adapter for RV Sewer System - ABS Plastic - 1-1/2" Hub to FPT # D50-2922 to screw onto your current fitting. The # T1041-1 would then slide over the 1-1/2" hub fitting of the # D50-2922 allowing you to connect a 3" pipe to your sewer system. Between these two fittings you'll want to use some ABS Solvent Cement # A05-0303 to...

Unfortunately just looking at a picture isn't going to be enough for me to identify what the manufacturer used to glue the 3" pipe reducer # T1041-1 to the other fitting, however I can tell you that you should use some ABS # A05-0303 when you're ready to hook up your new pipe reducer.

If you check out the video link I attached you can see where our demo guy measures the larger side of the T10401-2 and it has an outer diameter of 3-1/2 inches and an inner diameter of 3 inches. Right at the 29 second mark you can see the ruler held up to the product so you know he isn't mistaken. That end is going to fit over a 3 inch sewer pipe like you mentioned.

When replacing RV sewer lines you have to cut them totally off since the ABS cement is a permanent plastic weld. Then when you go to make new connections you end up having to replace anything that can't be separated. On # E84-8 the center tube has bayonet fittings. Based on your pictures you would need # E84-8. However, the input size of either hub is 3 inches so your smaller tubes would not fit without adapting to the tubing size you have up to a 3 inch mating tube to fit the E84-8. The Valterra Eccentric Tank Reducer, part # T1041-1, is installed with cement. When you reinstall the new one use # A05-0303. The cement is permanent so you're not going to be able to break it up. Instead you need to cut the pipes after removing the hose clamps. Then replace it with the new one and apply the new cement. The same cement can be used on other plumbing parts as well.
