There are multiple ways to measure the length of an axle beam, but the hub-face-to-hub-face and spring-center-to-spring-center lengths are the most accurate. Hub face (A) refers to the length of the axle measured from the base of one wheel stud to the base of the wheel stud on the opposite side of the axle (when hubs are mounted on the beam).
The spring center (B) is the approximate width of your trailer. It is measured from the center of the spring seat on one side of the axle to the center of the seat on the other. This axle beam comes with the spring seats welded on.
Another helpful measurement to have is the flange-to-flange (C) length, which is measured from the outside of one brake flange to the outside of the one opposite. This length may be easy to obtain if you are replacing an axle, but it's important to note that this measurement is not the preferred method for determining which axle will best fit your trailer.
If you are replacing your trailer's axle, you should be able to figure out which type you need by determining your trailer's capacity, the bolt pattern of your wheels, the brake type and the aforementioned lengths.
Dexters are made of high-strength steel and come with spindles and spring seats welded on. The spring seats are attached to the underside of the axle so that the leaf springs (sold separately) can mount beneath the axle. The result of this underslung design is a trailer that rides a bit lower for quick and easy loading and unloading.
Each axle is manufactured to create a certain camber angle. This ensures that the angle of the wheels is correct for your towing needs. Because the primary concern when towing is maintaining controlled, in-line movement, each axle is made so that your trailer's tires will run along the pavement evenly, with contact across the width of the tread. The result is excellent straight-line acceleration for steady, in-line tracking. You might notice the bend near the center of the axle; this is what ensures the proper camber angle. Having the center ride a bit higher and the sides of the axle bent lower allows the axle to give just enough to compensate for the load.

Unbelievable how much a different changing to this axle has made with my 12 utility trailer. Rolls better than when it was new. Great product from a great company to do business with.
The axle did not quit line up with the leaf spring had to use a come along to pull the spring together to get them to line up

Great axle. Very pleased with it. I was shipped the wrong axle butt etrailer sent the correct one and I was able to ship the wrong one back later. Got me on the road a little quicker.

The spring center spacing was 74" as advertised. However, the information page made it sound like using this for my 74.5" spring spacing would be no big deal. I did manage to get it to fit but I will be watching this closely. There should be a statement on all trailer axles that stresses the importance of proper spring center distance or explain what is all involved in changing the spring mounting seat location.
Super easy to swap out with the old axle, the bearings fit the spindles perfect. The spring perches and the axle itself were straight, would and will purchase from again!
Part was shipped and delivered in a very timely manner. Axle was an exact replacement for what I needed. Great service, quality product. Will definitely use etrailer again when the need arises.

Great service! Axle was a perfect fit! Best store for trailer parts. I'm looking for fenders now. Guess where I'm going to buy them. That's right, right here. I suggest everyone do the same and save yourself the headaches of other stores backorder and bad customer service!
I was surprised at how easy this whole process was through etrailer. I was looking around locally for the same axle and found several of the same axle but all were around $200. I decided the next morning I would go get one locally, but then checked here and found axle a lot cheaper here. It was a Sunday night when I placed order and didn’t expect any response on my order till Monday but to my surprise about 1 hour later I got a email saying my order was processing and then a little while later another email saying was ready to ship, all on Sunday night. Order cane in the exact day they said it would. Will definitely be using etrailer for all my trailer items now. Easier than amazon. Thank you etrailer.

Both the axle and u-bolt kit installed on my trailer with no hassle at all. This is the first time I’ve order from etrailer. My order came way before the estimated delivery date, which is great for all the DIY’ers. The only complaint/suggestion that I have is to put the torque specs with the u-bolt kits. Over all the product is great.
