This steel D-ring creates an attachment point for tie-down straps and bungee cords wherever you need cargo control. The recessed design allows you to roll cargo over the ring and is zinc-plated for corrosion resistance.

Features:

  • Tie-down provides a solid point to secure your cargo with straps or bungee cords
  • D-ring rotates 90-degrees so you can attach straps from multiple angles
  • Recessed design allows cargo to slide over the ring without interference
  • Zinc-plated steel construction resists corrosion and retains its strength through repeated use
  • Simple, bolt-on installation
    • Mounting hardware not included
    • Optional backing plate provides greater support than if the anchor was mounted alone (sold separately - BP05)

Specs:

  • Maximum load (break strength): 5,000 lbs
  • Working load limit: 1,600 lbs.
  • Anchor:
    • Bezel dimensions: 4-1/2" wide x 4-7/8" tall
    • Ring diameter: 1/2"
    • Inner ring diameter: 1-3/8"
    • Recess dimensions: 3-3/8" wide x 3/4" deep
    • Bolt hole dimensions: 3/8" wide x 3/8" tall
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Once i GOT the part, it was great. Took almost 2 weeks to ship from utah to missouri to colorado finally to arizona.

by:

Great product and everything was included in the package. Even bolts.

This is definitely the way to go if you ware strapping down a med sized load. My application was ATV's and a UTV. I decided to strap over the tires so I used these and welded hooks for my application. See my pictures for details.

If you are looking for the right tiedown, this is it in spades.

by:

Tie downs were exactly as described. Fulfilled my needs for what I was using them for.

by:

Good, solid, sunken tie down that works very well for my application. BP05 backing plate is what I picked up as well.

by:

These were received quickly. The quality is excellent. I use these as tie-downs on a new ATV trailer I purchased. Very happy with them.

All good! Thanks for asking.

by:

Just one thing to improve and it is to sell tie downs as a package with bolts and nuts and a back plate

Great only problem the hardware should include steel plates for under trailer floor

by:

Just as described. Ordered because you was only one that had backing plates. Checked all local stores first.

No problems and they work great. Thanks again.

While I had to wait for supply delay issues, they are worth it. My new ATC trailer came with 4 tie-downs and backing plates exactly like these. I have used the trailer with a car and look forward to adding these 8 additional tie-downs for motorcycles. They are of great quality and function properly.

This is an excellent product that I would but again. I started the project of installing D-rings in my utility trailer with d-rings purchased from Home Depot. The HD D-rings were the exact same product but with circular mounting holes (instead of the etrailer d-rings with square holes). The HD d-rings were a mistake. Hex bolts are really the only standard fastener that works with the circular holes. While hex bolts work they have sharp corners that catch on anything slide over them (like the heavy antique furniture I had to move for the gf). The hex bolts are also a 2 person job to install as with most installations you can't reach both the bolt and nut at the same time (2ft high sides to the trailer prevented an easy reach). The square holes allow installation with carriage bolts which were readily available at any home center in galv and SS. These have rounded heads that minimize catching/hang-ups when sliding materials over them. They also eliminate the need to hold the bolt head from rotation which keeps install to a 1 person job. Again, excellent product. I wish I didn't waste my time and $ buying the HD version the first go-around.

by:

Solid product and received order in a great time frame.

by:

The recessed trailer tie-downs are a great product. I have used them numerous times since I added them during a trailer overhaul project. Still work great!

by:

Good I would say....mounted in the wooden floor 3 1/4 in. hole + modifying to the "D" shape takes time though. 10 each were mounted to the floor perimeter 6x12 foot floor (deck), two 8 grade bolts catch the trailer metal frame, two other bolts with washers only mount to the wood deck. When secure load, most pressure is basically horizontal, I am comfortable with a load secured.

by:

one year later and it hasnt broken. I have 4 of them holding my car on a 18 foot flatbed car hauler

by:

I was expecting to get bolts, nuts and backing plates with these. What I got did not include those items.

