Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

So far so good holding up well after a year or so. Just an fyi if you get tires from e-trailer they compressed don't be worried set in the sun and they will pop back in shape.

by:

Tires were an exact replacement for tires on my Load Rite utility trailer. I wanted to replace since the tires were roughly 8 years old, but still very serviceable and had a lot of life. I was being proactive in prelacing. Delivery time was as communicated and tires were installed with no issues.

by:

This is the place to go for all your trailer needs. My set of 4 tires was shipped almost immediately after ordering and they came in quickly with no hassle. I would highly recommend Etrailer for sure. Great folks to do business with!

by:

So far I like the tires. But I will not get them on my machine until spring! The price is great I do have the same tires on my trailer. But I paid much more!!! This is my Bobcat 530 I will be putting the tires on it I see other guys with 205/75/15 on theirs too! Maybe I won't tear the grass. Make the wife happy!!!!

by:

A bent axle burned thru the tire this replaced. Seems to be a good match for OEM. Only have a couple hundred miles on the replacement tire so can’t give estimate of mileage it will give. No flats or problems

by:

Tire and wheel were exactly what I needed. Mounted up easily. Product shipped early and was in perfect condition when it arrived. Best buying experience I’ve had in a long time! Customer service rep was knowledgeable and friendly.

by:

Ordered two 15 inch tires. Both boxes were labeled as 15 inch but one actually contained a 14 inch tire. Contacted customer service and waiting on reply.

I am sorry that the tires were smooshed. Based on the picture I say that they will still work for you, however if you do need assistance with them, please let us know.

etrailer.com , I buy all my trailer tires from you, best price, fast shipping.

For the past 12 years Ive only bought Loadstar trailer tires for the vintage trailer I work on, I havent had a single problem with anyone them. You keep making them Ill keep buying them.

by:

The tires themselves are fine. But the way they are shipped is very strange (and this made mounting them extremely difficult). We ended up having to leave them out in the sun for awhile to warm up (to get the rubber would be more malleable) so we could finally mount them.

Etrailer Expert

When the tires are shipped to us they are compressed together to save space. You already did what we would suggested by allowing the tire to warm up in the sun to make it easier to work with and install on the rim.

by:

This is our repurposed 1959 travel trailer bar. We wanted to keep as much vintage charm as possible in her revocation. These brand new tires, wheels, and baby moon caps really brought the look together! Great products! Great prices! Great customer service! I will highly recommend you guys, and will do business in the future with this company!

Thank you very much!!

by:

very happy with the wheels and tires i purchased for my trailer. fast shipping was a bonus thks Etrailer.

by:

Received order in about a week. etrailer even made price adjustment due to price drop on this tire after order date. Good fit after install. Same tire used by utility trailer mfg. —still in good shape after 11 yrs, replaced due to age of original tires.

by:

Wow. Delivery on took 24 hours. Awesome customer service

by:

Fast shipping excellent service

by:

Good prices quick delivery

by:

Was able to match same tire and wheel to existing on new trailer I purchased. With the great descriptions and photos on etrailer's website I was confidant my purchase would match and they did.

by:

by:

Good price, shipped quickly, appear to be top quality tires.

  • What Causes Tires to Wear on the Outside Edge of One Axle
If you are experiencing wear on the outer edges of the tires on the front axle of your trailer then this points to signs of the tires being under-inflated or the spindles are bent. When filling trailer tires, you need to fill them to the max psi listed on the sidewall while cold. This is going to allow for proper tread wear and for the tire to maintain the max weight capacity. If you have checked the psi of the tires and can ensure that they are filled accordingly, I would also make sure...

  • Trailer Tires with Inside Wear on Boat Trailer
There could be 2 causes of the abnormal wear on the insides of your boat trailer tires; the most common is an overloaded trailer. The other potential cause is an improperly installed or bent axle. Since this is a new axle, and it sounds like this problem has just surfaced since it was installed, I would make sure that the new axle was installed properly. Trailer axles will all have a bit of a bow to them, to compensate for the lack of adjustable camber. When installed, the bow should...

  • Troubleshooting Inside Sidewall Premature Wear on Tandem Axle Utility Trailer Tires
The axles on your trailer should not be sliding side to side enough for you to notice. There may be the slightest of side to side motion due to the various suspension components, but the majority of the motion will be up and down. If your axles are moving side to side enough that you notice then you need to get your trailer to a shop as soon as possible and get your suspension checked out. If the inside sidewall of your tires are wearing down quicker than the rest of your tires then your...

  • Is A Bent Axle Causing Uneven Tire Wear on Single Axle Boat Trailer?
Many things can cause uneven tire wear, including a bent axle, an overloaded trailer, and worn or broken suspension components. A trailer axle should be slightly arched, with the high spot in the center of the trailer and the spindles on either end being slightly lower. When the trailer is loaded the arch will flatten, placing the trailer tire treads in full contact with the road surface. A damaged axle may place the outside edge of the tires in greater contact with the road, rather than...

  • After How Many Years Should Trailer Tires Be Replaced
Even when stored in the somewhat controlled environment of a garage, tires are still subject to dry rot and flat spotting. Even if the tire tread has plenty of depth left and you can't see any cracking with the naked eye, the generally accepted rule of thumb states that trailer tires should be replaced after about 6 or 7 years. Yours are about twice that age. I'd highly recommend you replace the tires. I'd recommend going with a 205/75R-15 tires in load range C like part # TTWTRTM2057515C....

  • What Could Cause Boat Trailer Tires to Wear More on Inside Tread of Both Left and Right Tires
The most common cause for trailer tires' tread to wear more on their inside edge than their outside edge is overloading of the trailer. If a trailer axle is overloaded it's center will bend down toward the road surface and this will change its geometry, causing the inside edges of the tires to make more contact with the road surface than the outside edges. This will lead to uneven tread wear with more wear on the insides. Please see the linked diagram. An axle in good condition that is...

  • Possible Causes of Excessive Inside Edge Tire Wear on Drivers Side of 2011 Primetime Lacrosse
The first thing that I would do is to make sure that your tires are inflated to the maximum pressure listed on the sidewall. Unlike passenger vehicle tires, trailer tires need to be kept inflated to their maximum pressure at all times. Next I would check out the suspension. Broken or excessively worn suspension components can cause uneven tire wear as well. Examine the components like the leaf springs and shackle links and replace if necessary. • What is Proper Trailer Tire Inflation Pressure
A trailer tire should ALWAYS be inflated to its maximum rated psi pressure rating as shown on the tire's sidewall. At no time should you over- or under-inflate a trailer tire even if it is operated well below its rated weight capacity. • What Causes One Trailer Tire To Wear Faster Than the Others On a Tandem Axle Trailer
There are a number of issues that can cause irregular tire wear but generally this would be the tire wearing more on one side, not necessarily that the entire tire has worn faster than the others. If the latter is true then this could be an issue with the amount of air you have in each tire or the way the trailer is loaded perhaps. If you were using a different type of tire such as one with a different ply or load range then that could cause this issue as well. That said, it's rather...

  • Do 205/75D15 Bias Trailer Tires Fit The Same Wheels As Radial 205/75R15 Trailer Tires?
Yes, you can mount a ST205/75D15 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1ST92 on a wheel that had a ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # LHWL300 as long as the wheel matches the required width for that tire. Generally all the 205/75-15 tires will fit a 5"-6" wide 15" wheel but there are some manufacturers that specify some other sizes as well. If you can tell me the size of your wheel I can confirm if a certain tire we have will fit.
