Haven't used it yet. I bought it because of CURT's quality. It was beat up in shipping though.

Its doing the JOB.

by:

This 13" drawbar keeps the tailgate off the trailer jack.
Being that long also keeps it I storage immediately after I disconnect the trailer.
No need for a locking pin.

by:

These are perfect for newer trucks with taller tailgates

by:

Exactly what I needed to extend the reach of the ball beyond my rear tire carrier WITHOUT losing any tongue weight capacity! I used mine for the 2" rise.

by:

Not usually a fan of any extra length between the truck and trailer, I opted for this extended ball mount so I could drop the tailgate without hitting the trailer jack. This did the trick. But this not a mount you should leave on your truck after detaching the trailer! Ouch!

by:

Exactly what I needed to move trailer away from spare tire

by:

It's perfect for my Jeep Wrangler it gets the ball past the spare tire.

by:

Measured the drop to keep the trailer horizontal, and length for tailgate clearance. This hitch works great!

by:

Each item was as described and installation a snap. Light are at least twice as bright as originals. The right-angle wiring pigtail made the project much easier.

Really appreciate the extensive information on each product and the follow up is a nice touch.

by:

The ball mount is not welded square to the tube
This is the second one sent took 4 months to get a refund on the first one.
The first one lasted one long trip before bending
Quality control is lacking on this product line.

by:

Great product and excellent service with on time delivery!

by:

Great product, they were very quick filling my order. Everyone kept me informed how the order was processing and the delivery date.

by:

Quality mount. I needed a longer mount for my golf cart and this will work great.

by:

For a 7,500 lb hitch, I was surprised it didn’t have a wedge support welded on where the flat iron is welded to the square tube.

by:

Product is per specs. Attached is why I needed and how it helped me attach the mud flaps and still be able to plug in my 7 pin. I was really happy that I didn’t have to pay two day shipping, and it still arrived in that amount of time just like it said it would.

by:

I got everything on time and it’s working good and also high quality

by:

I have traveled across the US towing an overloaded Uhaul 12' trailer.
The trailer was still behind me when I arrived, so the hitch functioned as promised.
I did not, however, require the extra long hitch as suggested for my particular vehicle, but it will serve as an extra. Unnecessary purchase.

My son has since purchased a hitch from etrailer for his new Ford Edge.
We're both happy - very robust and well engineered product(s)

Excellent. Now mostly serves as an intimidation factor for those who would tailgate me...

by:

Product is exactly what was expected. But what is really 5-Star is this company's actions after the order is submitted. The website allows the customer to follow the timeline of the item from the order being placed to being pulled to being shipped to having a tracking number.... and in an extremely quick manner! Will shop here again.

by:

I needed a hitch with a long shank because of my spare tire being mounted on the back of my Jeep. This one does the trick!

Works as intended. Very pleased.

by:

Works great on my lifted jeep, with a s pare!

by:

The etrailer Curt Hidden Hitch was almost $200 less expensive than the suburu dealer, without installation. Thank you etrailer your suburu install video was fantastic. Very apprehensive about removing the entire rear bumper panel on my new outback; but had my laptop open in the back of the suv,and installed like clockwork. Hidden hitch has no unsightly drop bars hanging
Below the bumper. Unbelievable price, looks and
Tows great, and saved well over $350 installing
Myself. Suby looks great, and friends are amazed I
would tackle this job myself...This is my 2nd hitch
from etrailer, and I like the efficiency, and detail of your website. HATS OFF to you etrailer. Satisfied customer...

by:

Works exactly as expected! My Subaru Outback bumper did not allow for a "normal" length drawbar, so this longer one was the only way I could tow anything.

Still works great a year later!

by:

Excellent product and service.
Bought
this long heavy duty ball mount so I can open my tail gate with a trailer still hitched up.
All the online measurements and information made it much easier to choose the correct mount.
Works great!

by:

Great product! I’ve had mine for about a year and I use it to pull my 3800 lb bass boat all over Michigan. I actually had to buy this extended hitch, because all the gm products have the hitches tucked further under the bumper. Which when I use my mudflaps that hook onto the hitch, they would always hit the bumper. Great product.

by:

Great product. Fast shipping reliable s ervice.

