I installed this connector on my travel trailer. The original connector had become loose and would fall out if not retained by the tab on the bottom of the connector. After a year of usage The Pollack connector still snaps into place and fits tight. Good product.

by:

Routine trailer maintenance. Absolutely nothing worse than fighting trailer lighting or electric brake issues when traveling.

by:

Exact product that I was expecting. Quality trailer connector.

Still working as intended. No issues.

by:

Not sure if this one is defective or what but all of the blades are very loose. Haven’t wired up yet so I don’t know if it will work or not. Disappointed in product. Expected better from Pollak 12706. Have a Hopkins and all blades are tight.

Huh, that is odd. Luckily, this connector comes apart. You should be able to use the set screws and be able to tighten up the blades. For now, let me get you over to customer service.

Product so far has worked great for a pinched/cut OEM 7pin cord. It isnt weatherproof like an OEM connector to the cord-as well as the female end of the connector but then its just the connector so totally sealed is not the design for this. It works fine & currently has saved me from having to purchase a connector & wire cord as 1 piece & some shennagins with installing that set up.

by:

It's a good plug and easy to wire with internal screw terminals. However, there's no real weatherproof seal to the cable or bundled wiring that you're inserting into the plug. It's going to get wet inside the plug, leading to possible short circuits unless you seal the cable entry well with RTV or dry it out regularly and/or take it apart once and a while to make sure there's no corrosion on the terminals. A lot of plugs are like this which is why the manufacturers use a molded plug/cable assembly for the trailer connector cable.

by:

The terminals are a little to small and lightweight for heavier wires.

by:

Great jack for the money! Much better than the jacks that come on most utility trailers that wear out quickly.

by:

Using this product to replace inputs from a straight-4 hookup plus add'l wires from a supplemental light system for my truck. Works exactly as advertised; saves me a lot of hassle. Installer must have some rudimentary electrical-connection knowledge.

You must also know which of the seven contacts does what for your vehicle to install this correctly; should be in your car/truck's manual.

Four instead of 5 stars just because the entrance/exit hole for wires needs supplementation to make it water-tight.

Product is easily worth the money and functions exactly as one would expect.

by:

Quality product, reasonably priced, I keep a extra one to have on hand.

by:

Showed up in acceptable condition, refused order. Parts missing. Have not heard back yet for replacement of order

I have this same plug (PK 12706) on the Boat Trailer and it works perfect, and never disconnects or shorts. Now I'm putting this same plug on the Snowmobile Trailer. I'll let you know if I have any problems. Anything to do with trailer issues I always contact eTrailer Company first.
Thanks,
Ron

Item arrived on time and was as described on the website.

by:

This was a great deal. I was switching from and old style 6 pin. What I really like was the size of the wire clamps and screws. Because of this I was able to fit 10 gauge wires in the 12V +-locations for better/ faster battery charging in my camper while driving.

by:

Works great

by:

Excellent place to purchase quality par ts.

by: 05/18/2023

Decided to install this myself after getting quotes for $1100.00.
Now I know why they charge so much. But with the help of etrailer's
video's the install went as planned and works great.
Thanks etrailer.

Parts work gread! I use this one with a receptacle on my Kubota tractor for powering my utility trailer electric brakes and for an auxiliary power outlet for my 16 gallon electric sprayer

This was an exact replacement for the one that had broken. Its even labeled inside for what color wires attach to what terminal. Can not go wrong here.

Finally, a company that actually knows how to package a product! Quality packing materials, Thick, sturdy cartons, plenty of paper to prevent the items from banging around inside and destroying each other. Quick shipping, good communication and overall fair prices. Will be back for more!

by:

all good, easy to install and working as it should.

This was the last part I needed to order to carry a spare tire on my RV. Sherry S. was a GREAT help ensuring I had all the right part for my Road Master spare tire carrier - and didn't order more than I needed. Lots of helpful information on their web-sites and the videos were also very helpful. Will definitely purchase from Sherry and etrailer again.

I was hoping that these connectors would be better than they are. They do work. I would consider them a two trip connector; the first trip from one state to another, the second trip watching the sold trailer being pulled off by the new owner.

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

  • How To Wire a Trailer Connector With Uncommon Wire Colors
I would love to help but a common misconception with wiring a trailer is that you can just simply match colors and that is not the case. In order to install a new trailer connector like part # PK12706 on your trailer you will need to test each circuit to see which wire has which function which can be done by applying 12 volt power to each wire and then checking to see which circuit is activated by that wire. This is the only tried and true method for trailer wiring. I have attached our...

  • How to Inspect Ground Circuit of Trailer Wiring
Trailer lights ground in a couple ways. Sometimes they ground through the mounting hardware which basically means it's ground through the trailer frame to the ground wire of the 7-way connector or they lights are grounded with a wire that runs back to the trailer connector directly. Since the stoplight/turn signals aren't working it's most likely related to the main ground harness of the trailer connector. On the connector in the 5:00 pin position is the ground circuit. Make sure it's connected...

It sounds like someone has wired your trailer with non-standard wiring colors. Your additional brown and white wire are most likely a 12 volt power lead and an auxiliary power lead. Before you wire the Pollak 7-Pole Trailer Connector, # PK12706, you should verify the function of each wire. Our video and our chart on the product page shows the standard wiring colors. I can certainly say that is a unique issue that I have not heard before. However, I suspect the wiring on the trailer is what is causing the odd lighting funcion. The trailer may be wired correctly according to the manufacturer but that does not necessarily mean it matches what is on the tow vehicle. The problem is the stop/turn signal circuit of the 7-way. I attached a diagram that shows how a 7-way is typically wired.
