    • Fine-tooth brake adjustment gear allows for a more precise setting
  • E-coated backing plate resists wear and corrosion

Self-Adjusting Brake Doesn't Require Routine Adjustment

Standard electric brake assemblies require manual adjustment of the brake shoes over time to provide longer-lasting and more efficient braking performance. With self-adjusting brakes, the brake shoes are always properly aligned, so there's no need to manually adjust the brakes after the initial adjustment. As a result, you get optimum performance without having to take the time to continually perform this type of maintenance.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Calling this “pre-greased” is potentially dangerous. Nothing wrong with the product itself, but the first bearing I checked had grease slopped on the backside, but not packed into the bearing. It was mostly dry. I ended up buying new seals, removing, cleaning and repacking all the bearings. Just make sure you check or pump grease into the hub before running it.

Glad I found etrailers Fast shipping and Great price for these assemblies! I had to cut the originals off they were so corroded. So I would buy nuts and washers with these. The studs are 7/16x20.

A year later and these assemblies are performing beautifully. The hardware still looks great and the pads are showing normal, but minimal wear. Beautiful stuff from etrailer.com

by:

I can't speak to the product because it just arrived but the way it was shipped was completely unacceptable. There was literally 4 unboxed brake assembly's thrown in a box with zero packaging. I'm so disappointed, I thought etrailer was a reputable company. If this is how they treat the products the sell, this will be my last purchase.

by:

I am so glad I Purchased the entire brake assembly instead of individual parts. This brake assembly is better than the original since it is self adjusting and I’ll never have to adjust my brakes again. It was a snap to install thanks to etrailer.com video instructions. I highly recommend this product

Good quality parts. Replaced my old travel travel brakes and these are perfect.

by:

We use these brakes on a heavy loaded Interstate 7,000 lb.trailer, 16 foot, high top, walk in cargo trailer that has dual axles. The route is between southern Missouri, over the Rocky Mountains passes and over the Cascade Mountain Passes into the Pacifice northwest and back to Missouri...over 5,000 miles round trip. Towed by Dodge Dakota pickup truck, I REQUIRE brakes that are reliable, self adjusting, and function together in a consistent manner. These brakes replaced manual adjustment brakes of which enroute wear required multiple manual adjustments along the side of the road to safely cross high mountain passes. The difference between manual and self adjusting brakes and the consistent/straight stoping power of the self adjusting brakes is impossible to overstate. These self adjusting brakes were very easy to install, a mere bolt on job. I literally trust our lives to these brakes....and recommend them with great confidence with tens of thousands of miles of use.

by:

Very straight forward instaltion. Estimated time per side is about 2 hours with bearing service, removing old nuts was the most time consuming, wich also recommend spraying with penatrating oil the day before.

by:

Bought a Hayes 3500 lbs axle that sat in the dirt for years and the pads nearly fused to the hubs. Well worth the money for piece of mind. Only suggestion is to pick up the 7/16-20 bolts with your order (eTrailer, why not just add it to the kit?)

Made my trailer project much easier.

Thank you much!

by:

Upgraded my old worn out brakes with these self adjusting units. They fit perfect and have been trouble free. Previous owner got carried away with the Easy Lub Hubs!!
I personally don't like them, as you don't know where the grease is going. I would rather do the lubing job the old fashion way. Not only do I know it's right, but I get to inspect all the brake components while at it.

by:

These complete replacement brakes are excellent quality, as a retired Heavy Equipment /Truck mechanic, I can rebuild anything, but it was nice to be able to bolt on parts that are of this quality and save several hours labor, while saving money over purchasing parts to rebuild my brakes. These brakes were perfect to finish off a suspension upgrade / overhaul.