  • How to Extend Trailer Hitch So I Can Tow 2017 Rockwood Tent Trailer with Tailgate Down
I do have some options for you however, the Blue Ox Hitch Extender for Tow Bars # BX88264 is only to be used for flat towing a vehicle, not for towing a trailer. Instead, the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST18 can be used to tow, will extend 18 inches, and has a GTW of 3,500 lbs. Another solution is to go with an extra long ball mount like the Curt # C45270 which is 13 inches long. It's rated for 7500 lbs. GTW and 750 lbs. TW which is still enough for your Rockwood.

  • Necessary Ball Mount Length to Use Swagman S64664 Traveler XCS Bike Rack
As the sleeve on the bottom of the upright is 3 inches long, you'll want to choose a 'long' ball mount with the proper rise/drop, such as # C45270 so you can pull the tow dolly so the tongue is level. I've linked to our selection of ball mounts with the long shank, as well as to a help article that shows how to measure to determine the rise or drop ball mount you'll need.

  • Extended Hitch to Tow 2,000 Pound Trailer
The # BX88264 hitch extender is for flat towing or carrying hitch accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Instead, the Curt Hitch Extender # C45795 can be used for towing. It's 14 inches long. However, when using any hitch extender, you will reduce your hitch's tongue weight by 50 percent. You will need to make sure you are staying under this capacity. For another option that won't impact your tongue weight, the Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45270 is 13 inches long. It provides...

  • Trailer Hitch Extended Ball Mount For F-250 Towing Lance Camper With 24-Inch Overhang
The problem with using an extension on a trailer hitch is that adapters will reduce the towing and tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. You can find ball mounts that are extended and do not reduce the capacity. We do offer extended ball mounts like part # C45270 that I recommend, and may work for you. This ball mount has a 2-inch rise or a 4-inch drop and measures 13-inches center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch ball hole. This ball mount has a 7,500-lb capacity....

You are absolutely right that you need a ball mount with a 2 inch rise since your coupler is 2 inches above the top of your hitch receiver. The Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270 is a great option that fits in a 2" hitch and you can use either Pin and Clip # C21500 or Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 to secure it to your hitch. For a hitch ball, depending on your trailer's coupler you will need 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40017 or 2" Hitch Ball # 40038. In regards to Mounting Bracket # 18144...

We definitely have a couple options available for your situation. The first will be a longer ball mount. This is also 13 inches long when measured from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole. • Longer Ball Mount for 2019 GMC Acadia so Liftgate Clears Trailer
How much more clearance is needed? A standard ball mount usually measures between 8 and 9 inches long, measured from the hitch pin hole to the hole where the ball is installed. There are some longer fixed mounts available, the Curt # C45270 is 13 inches long which would provide 4 to 5 more inches than what you likely have now. Your number one priority with picking out a ball mount needs to be going with one that allows the trailer to tow as level as possible. Since your trailer requires a 3.5 inch drop to tow level your best option is a longer ball mount that has a drop figured closer to what you need than the two options you mentioned. The best option for that is the Curt ball mount part # C45270 which provides 4 inches of drop and is 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball...

  • Towing Trailer that Requires 4 inch Drop and Carrying Bike Rack Recommendation
Your calculations are correct, you would need a 4 inch drop ball mount so that your trailer could be towed level. The # D210 has a drop of 2-1/4 inches so it would make your trailer a bit nose high. Since you want to carry bikes and tow your trailer a better option would be a ball mount with a 4 inch drop like part # C45270 and then a towing bike rack like part # S64664 that attaches to the shank of the ball mount.

A rack like this is suitable as long as you have plenty of turning clearance between the vehicle and trailer. The width of your bikes come into play here too. • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis W/ Dual Exhaust
The Class III rating on a trailer hitch receiver means it has a 2" receiver and has a higher tongue weight and trailer weight rating than a Class I or II hitch. Class III hitches are what we typically recommend if they are available for the specific vehicle as the 2" receiver offers the most options for accessories like a bike rack, cargo carrier, or ball mount, and the increased tongue weight and trailer weight ratings are ideal for knowing the receiver on your vehicle is plenty strong...

  • Option for Adding Length Between Tow Vehicle and Trailer
You didn't say how much more length you'd need to let your tailgate open but we have the Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270 which is 13 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole to center of the pin hole. This is most likely longer than what you have. The problem with hitch extenders is that they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by quite a bit and most wouldn't have the capacity needed for a travel trailer your size.
