Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes BRKH7 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the mounting hardware for 7" brake assemblies. Now, this hardware will allow you to install two trailer brake assemblies to the 4-bolt brake mounting flange on the trailer axle. This hardware is designed to fit 7" brake assemblies that have the pre-installed mounting bolts already on them. This will work with electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything shown here. It includes eight of the 7/16 by 20 nuts, and the size socket that they fit in is going to be 11/16. It also comes with eight of the lock washers.

That should do it for the review on the mounting hardware for 7" brake assemblies.

What can I say, their bolts and washers. Washers. I wished the e-breaks would automatically add them to the cart/order though.

E trailer did a fantastic job.
Before
order: Technical support / help was excellent.
Goal, conversion of a 1998 Floe snowmobile trailer from surge to electric brakes.
Problem, due to time and corrosion, I could only supply partial part numbers, spindle diameter.
etrailer did a fantastic job, researching, and getting me the correct part numbers, so I could order.
Julie did a great job.
She was very timely, communicated clearly and honestly, and just “kept me in the loop”.

I received the order came on the projected date, complete and undamaged. Excellent.
I would highly recommend etrailer, for your part needs.

  • Replacement Brakes for 2006 Fleetwood Yuma Camper
We do have replacement brakes for your 2006 Fleetwood Yuma Camper. Information is scarce on this camper but it looks like the gross vehicle weight rating is 2,440 lbs. Based on this information and the design I'm guessing you have 2,200 lb axles. Whether it is 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb won't make a difference for a replacement. At most you have a 3,500 lb axle, I recommend verifying by checking the axle tag. If no information is listed on the axle tag you can measure your existing drums. If...

  • Adding Electric Brakes to a 2,100 lbs Axle
To add electric brakes to your 2,100 lb axle you will need the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2. This comes with left and right hand assemblies that are 7" diameter x 1-1/4" wide, fit 12" wheels and have a 4 bolt mounting flange pattern. You will also need mounting hardware # BRKH7 to complete the installation, and a brake adjustment spoon # W80630. The only other thing you will need is a brake controller and the wiring that goes with it. I have added a link to our page with our selection...

  • Hub and Drum and Brakes for Trailer With 2,000 lb Axles & Bearings L44649
Thanks for that great information we have exactly what you need for your 2,000 lb axles. The number you gave of 1.063 inches in diameter where your bearings ride on the spindle corresponds to Bearing # L44649. Knowing that, we can get you the correct hub and drum, which is the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 2K Axles # AKHD-545-2-2K. These hub and drums work with 7" brake assemblies and for hydraulic brakes the correct assembly is the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # 23-398-399. These...

  • Recommended Dexter Brake Kit for 2500 lbs Dexter Axle
For your 2500 lbs Dexter Axle you will want the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # 23-398-399. These brake assemblies measure 7 inch x 1-3/4 inch, mount to a 4 bolt mounting flange, and are compatible with 10 inch, 12 inch, and 13 inch wheels. I have attached a review video that you can check out for more information. If your brakes are 10 inches x 2-1/4 inches, if you could let me know whether you have electric or hydraulic brakes I can look into those options as well. If you need...

  • Recommended Trailer Brake Assembly for Flexride BD75450
The BD 75450 crosses over to the Dexter # 8-257-5UC3 7 inch hub/drum you'd looked at. The etrailer brand # AKEBRK-2 would be a compatible replacement for your existing brake assemblies. Mounting hardware isn't included. If you don't wish to reuse the existing brake assembly mounting hardware, we offer replacement hardware as part # BRKH7, which provides hardware to install 2 brake assemblies. You'll also want to closely examine the armature surface of the drum that the brake magnets ride...

  • Brake Controller Recommendation for 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman With 7-Way
Since you already have the 7-way on your 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman, you will only need the brake controller, and they are universal to all electric trailer brakes. For the brake controller my favorite option and the one I highly recommend is the Brake EVN # TK63VR. I love the I-Command because it is a great value due to its unique combination of quality and cost-effectiveness. The I-Command is going to give you smooth braking, is easy to use, and has a bright display that is simple to read...

  • Changing From Hydraulic to Electric Trailer Brakes on Trailer With 2,000 lb Axle
I took a look at the specs of your 1998 Jayco Eagle 12UDST, and it looks like this is a single axle trailer with a 2,000 lb axle. That means you likely have a 7" hub and drum like the Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-257-5UC3-EZ, though you will want to confirm that by measuring the inside diameter of the hub. If you do have a 7" hub and drum, as well as a 4-bolt mounting flange like # 4-34, the correct electric brakes are the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies...

The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 2,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K is only available as an independent part and is not available in a kit or pack. You will simply need to add the part to your cart selecting the quantity of 4. If you don't have the brake assemblies, you can use the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs # AKEBRK-2. You will just need 2 kits for your 4 hub assemblies. • Can 7" Hydraulic Brakes Be Replaced With Electric Brakes?
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2 is designed to fit a Flange # 4-34 which spaces the mounting holes 2-7/8" on center. As these are within 1/8" of the dimensions you listed I recommend rechecking the measurements for verification. I do not recommend drilling out the holes to increase the size as this could weaken the flange and cause another issues. Instead if your holes are a different pattern you can replace your flanges for the correct size flange. I recommend using new Mounting...

  • What Hardware Needed to Mount 7-Inch Trailer Brake Assembly
The nuts and lock washers needed to install a 7 inch brake assembly to the brake mounting flange is part # BRKH7 which includes enough hardware for 2 brake assemblies. I'm not certain what you mean by 'drum without a hub'. If you're talking electric drum brakes, the 7 inch hub drums we offer are one integrated piece like # AKHD-545-2-2K which uses the L44649 inner/outer bearing or # AKHD-545-2-1K which is compatible with the L44643 inner/outer bearing. • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to Trailer
The linked article gives you a recap of what is needed to add brakes to a trailer. The new hubs have to use the same inner and outer bearing as your old hubs to ensure they will fit on your existing spindles. The 7" Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2 is ready to be installed once you receive them - no greasing is required.
