I wanted to ask in what way did the ball mount not work for you. Did you need a greater rise or drop?

by:

Sturdy and feels strong / heavy. Love it, except for the part when I forget it is behind the van and run into it :)) Not pleasant.
Easy to install and the drop is just right for my trailer. Before I used to have to raise the tongue all the way to the top of the jack, now it feels like it is just there. The trailer seems to be well balanced now.

Outstanding customer service!

by:

I received my Oder in two days! Wow that was quick!

Sorry I took the picture before tightening the ball and installation

After balking at the cost to have an auto-shop add a trailer to our Toyota Highlander, we found etrailer.com and decided to take a chance. The "how to" videos factored considerably in our decision to buy ... they made it look so easy! And surprise! It really -WAS- that easy. We used standard block-type ramps (the kind you can buy for $40 ) to get the SUV up off the ground high enough to get underneath to do the work. Everything came off as easy as it was showed in the videos. Other than the fact this bar is a heavy so we had our teen daughter help hold it steady while we bolted it into place (i.e., get help for when you go to lift it), it went super smooth. Thanks for saving us $280 over the cost the car dealer quoted us! P.S. - be sure to watch the linked videos so you get the right trailer lighting attachment and ball hitch for your new hitch.

We are very happy with our trailer hitch, and all the accoutrements that we purchased with it. Your videos were enormously helpful, the hitch went on easily with a bit of help from our teenage daughter to lift it up into place, and we recommend your business to friends when they express an interest in getting a camper.

by:

We bought this ball-hitch accessory to go with our new trailer hitch. The linked videos were super-helpful to figure out the proper hitch for our pop-up camper vs. our small utility trailer (height is important).

The hitch kit components I purchased are serving me well: excellent quality and pricing was lower than other companies I researched. However, the real value for me was etrailer's technical support prior to placing my order. I didn't know exactly what components I needed to adapt my vehicle's existing hitch kit to support a used trailer I purchased and etrailer figured that all out for me.

by:

Good quality products packaged very well for shipping. Arrived in great shape.
Would have been a fantastic order except for the following:
Ordered this 10k, 4" drop ballmount as well as a 12k, 2" ball to go with it. Problem is, the 10k ballmount has a 1 1/4" hole and the 12k ball has a 1" shank. Therefore, I need a 1 1/4" x 1" bushing for proper installation. Being a trailer company, you would think that a red flag would appear indicating the discrepancy during ordering, or better yet, just throw a bushing in with the order! A $2 part and to get it from etrailer I would NOW have to pay shipping for it! My total order was for $120 and I got free shipping.
Always room for improvement.

The ball mount connects my 4x4 Ford Van to my Keystone Zeppelin 271 travel trailer. I needed a mount with a 3" drop and 10,000 lbs capacity, which this unit supports. It works as expected and needed.

by:

We were very satisfied with the trailer hitch and ball we ordered for our daughter and son-in-law. The correspondence we received from the people at etrailer.com was wonderful and over and above what we have come to expect from vendors. We were in retail for 20 years and enjoyed being treated like we treated our customers, it doesn’t happen much these days. Thank you!

by:

The Draw-Tite ball mount is top quality, but my experience with eTrailer was even better. The product pricing, including shipping, was better than I could get locally. The customer service is absolutely the best. "George" was in touch with me electronically from start to finish and shipped my hitch with a higher priority so that I received it much sooner than I expected.

by:

This is exactly what we needed. We needed a long shaft to use with the mud flaps. The quality is very good. I am very impressed with etrailer as I place my order in the afternoon thinking it wouldn't be processed until the next day. They processed my order that evening and I got my hitch within 2 days.

by:

I have bought a higher truck so it hasn't been used in the last three months, but when it was in use it performed as it should and was of good quality. The paint was of high quality and didn't chip. It was a snug fit so it didn't flop or rattle in the receiver.

by:

Extra long hitch fits snug in the receiver. Much less rattle than the short hitches. Great selection. Delivered ahead of schedule. Another great experience from the team at eTrailer.

by:

Very good, heavy duty, works well with my tow guard/protector.

by:

I was in need of a special length ball mount for my new 350 Ford to keep my tailgate from hitting every time I lowered it. After talking with Erica she was able to find just what I needed. I will use etrailer for all my truck and trailer needs.

by:

A nice heavy duty ball mount. The finish is good quality and should last for years.

by:

etrailer was the only place I could find one with correct rise for what I needed and it's attached to my truck all the time busting shins and occasionally pulling my trailer.

by:

The reciever was what I ordered, it was shipped very quickly.

by:

This looks like the product I was expecting to receive. Heavy duty. Have not used it yet but I look forward to towing it behind my super C rv.

by:

Great prices and selection. Customer service had excellent communication who were fast and helpful.

by:

Missed the fact that you have to order pin separately, seems silly not to package them together, have to have a pin. 5/8" btw.

by:

High quality product and seller

by:

Always great products and service. Lots of options to choose from.

by:

Great product at a great price and delivered in a few days.
Thank You

  • Parts Needed to Tow 30-Foot/6500-lb Trailer with 2010 Ford F-150
First you'll want to check your Ford owner's manual to confirm your particular truck, with its specific mix of cab style, engine, transmission and suspension components, has the required towing capacity for your 6500-lb trailer. If you cannot verify this in the manual your local dealership can look up the truck's VIN to confirm its tow rating. I checked the online manual for the 2010 F-150 and on pages 256-258 the towing capacities of the different configurations are listed. Trailer weight...

  • Trailer Hitch, Ball Mount, Ball, Wiring, and Brake Controller for a 2012 Nissan NV
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75715, does not come with any additional accessories. To complete the towing set up, you will need a ball mount, a ball, a pin and clip, and trailer wiring. To activate electric brakes on a trailer you would need to add a brake controller and 7-Way trailer connector. If the trailer has surge brakes then the brakes will activate when the vehicle brakes with no additional parts needed. For a ball mount, you can use # 40202, and for a pin and clip use # PC3....

  • How to Choose the Correct Ball Mount for a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with Factory Trailer Hitch
It looks like the 2006 Lincoln navigator came with a factory 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. This means that you can use any ball mount for a Class III hitch that has the correct rise or drop to tow the trailer level. You will need to take some measurements to determine what rise or drop you will need. I have included a link to our FAQ that explains how to measure. Having about 4 inches of a ball mount that is 8 inches long inside the actual receiver of the hitch is not a problem provided...

  • Excessive Noise From Weight Distribution System With Sway Control
For your weight distribution system, I would recommend the Curt Weight Distribution Shank, part # 17120. This shank fits 2 inch receivers and allows you to make adjustments from a maximum 5-5/8 inch drop to a maximum 8-7/8 inch rise. Concerning the noise on your system. You will experience some noise with a friction sway control system. If you feel it is excessive, it could be caused from the sway control being too tight. The handle will only turn the sway control on or off, and should...

  • Recommended Ball Mount with 4 Inch Drop and 10,000 Pound Towing Capacity
The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2-5/16 Inch Ball # C45042 referenced in your question has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. For a ball mount that will provide the same 4 inch drop and give you a 10,000 pound capacity, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 40202. This sturdy steel ball mount is compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers and also features a tongue weight of 1,000 pounds. You will just need to add a compatible 2-5/16 inch hitch ball like # 19286. I have attached a short...

  • Does the Curt Trailer Hitch #C14002 Allow the Spare Tire to Function on 2011 Ford F-150
After confirming with Curt, their Class IV 2 inch trailer receiver # C14002 does not interfere with the accessibility of the spare tire. However, they do recommend removing the spare tire for the installation process, and then replacing once installation is complete. Please note that this hitch does not include a ball mount, trailer ball, pin and clip, or wiring. Depending on your exact towing needs I would suggest the following parts that are compatible with your 2011 Ford F-150: ...

  • Ball Mount Recommendations for a 2012 Ford Expedition Towing a Pontoon Boat or Seadoo Trailer
You have a couple of options. First, you can buy two ball mounts, one with the correct rise for the pontoon boat and one for the Seadoo trailer. Or, you can get one ball mount that use a 2-1/2 inch rise, # AMSC2HD, and that would be fine for both trailers. If you wanted to go with separate ball mounts, for a 3 inch, use # 40331. You do not have to use that extra sway control bracket welded to it. Another option is to use an adjustable ball mount like # TK5007. It has a max rise of 9 inches...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Nissan NV 3500 Van
I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class IV hitch, part # 75715. The hitch has a 7500 lb towing/1125 lb tongue weight capacity. If you're looking for a higher capacity Class IV hitch, go with the Curt Class IV hitch, # C14000. This hitch has a 10,000 lb towing/1000 lb tongue weight capacity, although you'll be limited by the towing capacity of the van if it's lower than the capacity of the hitch. You might also need the following to complete your towing system: Trailer wiring harness, part #...

I have another recommendation as our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98854 is only rated for up to 400lbs of tongue weight when equipped with a carrier like the Black Widow that you are considering. Currently there are no other receivers available with a higher capacity for a carrier. I recommend using a Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer # K2MMT5X7.
