Comparing Brophy and etrailer D-Ring Tie Down Anchors

Question:

I have a Polaris Ranger EV UTV with a weight of about 2200 pounds. The Brophy flush D Rings appear to be heavier and what I want but choosing which is confusing: The RR05 is 1600 pounds rated and is $ The RRING-R6000 is 2000 pounds rated and is $ The pricing seems to be counter intuitive Am I missing a key feature? I do want flush mount and I want whichever one is the heaviest and best quality. I will also be purchasing the backing plate. Which product is best recommended for this heavy load?

Expert Reply:

Based solely on price and capacity the etrailer D-ring anchor part # RRING-R6000 and the Brophy part # RR05 do not make perfect sense but they are made by two different companies and sometimes we are able to get better deals on things from one company.

What I do really like more about the Brophy is the square bolt holes that allow you to use a carriage bolt that will hold itself in place when tightening whereas the etrailer has round holes and would require someone to hold a wrench to prevent the bolt from spinning when tightening. This also gives a smoother install as well.
