According to my contact at Brophy, their # RR05 Trailer D-Ring Tie Down has a working load limit of 1600-lbs and a break strength of 5,000-lbs. (Working Load Limit or WLL is the maximum burden that should be put on the device in daily use.) This makes this sturdy 2-1/2-lb tie down perfect for use on a car hauler trailer.

In a typical trailer configuration with four or more of these tie downs being used at the same time you will have at least 20,000-lbs of capacity for securing the loaded vehicle. We always recommend having a safety margin in any application and for typical passenger car weights a set of four of these will give you plenty of extra capacity.

For extra strength you can use backing plate # BP05. If you prefer we also offer the D-ring with the backing plate and hardware as a kit, part # RR5K.
