Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I Drums/hubs are great. Pre-greased and ready to go. Would be 5 stars but not one of the supplied dust covers fit in the hubs. I had to re-use my old ones. Other than that these were fantastic!

Hi Brian, Thanks for your feedback! The dust covers are a tight fit, but they are a correct fir for the hubs. They will get easier to fit as they are removed and reinstalled.

by:

Fast delivery, exactly as described

by:

They will need bearings regreased. They were not shipped with anywhere near enough grease to make them last around the block. Which means you’ll have to carefully remove the rear seal or buy new ones to grease the inside bearing. And all the hub center caps would not fit and had to roll the edge with pliers a little to get them to tap into the hub.

I put new bearings and shoes and drums on the open car hauler. Michigan to Colorado 4 times. I wasn’t even concerned. Great products.

by:

Worked great.fit perfect thanks

by:

Just what I needed, and priced well. Bought a drum locally, and they gave me the wrong bolt pattern, and won't take it back. etrailer sent what I ordered, it fits perfectly like I knew it would. I'm about to order a brake controller for my truck next. I won't be able to get a pic until I mount it to the trailer, which is 600 miles away from me at the moment unfortunately. Thank you etrailer.

by:

The braking system that I purchased is still working like new. I’m very pleased with your product.

  • 3,500 lb Trailer Axle Hub with 5 on 4-3/4 inch Bolt Pattern
Since you have a 3,500 lb axle we do have hubs and hub/drums that fit that have the correct bolt pattern of 5 on 4-3/4 inches like the part # AKIHUB-5475-35-EZ-K for an idler hub or part # AKHD-5475-35-EZ-K.

  • 5 on 5 or 5 on 4-3/4 Lug Pattern? How to Determine Which You Have
I would be happy to help you. The second 5 in the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly item # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K 5 on 5 pattern is referring to the placement of the lug studs. Since yours are 2-3/4 center to center you will need a 5 on 4-3/4 pattern. The Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 5 on 4-3/4 item # AKHD-5475-35-EZ-K are identical to the ones you were looking at and fit the same spindle size. • Fitting Trailer with 3500 lb Axles with Brake Assemblies and Hub/Drums
Based on the brake mounting flange dimensions you have you can easily install brake assemblies like the # AKEBRK-35-SA which will bolt right up. The trick though is going to be picking out the correct hub/drums for your spindles so that we can then pick the correct brake assemblies. Before we get into that though this does not add additional width to the trailer axle. Since you said you have 3,500 lb trailer axles with a 5 bolt pattern the most likely hubs you'd need are the part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K...

  • Hubs that Fit with Trailer Brake Assemblies AKEBRK-35-SA
The trailer hub/drum # AKHD-5475-35-EZ-K is the correct fit for the assembly set part # AKEBRK-35-SA that you referenced and is sold individually so that means you'd need to order a quantity of 2. This hub has the less popular 5 on 4-3/4 inch wheel bolt pattern though so you should verify that is what you have. The more popular bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2 inch like the part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K.

  • Replacement Brake and Hub and Drum Kit for Dexter 3,500 lb Axles
We do! For a brake kit I recommend going with the Self-Adjusting Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA for electric brakes or the Free Backing Kit # AKFBBRK-35 for hydraulic brakes. When it comes to the hub and drum assembly you can choose out of the following based on your bolt pattern: 5 on 4-1/2" - # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K 5 on 4-3/4" - # AKHD-5475-35-EZ-K 5 on 5" - # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K 5 on 5-1/2" - # AKHD-555-35-EZ-K 6 on 5-1/2" - # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K I am attaching some helpful articles that you can check...

  • Replacement 10" Electric Brakes for a 1995 Fleetwood 5th Wheel Trailer
Thank you for all of the info! Since your current drums are 10" that means you need the 10" Self-Adjusting Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA. If you're needing to get new hub/drum assemblies then we do have some replacements for you. The 2-3/4" measurement you took means that you have a 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern so I recommend using the assembly # AKHD-5475-35-EZ-K. With that being said, the most common bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2" and while 5 on 4-3/4" isn't impossible, it isn't...

Yes, a 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern and the 5x120 bolt pattern are compatible and basically considered to be the same bolt pattern in spite of the .65mm difference. For a hub and drum assembly with 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern I recommend using the # AKHD-5475-35-EZ-K, which would pair with a 10" brake assembly like the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA.
