Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

No information is provided as to axle to brake flange spacing so this will fit and work. If you don't already have the complete axle, buyer beware this will be a huge pain.

great service

Upgraded my hubs and added electric brakes to my Aliner. As usual with etrailer, great product and even better customer service. I originally ordered the wrong size and etrailer worked with me to determine the correct size for my trailer. They then sent out the new parts and gave me a full refund on returned parts. New hubs and brakes work flawlessly.

by:

etrailer.com needs to change up their website to ask you to select the bearing size you need for this product upon adding it to your cart. This mistake is ultimately on me, but I think the site could improve the shopping experience by making the user select the proper bearing size.

I ordered two of these hubs and it came with a bearing that was 0.05 too small. I asked to exchange and they told me that the only ones they had in stock with the bearing I needed were 80 bucks more (each).

I asked to return them. Sure, no problem, that'll be $[XX] to send them back.

So my advice is to choose wisely when you order and make sure you have the right bearings.

I ended up putting my old bearings in the new hubs. Perhaps etrailer.com could have just swapped the bearings for me as an alternative

Needed to add brakes to my trailer to meet the specs of our vehicle's towing capacity. These hubs were one of many purchase required to make that happen.

It's been a year and they've been working as expected.

  • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to a Trailer with 2,000 lb Axle Spindles
Since the spindles you have installed are BT8 2,000 lb axle spindles without brake mounting flanges you are going to need the hubs part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K which you'll notice has a 5 bolt wheel bolt pattern. This is because the 4 bolt pattern isn't available with a hub/drum. Then for brake assemblies you'd want the set # AKEBRK-2, for brake flanges part # 4-34, and then for new wheels I attached a link to a page that has everything we offer with the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

  • How To Add Brakes To a Coleman Sedona Pop-Up Camper
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2 is what I recommend using so long as you have the standard four bolt brake mounting flange. This will then work great with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K but you'll first need to verify that you currently use L44643 (1" Inner Diameter) bearings which should be the case. This means pulling the hubs unfortunately. So long as this works the above will be a direct fit. The only thing that's left is the Epicord 7-Way Molded...

Thanks for all of the info! It looks like you have a BT8 spindle so that's the type of replacement hubs you need. • Replacement Hub/Drum and Brakes Needed for Dexter 3,500 lb Torsion Axles on 1994 Jayco Popup Camper
The early 90's is about when axle weight ratings and the parts that go with them started to become a bit more standardized so I'm not surprised that your Dexter 3,500 lb axles are using 10" wheels that fit with the 2,000 lb axle parts. For your application I recommend replacing everything and going with with electric brakes since they are easier to maintain and are more cost-effective. This will require you to add a brake controller and breakaway battery setup to your camper but you also...

  • What Size Brake Assemblies Will Fit with 12 inch Diameter Wheels
Since you have 12 inch wheels you would have to go with a smaller hub/drum to fit underneath them. The standard size that would fit under a 12 inch rim is 7 x 1-3/4 like the part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K which fits most 2k axles. But first we need to figure out what spindles you have on your trailer so that we can determine which hub/drum would fit and then build from there. The # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K would work if the bearings in your current hub are both L44643. If you check out the link I attached...
