E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Hard to find part (lugs on a 4.75 pattern), accurately described, arrived quickly, fit perfectly. Will definitely work with this outfit again if the need arises.

by:

Product arrive ahead of schedule, put in service, and worked perfectly. I am beyond satisfied. This replaced 5 X 4 1/2 with 5 X 4 3/4 - this is on the trailer, as yet unpainted.

by:

Excellent quality hub from a well known and trusted manufacturer. 4-3/4" bolt circle not as common as most 4-1/2" bolt circle hubs offered by other vendors, but that suited my purposes perfectly. All parts were included, and I would buy this again without hesitation.

Its been a year now since I received these, and am still very satisfied. No problems or issues.

by:

Good wheel hubs complete with all necessary mounting parts. Unfortunately one of the four hubs didn't have the correct grease seal with it. One seal instead of having two sealing lips, only had a single inner seal ring with no tensioner spring. If not for that one grease seal it was a good order, reasonable pricing and very quick shipping.

by:

  • How to Determine the Correct Replacement Hub
In order to find the correct replacement hubs for your trailer, you need to know the weight rating of your axle, and also what bearings your current hub has. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper and measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease...

  • Suitability of Replacement 5-on-4-3/4-Inch Bolt Pattern Hubs on Boat Trailer
We offer four hub assemblies in the 5-on-4-3/4 inch bolt pattern you need and these can be seen on the link at right. The key to determining compatibility with your spindles is the bearing set used. All of these hubs use the same bearing set, # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer. If your hubs use the same bearing set then they will work. If you are referring to a taper in the mid-section of the spindle (the area between the points where the two bearings sit) this will not matter. In such...

  • Recommended Replacement for a Dexter Hub with a 5 Bolt Pattern and A 2-3/4 Inch Bolt Distance
If the 2-3/4 measurement is from center of bolt to center of bolt, then your current hub has a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-3/4. Hub # 845475UC1 does have a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-3/4, but you will want to make sure that your current bearings will match the ones included with the hub. Hub # 845475UC1 uses inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649. These industry standard numbers should be lasered onto the back side of your bearings, or if the numbers are not visible, you can always...

  • Determining Correct Replacement Axle For Older Axle W/ LM29749 and L44640 Bearing Combination
I have a replacement axle option for you, but unfortunately there are no hubs available that use bearing combination # 29749 and L44640. The best option is going to be replacing the axle with one that uses a more common bearing combination. To do this you will need to confirm a few things about your axle. First measure from hub face to hub face to get the length of the axle. Next measure from spring center to spring center to get the frame width of your trailer. Lastly you will need to...

  • Replacing Dexter Hubs To Transition to a GMC Truck Wheel Bolt Pattern
To determine the correct hub to replace the existing hub on your horse trailer I will need the inner and outer bearing numbers and the seal part numbers to select the proper parts for your spindle. We do offer 5-on-4-3/4 hubs that you can see on the linked page. These include both idler hubs like # 845475UC1 and hub/drums like # 845476UC3. Be sure to check the bearings in your current hubs for their part numbers; new hubs have to use the same bearings or they will not fit on your spindles. The linked photo will show you where to find those part numbers. Also note that mobile home axles are intended for a single use only (to transport the MH) but not for ongoing use like a trailer axle.
