E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Last Saturday, after several weeks of research, my wife and I purchased a trailer. It had everything we wanted except for brakes. I asked the dealer if they could install brakes, he said it would take weeks if not longer for him to get the parts and then he would have to arrange for them to be installed.

I told the dealer that I had already done some preliminary research on eTrailer.com for brake parts. On a long shot, I asked the dealer if he could beat eTrailer.com prices for the brake parts and if so I would install. To the dealer's credit, he told me I would be much better off getting the brake parts I needed on my own. So, late Sunday evening I went onto the eTrailer.com website. After taking a couple of measurements to ensure I was ordering the correct parts, I placed the order. Their website is user friendly and intuitive, and the tutorial videos are excellent.

Early Monday morning I got a message from one of eTrailer's employees notifying me that my parts had shipped. He also offered his services if I needed anything further or if I had any questions. I did have questions, so I called him, I wanted to confirm that I had ordered the correct bolt pattern for the hub/drums. Within a couple of minutes we confirmed that I had taken the correct measurements. The reassuring part was, he said if you find the hub/drums are not the correct ones, let me know and we will get a return label out to you and get the correct parts out to you.

By early Thursday afternoon the parts had arrived. I had already watched the installation tutorial video that is on their website. Following the video process, the install was straight forward and PAINLESS. This company is so refreshing!

Thanks for the follow up. For almost 10 years now, I have been very happy with the service, products and value that I get from etrailer. So much so, that I refer friends and family to your website as their needs arise. As the mechanic in the family, and around the neighborhood, I often have people approach me for help. Several times a year I find myself referencing etrailers website to find a part we need or that will make a job easier to complete. Additionally, I CANT SAY ENOUGH how helpful etrailers on line video library has been with installations and to help answer questions or trouble shoot problems. I really appreciate that etrailer would take the time and resources to build such a library to help their customers.

Easy to install, helpfull staff and fast shipping . I installed a switch to turn on all my brakes for loading and I turned it on to check the brakes and when I released it I herd the brakes adjust (almost felt giddy) no more crawling under the trailer for adjustment! You cant see any difference in the trailer but, i know my brakes will work for a long time to come. THANK YOU etrailer.com for an easy pleasant experience and all of the help in the past. you have made me want to come back for future parts.

I installed these Dexter 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit with Hub & Drum Assembly on my 72"X10' trailer (that came equipped with a Dexter axle) to help ease the brake load as well as preventing rotor warping on my F150 especially during heavy loads. I have pretty much eliminated any 'push-thru' effect when braking especially for the unexpected quick stop(s). They were easy to install and (so far) have been low/no maintenance.

Heads up!!
ordered 4 sets of hub, drums
and brakes over two years ago for a project I've been slowly working on. when I received the items, I noticed the packaging was damaged and reported it to etrailer. 2 years later, I finally went to use the items and discovered the bearings, caps and races had been damaged. I notified the management at etrailer and within a week had complete replacements.
What company in this day and age is willing to stand behind a damage claim two years on? Truly remarkable customer service and willingness to go the extra mile.
etrailer, You've won me forever as a devoted and satisfied customer. you guys are rock stars! Thank You.

I upgraded my open bed car-hauler's electric brakes from single axle to double axle for added safety. My trailer was originally set up with manual adjusters on one axle and they stopped okay when new; but adding the second set adds absolutely unbelievable stopping power and stability. The best part; they went on in about three and a half hours. I replaced the original units on the existing axle, bolted new matching units on the front and wired them in with no problems. Dexter quality is excellent. I used the new brake assemblies and new drum assemblies and they are really nice units. It was only a few bucks more to replace with new than to rebuild the old units.

by:

The products I ordered were as I expected. Everything arrived quickly and without damage.
My only negative and a warning for others, if you are ordering similar parts with the intention of adding brakes to an axle...
1) There are no nuts to attach the brake assembly backing plate with. Even if I was replacing an existing unit, I would want fresh hardware.
2) The bearing/seal assemblies for the hub do not include a new washer/retainer/nut for the axle. Again, anyone replacing these would want fresh hardware.

