I was able to install the hitch and wiring harness easily. The hitch came with the bolts and washers that were needed. I was even able to order the cleaning brush. They had how videos that really were helpful, watch a couple minutes and go to work. I really think etrailer is the best!
I couldn't be more happy with the ordering, shipping, and installation.

Its been a year and my trailer hitch works great I used a lot more than I thought I would. I would definitely recommend etrailer.com to my friends and family I see myself probably three to four hundred dollars doing it myself and only took me a couple hours

Installed this hitch on a 2006 Honda Pilot in about 40 minutes. Fit was beautiful. Nice product.
Here's a helpful hint for cleaning corroded weld nuts. Get a 1/2 " fitting brush from the plumbing dept of your local hardware store. Cut the handle off and place the brush in your cordless drill. Same principal as the battery terminal brush only much faster and easier.
I cleaned the six M12 holes first then went to the two M10 holes. Total thread cleaning time was less than ten minutes for 8 holes. All bolts spun in with my fingers when I was finished. Good luck!

This will be a rather long review since I am combining the entire purchase in this one review. To start I am a 60+ yr. old female & not mechanically inclined but after getting an estimate of over $900. 00 from the local Honda dealer to install a receiver & the electrical wiring so that I could tow a small trailer I decided to shop around. I wasn't even sure of what all I would need or what the parts were called except for the ball. I visited a few websites & sent a few emails to inquire. Etrailer was the first to respond to my questions & provided links so I went back to their site. After viewing a video on the different receivers that would fit my Honda Pilot I favored the Curt receiver. That was my starting point & I moved on to the next item I would need which was the hitch. I never knew there were so many possibilities & I didn't have a clue what the rise & drop was all about so I sent another email. Within a matter of hours I'd gotten a response from a fellow named Jon G. He was just the hook-up I needed!! The links he provided answered all of questions I had & gave me the education I needed. (I was still waiting for responses from the other websites I'd sent inquiries to.) I was certain at this point that I would make my purchase with etrailer.com & proceeded filling up my shopping cart with the Curt receiver, the Curt ball mount, the chrome hitch ball, the electrical wiring & an anti-rattle hitch pin. Before I paid for the items I asked Jon G. for 1 more favor. Would he kindly view the items in my cart to make sure I had matched the items up so that each would fit correctly with the other. He did & I made the purchase. Within a few days the order arrived & I was confident enough after watching the installation video & reading other reviews that I could install everything myself. I used the lift in a friend's garage & enlisted the help of a female friend. She held the receiver up on one end while I was at the other installing the bolts. Then it was her turn. Together we had the receiver installed in less than 30 minutes. It was so easy!! Next, we installed the wiring That took close to an hour. Mainly because we were trying to be so careful when pulling back the rubber & popping out the panel clips but we got 'er done & did a beautiful job of it, if I may say so myself. All in all, it took almost 2 hours to complete but that includes disposing of cardboard boxes, putting away the tools, lowering the S-L-O-W lift & backing the vehicle out of the garage. etrailer is #1 in Customer Service & Satisfaction, Product Variety & Quality & Anything that You want to Hitch. Well, almost anything.....you can't hitch your kid....or, your dog....er, dogs. Thanks again, etrailer. You guys are BOSS!!!

Its really very sturdy, needed another hand for installing. I installed it on a 2005 Honda Pilot, so needed to remove tow hook on rear driver side to install hitch. I had issues with rusted weld nut on passenger side, one is completely moved out, other two had no threads. I had to order the CURT 18-Inch Trailer Hitch Fish Wire for 1/2-Inch, to install the bolt from top and used a nut from bottom. Where the threads are completely gone, used a Irwin 12-1 25 mm bottom tap to rethread and was able install the bolts.
Primarily using this hitch to carry a 2-bike rack. Used it for a 20 mile round trip so far, everything looks great, no wobbling. Also bought a Rola 2 bike rack from etrailer.

by:
2003 Honda Pilot

After owning my 2003 Pilot for 12+ years and 250,000 miles, decided to add a hitch so I could use a bike rack. Instructions were exact and fits perfectly. Took maybe 30 min total from unpacking to tightening last bolt, and that was only because I had to clean 2 of the holes out.

by:
Acura MDX

This trailer hitch fit perfectly on my Acura MDX. Installation took me about an hour and half, mainly due to the fact I was not using a lift and lying on my back to do the install. I would definitley suggest having an extra person help with the installation. It would have been difficult if not impossible to hold the hitch in place while and bolt it on at the same time. Video instructions on etrailer made all the difference. The videos notified me of potential issues I might have during the install so that I was prepared for these and they didn't hinder the installation.

Shipping was free and extremely fast (ordered on a Wednesday and arrived the next day).

I highly recommend this hitch and etrailer.com.

2015 Honda Pilot

I ordered a trailer hitch for my 2004 Honda pilot. It came in less then a week good packing. I watch the video on how to install this helped a lot. I installed it in about 20 minutes it fit perfect and all the right bolts. In the video it shows to clean the threads with a wire brush.
Mine wear full of rust this took me about 40 minutes to clean. I also got the wire harness for the hitch this fit great to about 15 minutes to install. All in all this was a great experience. I would highly recommend this company. I ordered all parts online this was easy to navigate all parts needed.

