This steel D-ring creates an attachment point for tie-down straps and bungee cords wherever you need cargo control. The recessed design allows you to roll cargo over the ring. Zinc plating provides corrosion resistance.

Features:

  • Tie-down provides a solid point to secure your cargo with straps or bungee cords
  • D-ring pivots 90 degrees so you can attach straps from multiple angles
  • Recessed design allows cargo to slide over the ring without interference
  • Zinc-plated steel construction resists corrosion and retains its strength through repeated use
  • 1/4" Hole located underneath D-ring for drainage
  • Simple, bolt-on installation
    • Square mounting holes
    • Mounting hardware not included

Specs:

  • Maximum load (break strength): 6,000 lbs
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 2,000 lbs
  • Anchor:
    • Bezel dimensions: 4-1/2" wide x 4-7/8" tall
    • D-ring thickness: 3/8"
    • Inner ring diameter: 1-3/8"
    • Recess dimensions: 3-3/8" wide x 3/4" deep
    • Bolt hole dimensions: 3/8" wide x 3/8" long
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the etrailer.com D-Ring Recess Tie-Down Anchor. This is going to be a great feature to add to any trailer that you might have, to be able to tie down things that the factory may not have had figured in. So for example, our trailer here has four factory D-rings. But our customer has a longer side-by-side, that it kind of skips over the factory D-rings. So we installed these for him, so that he can properly tie down the slope.

Now with that recess design, you're not going to have to worry about anything interfering with your D-rings. So if you're not always using your trailer to haul any equipment, you can still use it to haul, let's say furniture for a friend. And when the D-ring is not in use, it's going to sit nice down inside this pocket.Your hole for your D-ring is going to have an inch and three eighths diameter. So there's going to be large enough to be able to easily get strap hooks on and off. These D-rings are going to have a 2000 lbs safe work load limit, and a 6,000 lbs brake string.

So it's going to give you the confidence to be able to tie down your load properly and not have to worry about it moving or shifting when you're headed down the road. It's also going to have a zinc plated design, which is going to hold up to frequent use and resist rust and corrosion if you have an in-and-outdoor application. Now, if you do have an in-and-outdoor application, something I'd like to point out, is we do have a quarter inch hole drilled here in the bottom, underneath our D-ring to get rid of any water that might pull up inside this pocket. The ring itself is going to have 90 degrees of travel so that you can get multiple different types of loads tied down. Now notice here, you can see our hex bolts. The heads of them are exposed.

We do have another option that's going to accept carriage bolts. We like that design better. We have them available here at etrailer. Now one thing to keep in mind, is that D-rings are not going to come with the hardware necessary to get them installed. But it's as simple as picking up four bolts for each D-ring. Now depending on what type of flooring that you're putting this in.

Our flooring was an inch thick, so we went with about an inch and three quarters full to get all the way through and to be able to put our nut on with our backing plate. That's another thing I would recommend using. I would recommend using a backing plate. We do have them available here at etrailer and the bolt pattern is going to match the bolt pattern on your D-ring. It's also going to have a hole cut out for it. If you have a little bit shallower floor, so this pocket can fit down through it. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's go ahead and show you how easy they are to get in place. To start our installation. We're going to need to drill a pilot hole so that we know on the underneath side, where we need to drill our holes for our backing plate. So we've got our hole marked, and now we can go underneath and measure and draw our holes for our backing plate. See our pilot hole we drilled is right here. Line up our plate. We're going to be butting our plate up against our frame rail, so that we know our plate is going to be square with a trailer. And we can take a ruler. And the best way to find the center of our center hole here, is to take a ruler, line it up with your four mount holes. You're going to put an X in the center of this hole. And then where the two lines cross, is going to be where you want to drill your pilot hole and then drill your hole. I'll take a small drill bit and drill pilot hole. Now we can take our three and a half inch hole saw and follow that same pilot hole we just drilled in the center of our lower bracket. This is what's going to make your D-ring be able to go through your floor. Now, if you don't have a second set of hands to be able to hold this plate while you drill your holes, it's a good idea to use a clamp. Slide the clamp up in place. And we'll use this to hold our bracket in place while we drill our holes. Again, you just want to align your plate up, the hole on your plate, with the hole in your floor. We will take a small drill bit and drill our pilot hole. Now once you to have your four pilot holes drilled. We went ahead and removed our clamp and put our plate down. We're going to drill our holes out to three eighths and an inch. Now we can go ahead and set our D-ring in place. Just keep in mind, you want to make sure that your ring is facing the direction that you're going to be pulling. So we'll be pulling to the rear of the vehicle. So we're going to be pulling this way. And go ahead and take our bolts. Slide them into place. It's a good idea to get a second set of hands, to kind of hold these bolts while you get your plate and your nuts in on the bottom. Once you have everything tightened down, you're ready to repeat that process for any other D-ring you're installing. With all that being said, that's going to do it for a look and installation of the etrailer.com D-Ring Tie-Down Anchor..

The website says the recess depth is 3/4", the product received is 13/16". This makes a difference when mounting over a cross member with a 3/4" plywood floor on top. Haven't drill hole yet and I'm expecting the plywood to be a little less than 3/4". The numbers add up.

Product is represented well by website, quality-made, heavy-duty fabrication, each Q6000 was consistent in dimensions and finish. Self-installation was simple if you're nimble enough get under your trailer and move about in limited space. Four were installed in trailer to improve ease of anchoring antique car, actual use of Q6000 is delayed until antique cars shows resume scheduled events.
In photo, two new Q6000's are shown above the trailer's existing anchor points. New anchor points are removed from underneath the antique car's front axle. New rear anchor points were necessary closer to the rear axle (rehabilitation of old trailer).

Not much hauling in the past year, but one trip to Colorado to purchase a 5,000 lb. antique luxury car. The Q6000s were put to the test during an emergency stop while coming down the Rockies into Denver. No surprises, they held just fine.

  • Tie Down Solution for Corvette on Open Car Hauler
This question is refined by several decisions. What will you use for tie down points on the Corvette? What will you use for tie down points on the trailer? How easy do you want it to be. Finally, what looks good. If you are OK with climbing under your car each time to hook into the car and then connect to the edge of the trailer, you can simply use the QuickLoader # Q64FR ratchet straps. You will need to consult your Owner's Manual or Manufacturer for appropriate tie down locations...

  • Do the Brophy Swiveling D-Rings Have Weep Holes
I have another solution but the Brophy Swiveling D-Ring Anchors part # RR6K-4 do not have weep holes designed into them. I agree that they are a great idea and should have them. I have installed these in the past and drilled my own holes to ensure proper drainage I then touched up the holes with clear spray paint to help keep rust away. The other option which does have weep holes to drain water and has the same capacity but you lose the Swiveling aspect is the etrailer D-Ring Tie Down...

  • Which Backing Plate Is Used with the etrailer D-Ring Tie Down Anchor RRING-Q6000?
For the etrailer D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RRING-Q6000 you will need to use the Backing Plate # BP05. This will increase surface area for the bolts used to attach the anchor to your floor giving it additional support. I included a video of the # RRING-Q6000 being installed for you to take a look at.

  • Recommended D-Ring Tie-Down Anchor For With An Endless Loop
For a tie down D-Ring that doesn't have a weld to fail like your current tie-down you'd have to transition to a different design like the etrailer D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RRING-Q6000. The options we have with the same design that you currently have unfortunately don't come with an endless loop so you'd have to switch to a different design. It has a maximum load (break strength) of 6,000lbs and safe working load limit (WLL) of 2,000lbs. I've attached a diagram of its dimensions below as...
