Hello, everybody. This is Jeff with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Trimax yellow king pin lock collar for 5th wheel trailers. Now, this is a tamper-resistant sturdy lock that'll prevent trailer theft of your unattended trailer by preventing hook-up to the king pin. Basically, this collar will surround your 5th wheel trailer's king pin, and it'll prevent any would-be thieves from hitching your trailer to their tow vehicle. Does use a nice, simple push-button lock, which is very easy to use.
Comes with the two keys included. And just to demonstrate, I wanted to show you I have a replica of what a king pin. This is what your king pin would look like on your 5th wheel. So just to show you how this operates, you take your key. Go ahead and insert it into the lock.
Go ahead and turn it, and it'll release that block, and you can take your key out. And what you'll notice that pin that was in here before is now gone. So this'll allow you to put this around your king pin. So you just slide this up on your king pin, and then all you have to do is push this lock in, and it pushes that pin out, locks in place. And as you can see, it won't come off the king pin.
So there's no way anybody could hook up to their tow vehicle and tow your trailer away. And as long as that's on there, it'll prevent any theft. It is a heavy gauge alloy construction, very durable and theft resistant. It is a full-collar design. You can see it goes all the way around.
Keeps your hands free of any grease. And it uses a weatherproof epoxy powder coat finish on it to prevent corrosion. It is a bright yellow color, so that'll let everybody know that your trailer is protected when this is installed. And then to remove it, you just take your key again, insert it, twist it. That'll release the pin, and it'll remove it from your king pin. And then you can see, just to show you how that pin is, when you push it in there's the pin that goes in there and holds it into place. Full collar keeps your hands grease-free during installation.Doesn't fit. Goes on easily over the bottom of the kingpin, but jams when trying to push onto the top of the kingpin. Have to push on fully to activate the lock. It rocks indicating the lock isn't perfectly round as the rock moves with the lock when I rotated to determine why it wouldn't fit. Sanded off the paint on the king pin and inside the lock. Need to pound on and remove with a crowbar. The fifth wheel was standard on my camper. would expect it to fit as they showed in the video's. Have to see about sending back.
This isn't going to deter the thief with an acetylene torch or a master barrel key, but it will stop that boondox "theft of opportunity".
As capable as locks costing much more.

This lock is easy to use and a great visual deterrent. I don't know if it would stand up to a determined thief with time tools and a hidden location. But, for a trailer in a somewhat secure location it seems like it will serve well.

After a year I am happy with this lock. It is easy to use and a good visual deterrent. Will it stop everyone? Nope, but it is solid and bright yellow. It says move to the next trailer.
I have not opened the box yet but I was thinking the kingpin lock would be heavier weight.
It does exactly what it's supposed to do. It is substantial and provides the additional security I need.
The fit is great for protection of the 5th wheel trailer from anyone other than myself that may want to borrow the coach.
A little light weight, we will see.
Great product for a good price. Won’t stop a thief with a cutting torch, but it will send the average thief to another RV!
Haven't gotten to put it on yet but it looks well made and easy to use.