by:

The hub, drum and brakes were excellent quality and everything was included that was needed to facilitate the perfect install. The guys at e-trailer were extremely helpful and their response to my mistake of ordering the wrong drums was immediate and fast. This is one top shelf company; I will definitely deal with them in the future.

by:

My first order did not go through because I failed to change my billing address for my card and my card was declined. etrailer.com contacted me right away and I reordered my brakes. They showed up quickly and were exactly what I ordered. Communication was great, price was awesome, and our trailer is back in service. I have bought from etrailer before and will do so again. Thanks etrailer.com!

by:

I had a tandem axle trailer that only had brakes on the rear axle. ordered these hubs and brakes the fit perfect and now I have more braking capability.

by:

I installed the new electric brakes and drums on a new off road teardrop type camper we just purchased. I have always had excellent service with Dexter axles and the parts I just installed were as usual, top quality. Thank you!

by:

Heavy items were packed nicely in heavy duty box. Everything was received intact and complete. Delivered quick, day UPS guy came was 100 degrees and very humid. Poor guy never made it to door, but set it next to trailer which was fine with me. I used a dolly to get it inside. Parts all fit perfectly, only issue i had was getting very last bolt removed from old brake plate. The nut broke loose from plate, couldn't get nut off. So used angle grinder, problem resolved. Install was smooth and easy.

by:

Have not installed it yet so I can't review the product. I can tell you that etrailer's customer service is top notch. I called about a shipping delay after I placed my order. They assured me it would only be a day and not a week like my order confirmation said. Called back the next day and my order was already shipped. Good people to do business with.

by:

Great service.fast shipping .easy returns.if you need trailer parts it's the only place to go.

by:

Customer service at etrailer.com was nothing less than fantastic. Hub arrived as described. All of the necessary components were included in the package. Easy to put together and install.

by:

Working great. This was a replacement for a factory hub that failed. I just checked the bearings last week and they look like they did a year ago.
Thanks!

by:

Great product. Super easy to install. Highly recommend to anyone needing brakes.

by:

Good quality drum and bearing races were already installed so that was a chore i didnt have to deal with. I didnt care for the China brand bearing otherwise it was a good fit for my Dexter EZ lube axles.

by:

etrailer customer service is excellent with fast response and super fast delivery. this dexter drum is biffier than the china ones and better made. excellent service and great dexter product. cant beat this!

by:

I was broke down, ordered a new drum in the early afternoon. It was shipped the same day and I was back in business in 48 hours.
Good parts, good prices, and good shipping. Etrailer gets all my parts business.

by:

What can you say about brake drums? Everything fit like it was supposed to. I found the video on bearing adjustment useful.

by:

I ordered Hub/Drum Assembly, 10" Nev-R-Adjust Break Assembly and seals. Products were as advertised. Shipping was very Fast.

by:

These drum/hub units are great quality and price. Everything is supplied to make installation fast and easy. Ordering was easy with salespeople that know their products. Very happy dealing with etrailer..

by:

Fit right (thanks to etrailer staff for asking the right questions) easy to install. Kinda wish the adjusting holes were a bit bigger, but they work.

by:

Good fit and finish, this drum with bearings fit nicely. The bearing cap was properly installed but did end up falling off after about 100 miles of use but that's a cheap part that can be obtained online.

  • Distance From Wheel Mount Surface To End Of EZ-Lube Grease Cap On EZ-Lube Hub And Drum Assy
I have attached photos of the Trailer Hub, part # 84556UC3-EZ, and of the 2 grease caps that are included. The distance from the hub where the wheel mounts and the top of the hub opening that the cap installs, is 1-5/8 inches. With the EZ-Lube cap installed, that adds an additional 1 inch, so the total is 2-5/8 inches from the wheel mounting surface to the end of the EZ-Lube grease cap. If you decide to use the standard grease cap that is included instead of the EZ-Lube cap, the total...