The product description indicates that the # BP05 backing plate and hardware arent included. The reason we dont sell everything together as a kit is that the exact hardware needed and the need for the backer plate will depend entirely on the surface where the D-ring is mounted. A substantial metal surface wouldnt necessarily need a backer plate. The hardware needed can vary between a wood and a metal surface.

by:

These showed up and after looking them over seem to be the same as what my local big box store was selling, these were a better price, now to cut holes and base plates.

by:

Installation is easy. Works great

works like it should

by:

Customer service is and has been fantastic from etrailer. Each and every order has been shipped and handled with speed and acuuracy. Can't ask for any better from a company in a world of poor performers (the competition).

by:

Great tie downs for things like lawn equipment, ATV's, etc. Hole saw a hole big enough for it to fit flush and bolt on.

by:

D-Ring tie downs are of high quality and along with the RR05 backplate, it will safely hold whatever you want to secure. Shipment is fast.

by:

Product arrived as stated in my order. It will be used as a tie down in my trailer for my Race Car. Will be installed as soon as I get good weather.

by:

Just what the steel doctor ordered! These tiedowns only supplement my stakebed, but wow what a great addition.

by:

After 15 years my old floor anchors were rusting out! I redecked my trailer and installed these new flush mount anchors! Very well made and heavy duty!

by:

Very solid design and were pretty easy to install. Worked very well securing my motorcycle to the trailer.

by:

durable and well made, however the hole that needs to be cut to accept the tie-down is irregular in size and therefore a little difficult, especially if being mounted in metal

by:

Re-did floor on 40ft trailer. Do animal recuse also exotics. These will work great added a few more to tie down tiger cages. Thank you for the help and also the upgrade on shipping.

  • Is Stainless Steel Tie Down D-Anchor Needed for Install in Aluminum Bed
Hey Mark, so we don't have a stainless steel version of the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor part # RR05 but it sounds like you are worried about dissimilar metal causing corrosion so what you could do is use this but put some gardening plastic between the mounting plate and the aluminum and you'd be fine. That's what we do here when we install steel gooseneck hitches in aluminum truck bed.

  • Availability of CR Brophy D-Ring Tie-Down Without Countersunk Holes
Was it the holes themselves you weren't wanting, or the fact that they're countersunk that you don't care for? Brophy doesn't make a similar tie-down anchor without holes, but they do offer some with holes that aren't countersunk like part # RR05 with a 5K max load, or 1600 lb safe working load limit. There's also the # RR06 with a 6K max, 2000 lb safe working load limit. For a more secure installation, there's backing plates available, if you went with the # RR05, you'd use the # BP05...

  • Can Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down RR05 Be Installed on a 3/4 Inch Plywood Trailer Floor
You can mount the Trailer D-Ring tie down, # RR05, in a plywood floor but you will need to add the backing plate, # BP05, for each one for more support. The backing plate will better disperse the stress on the floor so it does not get damaged.

  • Weight Capacity Rating of Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor RR05
The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RR05 from our inventory that I checked was stamped with its 5000-lb break strength rating. The part's 1600-lb working load limit (WLL) rating is not indicated. My contact at Brophy mentioned that break strength ratings SHOULD always marked on all cargo items like tie downs but it is always possible that this stamping process could have been erroneously omitted on a specific production run. Brophy imports these items (they are not made in-house) so there...

If you are going to be carrying dirt and rocks in your trailer you really aren't going to want to put E-tracks on the floor. They'll get full of debris like you mentioned and would make shoveling out of the trailer much more frustrating. A better option would be a flush mounted tie down anchor like the aprt # RR05.

We have everything you need to equip a simple cargo trailer for carrying both scooters. To secure your vehicle on the wood deck of your 8 X 18-foot car hauler trailer I suggest you consider straps rather than chains. The Dutton-Lainson 40-inch cables you referenced are intended for use with tow bars for flat-towed vehicles. We have better options for you. Thank you for the photo of your utility trailer that appears to already have safety chains installed near the coupler. Safety chains should be selected based on trailer weight and on the length you need. If your trailer has a 3500-lb-rated axle then chains like 60-inch 5K Curt part # C19749 would provide sufficient capacity and their latching hooks will make for easy attachment. • Using a Backing Plate for D-Ring Placement on a Trailer
The backing plate BP05 will definitely make for a stronger tie down point, especially if you are not able to bolt the tie down ring to the trailer frame. If you can mount the ring through the frame at all four points, then you would not need a backing plate for installation. If you use washers and do not mount through the frame of the trailer, you must be aware that the installation will not handle as large a load, due to the reduced mounting surface.

(Working Load Limit or WLL is the maximum burden that should be put on the device in daily use.) This makes this sturdy 2-1/2-lb tie down perfect for use on a car hauler trailer.