I would definitely recommend this product, and etrailer.com - they are fast, and very responsive. I'm a tracking geek when it comes to ordering stuff online, and you know right away that they got the order, and when it ships, then the online tracking info shows you on a map exactly where it is. But on to the product! First, the videos on this site, and customer feedback, not to mention good prices and free shipping (over $150) were driving forces in making this purchase from etrailer. I was not disappointed. The shipping was quick (I did pay a few dollars extra for 3-5 days shipping, but only because we're going away in 5 days, and wanted to make sure we had it on time - but I would imagine it would have still gotten here quickly with regular shipping). Just like the video, installing this was a snap. I borrowed a torque wrench from a friend and cleaned out the bolt holes with a wire brush the night before, and the next morning installed the hitch receiver in about 30 minutes. Definitely easier with 2 people - my son help up one side while I put a bolt in the other side, then I was good to go.

Only complaint (minor) is that there should have been extra cardboard support between the part in the center that sticks up and attaches to the bumper. It broke through the box during delivery. I was not damaged, but could have been. The actual hitch connector, although it was wrapped, probably could have had more padding, as there was a chip in the paint on the bottom... I can touch it up, so I'm not too concerned about it.

The hitch is very low profile - others I have seen are larger and more obvious. This one is barely visible below the bumper, other than where you need to connect to.

2004 Honda Pilot

After making prior purchases from etrailer.com, I was certain I was making a great decision to add a tow-hitch to my 2004 Honda Pilot. After ensuring the correct fit, etrailer.com excelled in providing installation instructions that (even a novice installer) can walk through with ease. Overall, the installation took roughly 45-minutes, thanks to the video installation walk-throughs via etrailer.com. One more reason etrailer.com surpasses the competition.

The box arrived with a huge hole so I was concerned. Once opened and inspected everything looked fine. The instructions were very helpful and I installed the hitch in about 45 minutes. The hitch is mostly concealed and looks great. I can’t wait to use it. I would highly recommend etrailer and the Curt product.

2004 Honda Pilot

This product arrived at about 2:00 pm yesterday. I got home at 2:45 and by 3:45, the hitch was torqued to the clear specs provided in the instructions. I think it looks GREAT! Every time I pass the rear of my vehicle, I have to admire how almost invisible it is. Very easy to install if you have someone to help hold it while you start the first two bolts. This hitch will be used to tow my BBQ trailer to my events. I couldn't be happier.

2004 Honda Pilot

Fits on my 2004 Honda Pilot like it was factory! Installation was easy after using a wire brush attached to my cordless drill to clean out the threads before trying the bolts. Even with a recently broken wrist, I was able to install it using hand tools with the help of my lovely wife in under an hour from start to clean up! The only thing I will note is the center bracket bolts were more difficult to tighten compared to the side brackets but they eventually tightened down to torque. I will also note that I didn't have to drop my exhaust. If you are careful (and use a cloth to cover the end of your muffler) you can maneuver the hitch into place without moving the exhaust. Keep in mind, however, that you will need someone to tighten the bolts on one side or at least hold one side while you tighten the other.

A year and a half later and its still going strong!

by:
2005 Honda Pilot

I received my hitch receiver in 3 days - which is amazing. It was a Curt hitch and this is the 5th one I've installed in the past couple of years. They are absolutely simple to install! The hitch fit perfectly on my wife's Honda Pilot and looks good too. We can now use her car to tow a boat or snowmobile trailer occasionally and will primarily use it with a cargo carrier and motorcycle rack. You can't beat E-Trailer for service or price. They're great!

Perfect fit, easily installed, and looks great! All the right parts were included, and the instructions were a great help.

Easy install. No need to be a pro. I called a local shop to install a hitch. Just labor alone was over $200. Why pay that much when all you need to know how to do is turn a wrench. If you can turn a wrench you can put a bolt in the screw hole. That's as simple as it was to install this hitch. No need to lower your exhaust. Only thing I didn't have was a torque wrench. So I went down to my local tire center and torqued down the nuts. One suggestion is to make sure the holes are clean and you don't even need to remove the spare tire completely. Just loosen it enough to move it out of the way. Love how low profile it looks on my pilot. No bulkiness here. But don't underestimate the looks. This thing is built to last. I dont tow any huge boats or trailers but I do have the capability now. Awesome price and easy to install yourself. Worth it!

Still going strong. Minimal wear and tear. Not much of the hitch is exposed, only the female part shows. Great product.

  • Hardware for Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13328 to fit a 2005 Honda Pilot
Yes, all of our hitches come with the necessary mounting hardware. This Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part #13328, also requires a 17mm short socket, a 19mm socket, a 4-inch extension, a ratchet and a torque wrench for the installation.

  • Recommended Class III Receiver for 2001 Acura MDX
All three Class III hitches are very similar in design, weight capacity and in the way that they would install, with the exception of the CURT Class III receiver, part # 13328. The CURT Class III has an extra mounting flange that attaches to the rear of the bumper structure. In my opinion, the greater the number of attachment points to the vehicle, the better. I don't have that exact measurement handy, but I was able to figure it out for you. The drop measurement (distance from the underside of the frame member to the top of the receiver tube) is right at 3 inches. This measurement on the Draw-Tite # 75599 is just a little bit less at 2-1/2 inches. This means that the inside top of the Curt # 13328 would sit at about 16-1/2 inches above the ground, versus 17 inches for the Draw-Tite. I've linked you to the install instructions for each hitch.