Ordered online and etrailer responded within minutes to let me know the part I ordered was not in stock, but they had another brand of the same part available, which I agreed and with paid 3-5 shipping received package in 2 business days. Installed the same night and all went well. Thanks etrailer for excellent customer service. Will definitely look to you first for additional needs for our trailers.

by:

Great stuff and fantastic customer care. Etrailer walked me through the entire purchase and made it very easy for me. I will do business with etrailer in the future??
As you can see I was ready for replacement

by:

I installed these brake assemblies on a 53 year old Shasta trailer and they replaced the originals perfectly! Thanks etrailer!

by:

Best deal ever. I thought I had to buy the parts individually. Love etrailer

by:

Great quality products. Fast shipping

by:

as always great prices and the diy videos are a must see. my go to place for all my car hauler trailer needs

by:

I received my shipment in a box at least 4 times the size it should have been.
This allowed the brake assemblies to move around freely during transit, causing the shoes, brake magnets and adjusters to shift. The parts were poorly wrapped with paper with no bubble wrap or styrofoam to protect the parts.
This picture may show it better. I am planning to order three brake drums
(#AKHD-545-35-K)in the near future. Hopefully, they will be packaged better.

by:

One of the first pair tha I ordered over adjusted and dragged the drum got hot , but fortunately not enough to damage anything else. I had to pay for the return. I explained that I was committed to leaving by a specific date. When no tracking came up I called. Returns said that the were behind and it would be several days befor it would be prosessed and a replacement shipped. I call customer service and got a sorry but that’s policy. I then got an automated call asking I was satisfied with customer. Service and did I need to talk to asuppervisor.. I got results, although it still could have faster even after that, I managed to get on the road only a couple days late.the replacement was ok. After several hundred miles the brakes are still ok.

by:

Fantastic quality, 0 complaints!
Tested
and work perfect. Would absolutely recommend. I’ll be sure to use etrailer for my trailer and hauling needs.

Having problems with the manual adjustment brakes on my trailer I decided to try the self-adjusting brakes that etrailer offered. The price was right, and the delivery was excellent. I ordered on a Friday afternoon before a holiday on a Monday and received my order mid-afternoon on the following Wednesday...Great service. The brakes were very easy to mount. Also ordered extra bolts (which were not what I thought I needed...wrong size...may have been my fault on selection), nuts, lock washers, grease seal, etc. Everything packaged very well. Came UPS. Watch the video before mounting if you are not sure. May save you time. Etrailer has a great web site with all the information you will need. If not, call them (I did not call). If I need any other trailer parts I will be sure to order from Etrailer again. Great job Etrailer, and Thank You!!

Well, I cant really say much. I have not used the trailer since installing the brakes, etc. As trailers sometimes go, they may set not being used much as in my case. I still stand on the review I submitted on 07/12/2016. I am sure I will be using the trailer soon and sure the brakes will work great. Thanks again etrailer!!!

by:

Very pleased again with Etrailer's on-line ordering service and the quality of their products. This order included electric brake assembly and new hubs for my snowmobile trailer. I was able to order the self adjusting style electric brake assemblies from Etrailer for less than I could find the manual adjusting style brake assemblies anywhere else. Also, the hub assemblies from Etrailer included all new bearings, races, and dust covers were as the others did not.
Very pleased.

The electric brake systems are working great. I have put on approx. 1,000 miles on my 27 enclosed trailer loaded with 4 snowmobiles and the brakes are working just fine.

by:

The brake shoes had come apart, maybe because of bad packaging! I was able to reassemble them! I installed them on my 24 foot camper and sorta concerned because my stopping power isn’t close to what is was before!!!

I recently ordered two self adjusting brakes and wire. Through error on my part I ordered the wrong butt connectors. That's okay when I place my next order I will order the correct ones. The brakes were easy to install thanks to all the videos e trailer provides. I will be placing more orders before my 1965 Serro Scotty is completed.

All arrived on-time. Everything fit perfectly.

If I have to make any comment it would have to inform etrailer that one brake assembly two of the mounting studs had come loose and one assembly had one loose. I found the two loose studs rattling inside of the brake assembly and the other inside of the shipping box. I hammered all 3 back onto the brake assembly and was on my way.

The best thing about these brake assemblies is now I have self-adjusting brakes. No more jacking and crawling under the camper trailer.

Contrary to some posters self-adjusting brakes have been use on autos for many years and just like them the do not over adjust. I have towed our camper more than 7,000 mile since installing these self-adjusting brakes, from the east coast to west coast to Oregon, through the mountains of Colorado above 10,000 ft and back to the east coast and they worked just fine. I think the important thing to remember is to set your trailer brake setting properly in the tow vehicle so they are not applying too hard. I went from a setting of 6 down to 3.5 and get plenty braking power.
