Replacement Electric Trailer Brakes For 2,000 lb Axle

Question:

I have a 1978 apache Messa. I was wondering if you have a electric brake kit that will fit in place of my existing brake setup that is not working at the moment. The flange that the brakes bolt to seem to be 2 7/8 center to center. the backing plate that the brakes sit on is 7 1/8 in diameter. any help would be apreciated.. I also started looking at getting new hubs possible for my 1978 apache Mesa. I was looking at Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-2K. The rear bearing and this hub seems to match with whats on my trailer other than the outer bearing on mine uses a LM11949 bearing which has a inner diameter of only 3/4 of an inch. the hub above uses the l44649 bearing on the inner and outer. My question is can another bearing race be pressed into to that hub to accommodate the lm11949 bearing with the smaller inner diameter. Or do you maybe have a hub that uses the two different diameters. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for that info, and based on the measurements you gave, there are 2,000 lb electric brakes that will work for you and fit your brake mounting flange:

- Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs # AKEBRK-2

These will fit a 2,000 lb hub and drum, and to install them you need the Mounting Hardware for 7" Brake Assemblies # BRKH7.

You will also need - if you don't have one - an adjustment spoon, the Brake Adjustment Spoon for Drum Brakes # W80630. What we don't have though is a hub and drum that will fit with your bearings, and you don't want to try and force one with different dimensions onto your spindle.
