This is the first time I have purchased a hitch receiver shank or ball mount made of aluminum, I noticed that it is much lighter than my original steal one.
The item was delivered a day earlier of the scheduled date. Thanks for the quick service.

Overall the product looks good, fair pricing, average delivery. I am a little disappointed with how loosely it fits into my receiver. My truck is a brand new 2018 GMC Sierra. You can wiggle the hitch quite a bit, I hope this problem will not be too noisy. It can only get worse with time and wear, especially since it is Aluminum. I saw this complaint on some other reviews. The product needs to be made a little larger. You can always take material off easier than you can add material.

Robert, Thank you for your review. Some of the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500s have a factory 2-1/2 inch. This brophy ball mount part # EA40 is designed for a 2 hitch. If you have a 2-1/2 hitch the closest ball mount we have to the rise, and length that is needed is part # 45123. This Reese ball mount has 3-1/2 inch rise, 5 inch and is 16- 1/2 inches long. It is rated at 13,000 lbs. If you are not sure what size factory hitch you have I have attached a link to help you measure. If it turns out you do have a 2 inch hitch, I would recommend an anti-rattle such as part BX88224. The blue ox immobilizer will tighten up the connection between the ball mount and hitch receiver to help quiet the rattle.

by:

Great hitch, light, strong and still looks like new after a years use.

by:

These two items are the best when using them in the Gulf Coast area. Salt water, and the air rust items of this kind very fast. Aluminum and Stainless Steel are a good combo in salty areas.

This is an outstanding hitch mount. I have purchase additional mounts for my other vehicles.

Hitch head and Etrailer service both exceeded my expectations. Product looks great and was delivered ahead of schedule. Nice to deal with a company that understands the importance of customer service.

Still very pleased with this hitch. Some lengths of these heads are hard to find and this was exactly what I needed.

by:

I just received this receiver hitch today & have not used it. I have been using the same typ but in a 1" rise for a year or so & I like it's light weight but I needed a bit more rise. so this 3' rise model should work even better for me.

Great!

by:

I ordered the first time on the website, and after I didn't receive it for some time, I called and was told it is on back order. Had I known that 2 weeks earlier, would have helped. So reordered on the phone, and received it when promised. Unfortunately the shipper packed a steel ball in the same box with an aluminum hitch, and no padding around the ball. The hitch got pretty well beat up.

I ordered a Brophy Ball Mount after careful consideration to what I needed. A good description really helped a lot in that process. The ball mount arrived sooner then expected and suits my needs perfectly. The price was good and the service was good. A very good product, good price and good service. I have also bought other products from them and always been happy.

by:

It does what it is supposed to do, but the fit is sloppy. It has significantly more hitch rattle than other draw bars I own.

by:

Has kept its shine quite well. Recomend for a great looking hitch!

by:

Excellent hitch, I like it because it doesn’t rust, hitch still looks new.

by:

This is a very nicely made product, but when I used it on my factory 2015 Chevrolet Silverado hitch, it rattled and I had to remove it and return.

by:

so far so good. One year later.

by:

Great product - FAST delivery - just what I needed to work in both front and rear hitch

by:

Fit my 2018 Subaru Outback perfectly in either the drop or rise position.
I am impressed on how light weight it is.

This stinger fits perfectly with my boat trailer and pickup. Having a bad back, the reduced weight is very helpful when removing and installing my Rock Tamer mud flaps. Shawnee was a huge help in determining what would work best for my application!!!

  • Will This # E-3S Fit a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500
Part E-3S has an 8-3/4inch, center to center, span between mounting holes. Check your bumper to see if it has two holes that are 8-3/4 inches apart. If so, then this hitch will fit on your truck. • Using a Hitch Extender to Keep Tailpipe Out of the Water when Launching a Boat
If your tow vehicle has a 2-1/2 inch hitch opening then Curt extension # C45048 is a great option to give you more length between the vehicle and trailer so you won't have to dunk your tail pipe in the water. If your vehicle does not have a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver then this extension will not work. If you have a 2 inch hitch I recommend going with a longer ball mount instead of a hitch extender. On a 1-1/4 or 2 inch hitch a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the...

  • Choosing the Correct Aluminum Hitch Ball For 2004 Ford Ranger
The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13138 is certainly the hitch I recommend for your 2004 Ford Ranger so that the spare tire can remain stored under the vehicle. To choose the correct ball mount for your truck and trailer, it is best to measure from the top inside of the hitch receiver to the ground and from the bottom of the coupler lip to the ground. The difference in these measurements will tell us what rise or drop we need in a ball mount. Since you don't have the hitch...

  • Solutions to Allow Tailgate to Fold Down on Truck Without Hitting Trailer Jack
One of the easiest way to gain clearance to allow for a tailgate to fold down without hitting the trailer jack is to go with a longer ball mount as that adds distance between the rear of the truck and where the jack will be. For example, the Ball Mount part # EA40 has a distance of 14-5/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the ball hole. Otherwise, when the Ultimate jack part # 322-RDJ-2K is in the lowest position it only sits 1-3/4 inches above the mounting bracket.

  • Towing a Small Trailer and Carrying Bike Rack with 2 Bikes
We have a ball mount bike rack, # S64664 that goes over the ball mount and can carry 2 bikes. You may need to use an extended ball mount like # EA40 to mount this carrier if you do not have at least 3 inches of clearance between your hitch opening and the nearest point on the ball mount (see parts below). We also have a specialty ball mount, # D210 that allows a bike carrier to be mounted above the ball and carry bikes while towing.

  • Will Using a Hitch Extender and Ball Mount Decrease the Capacity of a Trailer Hitch
If the trailer hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds and you use any kind of adapter or extender it reduces the tongue weight capacity by 50 percent so you would be down to 250 pounds. If you then add a ball mount in the extender it would drop it even more so you would likely be under 200 pounds tongue weight capacity. The use of extenders and then a ball mount would put a ton of leverage on the receiver causing damage to it and the vehicle. Using a longer ball mount such as...

  • Can Two Hitch Extenders Be Used to Create More Clearance
While I do have a potential solution for you, I do not recommend adding another extender adapter to your existing Tow Ready Hitch Extender # HE18. This is just going to create way too much instability and it could lead to damage because of the additional leverage it creates, even for short-term applications like what you need it for. While it's still going to create more leverage since it's extending the load out further from the bumper, a better option is to use your current extender...

It fits around a ball mount shank. A couple of things to note about this method are the ball mount length and the tongue weight. • Do Longer Hitch Extenders Reduce Hitch Capacity
There isn't a 100% direct mathematical relationship I'm aware of but yes, the further rearward you go from the hitch receiver, the lower the tongue weight capacity gets. Which is why extenders typically will reduce a trailer hitch's capacity by at least half or more. The same doesn't hold true for a longer ball mount, because it's a single piece and not an add-on like an extender. I'm assuming you have a 2 inch class III receiver on your 2012 Outback.
