Extended Hitch to Tow 2,000 Pound Trailer
Question:
I am looking for some type of hitch extender that I can tow with. I have a 2000lb trailer that I tow everyday. I carry a generator on the tongue so I dont think I can get the swaypro lead arm adapters on the tongue due to generator. Im looking for about 14in but the 14in extender doesnt appear to be made for my kind of towing bumpy. Any suggestions, thanks.

The # BX88264 hitch extender is for flat towing or carrying hitch accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Instead, the Curt Hitch Extender # C45795 can be used for towing. It's 14 inches long. However, when using any hitch extender, you will reduce your hitch's tongue weight by 50 percent. You will need to make sure you are staying under this capacity.
For another option that won't impact your tongue weight, the Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45270 is 13 inches long. It provides a rise of 2 inches or a drop of 4 inches so you'll need to make sure this is appropriate for your trailer.
If you need a hitch ball to fit the ball mount, # 40038 is a 2 inch ball or # C40017 is a 1-7/8 inches ball. Both have a 1 inch diameter shank.
