Can Motorcycle Use Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller

Question:

I have never pulled a Trailer and thus have no plugs at this time. I was thinking about hydraulic surge brakes at first but electric would be a lot simpler. I would have to add the actual electric brakes to the trailer wheels too.

So long as your motorcycle has a 7-way, you can use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.

If your motorcycle has a 4-way already but not a 7-way you can simply add the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L.

Okay, since you don't have any wiring already, you would still use the # ETBC7L, but you would need to first add a 4-way to your motorcycle. Since they have separate turn and brake lights, and trailers have combined lighting systems, you will need the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit w/ 4-Pole Connector # 119178KIT. For electric brakes, you will just need to get ones that fit your trailer's hub and drum, and that is determined by the drum's inside diameter. For example, if your drum was 10 inches (a typical 3,500 lb axle) you would need the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-26-27. If it was 7 inches (a typical 2,000 lb - 2,200 lb axle) you would need the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-47-48. Both require the Brake Adjustment Spoon for Drum Brakes # W80630, and the 2,000 lb brakes also need the 2,000 lb brakes need the Mounting Hardware # BRKH7.
