With repeated use of this brake assembly, the brake shoes may move out of alignment, causing less efficient braking performance. To keep the brake shoes aligned and the brake assembly performing correctly, you should perform routine maintenance.
This brake assembly should be adjusted after installation and then as needed for the life of the brake. To adjust the brake, use a brake adjustment screw tool (sold separately) to turn the adjustment gear on the inside of the assembly. Continue to turn the gear until the drum surrounding the brake catches on the brake pads enough so that the hub can no longer be turned easily by hand. Then reverse the gear by about 10 clicks. A properly adjusted brake should drag slightly on the brake drum.
This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.
Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.
The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Have had nothing but problems with these brakes. The retainer clip that holds the electromagnetic metal disk to the lever keeps coming off, which allows the disc to pop off and hang down making a racket in the wheel. I have taken the wheel apart three times to put a retainer clip back in. Gave up and bought some Dexter brakes at a [local] store in Tucson. Wish I had a photo still of the mess that the brakes became.
Outstanding product and installs literally in minutes once you get the old ones off! Very reasonable pricing and speedy delivery.

They work perfectly. They are on a boat trailer. They still work well after being wet. I have had no problems.
The packing was terrible. The brake assemblies were just put in a box with no wraping or packing to keep them apart. The brake shoes have chips in them and some magnet keepers and magnets were off and laying in the box. A nice looking brake assembly all banged up. all four brake assemblies in same box. Not A good way to ship products.

Perfect bolt on fit. The only thing different from the original OEM brake assembly on my RV was the coil retainer clips are a different design, but that doesn't affect the way they work. Only issue was during shipping a couple of those clips popped off the actuator arms, so the coils came loose from the assembly, and the coil springs were in the box loose, easy to reassemble though. Need a way to restrain the coils from bouncing up and down during shipping. So be careful of loose parts, removing packaging when unboxing these. I will be buying new hubs/ drums from eTrailer soon. GREAT Company, GREAT people. Brakes were bought to replace original brakes on a 1998 Jayco Hawk TT Model 24 RK with dual Dexter axles that my wife and I restored.
These were to replace the worn out units on my snowmobile trailer. Initially I was very happy with the product, parts went in quickly and easily. After a year of use I took the drum off (to inspect the bearings) and I was shocked to see how rusted the drum pad levers and separators are! I feel that these are well designed but could use a better coating to prevent rust.
Just ordered a new set(different brand) They made it through the Rocky Mountain and I got them too hot on the other side. One wire got hot and shorted out. (About 3500 miles use) I had them set too tight on my controller. The spring clip is weak and laying in the box at delivery.
I was looking for replacement parts for pop-up camper. I did a lot of looking around and found that etrailer had the best prices by far and very reasonable shipping.
My order was processed immediately and shipped the next day. I appreciated the personal follow-up when my order was delivered asking if everything was in order.

The only reason I do not give you 5 stars is because your web site. When internet ordering, it should instantly state when a part is out of stock. Even nicer would be expected restocking dates. The parts received were exactly what I ordered for my electric brake conversion from surge brakes at far less expense than reparing the internally rusted surge brake system. There was a plethora of information on your web site to assist me in ordering the correct parts for the conversion. Plus there were videos to see how to complete the conversion and how parts were installed and adjusted. Customer service was excellent.
Recieved my order quickly and all as I had ordered. Four electric brake assembly were delivered and were installed on my 17' camper. Fits like a charm. Now ready for camping with safe brakes and new tires as well.

So far everything is great with my order from etrailer. The parts are as described. I have only installed two, out of the four, brakes.
After I placed my order and selected the free shipping, they upgraded it to a 3-day service, which was totally AWESOME. Unfortunately, UPS wasn't able to keep their truck on schedule. What should have been a Friday delivery, got pushed back to Monday.
Perfect fit replacement. Replaced my brakes and hubs on an older pop-up camper. Make sure to buy the new hardware (lock washers and nuts) to make things even easier!
I used these on an old pop up camping trailer. Installation was a pretty straight forward nuts and bolts operation. At first I wasn't sure they were working very well but after some break in and readjusting they seem to be working great.
I put these on my pop up camper as one side had a leaky grease seal and the pads were toast. Couldn't find any pads so replaced both sides. They bolted right up with no problems. Just make sure you buy the right size. Not expensive so a good solution.
The parts came as expected. Fit was excellent. Finish was also better than expected. I was able to reuse the nuts that hold them to the axel. It would have been nice if the description indicated that the studs were metric, as I purchased SAE threaded nuts ahead of time. One other suggestion would be to partially strip the lead wires and leave the cut insulation in place to prevent the ends from fray during and shipping. The value (price compare) was excellent. Would buy again for sure.
Okay at best, no nuts to mount. Had to reuse old. Got lucky getting the old ones off or would have been a trip to the store. That's what you get for going the cheap route.

That is great you were able to reuse your existing brake mounting hardware. These brake assemblies do not come with the lock washers and nuts. They are available separately with part # BRKH7S.

These brakes came ready to install, exactly as described. I had them back on my trailer 15 minutes after they arrived and the work great. No issues with fit or application.
